Review: 2016 Dodge Charger SXT Plus AWD

+Lucas Lin yeah. Like what i'm trying to say is he doesn't always go for the flashiest cars that only pertain to a very certain market of usually older people. He'll get the V6's of the camaro's, charger's, mustangs, etc. that pertain to a much wider market, but seeing the videos of the higher market cars such as GT-R's and beamers are nice as well.

2slick35 Exactly man, people act like a car muscle/sports car isn’t real because it has a v6. The 2015 through 2018 chargers are nicer compared to the challenger on the inside. Most R/t versions of the charger and challenger are clothed seats without the 8.4 inch screen and no backup camera, as well as no sun roof. I have a 2015 Charger Sxt Plus AWD. I have leather,sunroof, backup cam inside are very luxurious but it still looks like a really nice car and drives wonderful. People act like it has to be a v8, i mean you cant go 170 everywhere you go so i dont see ehat the huge deal is. I got hell about my v6 Challenger as well. Some people have different preferences you know...

Because the V6 is an underpowered turd. If you don't care about having the V8, buy literally any other car. The only selling point of these subpar quality cars are the V8 motors, and really at that the more powerful ones. I had a V6 rental and it was truly dismal. Put it in sport mode, and mash the gas pedal and that 8 speed auto had to hunt through the gears to give the power in enough time. I had to make a few tight lane changes and at least 2 times it delayed so long that the car behind me got way close because despite having the "power" to go, the transmission programming sucks on the V6. Had a Challenger R/T rental another time, no such problems at all. So it's the motor that's junk, and it's this lame little Pentastar. Dodge is one of the lowest tier automakers, making the most subpar stuff, but the V6s are the bottom of the barrel. If you buy one, I don't know what is wrong with you...V6s can be fine motors, see: Camry V6, Accord V6, Maxima V6. But in an FCA product, hell no.

Shintsu2 Huh? Easily one of the best V6 engines on the market RN. And that 8 speed is one of the nicest and most smooth auto shifting I’ve driven.. Must have driven an older V6 😂

@@chasvarkalis6081 I remember renting a 2013. It was a very mixed bag. The interior was very cheap, I know its been updated since but the dash design is still far from modern. The engine wasn't bad, but it just felt way too torqueless for a car this large. It just doesn't feel right revving out a big sedan in normal acceleration. The old 5 speed AT had ridiculous gearing. 1st gear held until nearly 60 MPH. I'm sure they addressed that with the 8 speed though. The biggest strength of the charger is the Mercedes architecture it inherits. The ride is very supple for such an old car, especially since it only cost like $27k at the time. Handling was very soft, but the weight balance is very good and the suspension geometry felt competent.

most dodge cars have that problem. Im waiting another year to get a Dart lol. I have a 04 neon right now, Id like to upgrade it to the Dart GT next year. I found a used one for under 12k right now with only 20k miles. Id say another year and theyll drop less than 10k

yes agree, this sam model can be bought for $30k in Canada but when it came out if was around $40k

+Jack R The Challengers come with an Alpine system which is a lot better. I have the same Beats Audio system in my 2013 Chrysler 300S V6. It is ok but not as good as you would expect for a system that's over 500 watts.

+Jack R I'm a musician here and I also happen to be a car fanatic lol. But Beats in general isn't the best sound system. I'd go for a Bose sound system if ever available. Beats focuses on punchy basses and low frequencies, and I've noticed that drowns out the mid and high ends of a lot of songs. They're good for lower frequencies, but in terms of general audio quality, they aren't the best. Pioneer and Bose have some good audio systems for cars. Of course those are just my two cents on the matter, so take what you will from it :D

+Dunkaccino25 I sure appreciate your view! I think the best alternative when considering purchasing a new car with a premium sound system is to actually sample it, in the car. I'm sure the acoustics within the car can make a big difference, and I do hope the manufacturers have audiophiles on their staff to tweak the systems to the best advantage. Sure beats the installed reverb system of my '68 Dodge Coronet back in the day! :D Thanks! :D Jack

Best car I ever owned I had 17 Challenger and my 2021 AWD charger plus is amazing. Plenty of power and good commuter. I get around 30 mpg highway. Trip from Seattle to Reno ,32mpg. 🤟😎. Recommend this car

That's what i did lol, got a regular base one for 20K, 30,000 miles. I didnt want to get a V8 cause of college and all that, and it's pretty good cause i can put 4 people in quite comfortably. Later on after college, i'll get the V8 for sure

younglatinboy11 damn should of negotiated probably would of been able to get the SXT for 20k or 22k at most , but yeah o agree I'm in college and the v6 is well balanced , not too slow or too fast , balanced out , great highway MPG at steady speed , quicker than some v6 , 0-60 in 6.3-4 which is okay ..

schmoab it's very balanced not too fast or too slow , good daily use , 31 mpg highway , looks is wonderful , can past old ass v6 on the road nice comfort

@@mikexcanxjerk I'd challenge that. I had an "old ass V6" Maxima with a 6 speed and these fat pigs with that underpowered V6 in that heavy car was no match. But if you mean pass old Luminas and Tauruses, then you betcha...

Scared of toasters the 5.7L hemi is like a mixture of the v6 and v8 you get almost best of both worlds,the mpg of a v6 and the sound of a v8 hemi.but dodge does need to cut some weight from their challenger model it shouldn't be that heavy.......and upgrade the base v8 engine

Johnny YK yes it has both it switched to AWD when tires lose traction on wet or snow roads. But dry roads RWD is pretty strong on dry roads comfortably even though it feels like a tank on wheels. I drive 25 miles back n forth to work

the plus and the premium both give you leather but the premium pack has pretty much every option included as well.

the SXT plus does come with full leather seats :)

@@HBKzoe funny enough I went straight to the internet to look for used low mileage 2022 Charger SXT's and they were still in the low $20,000. 100,000 miles and up were in the low to mid $10,000's. Its such a good car IMO, comfy highway cruiser and gets 22mpg but the one I drove was a rear wheel drive and I enjoyed the handling it had. Im an all wheel drive person but would like to have a rear wheel drive car for more fun, my truck is 4x4 but definitely doesnt handle like a car.

+Mr. megashot47 5k is pretty tough. Depends what you're looking for in a car. If you want handling, any old Honda (civic, crx, Del sol, etc) would be great. I think the old Mk3 Supras (late 80s early 90s) are great too, even the non-turbo ones. If you're lucky you might be able to find an old 98 Subaru 2.5rs which was a really cool little car. Fox body mustangs are good if you like the styling and have tons of potential. Same goes for the Camaros of that era. If you really wanna be different there's some cool classics (60s and 70s) you could buy in "driver" condition and fix up while you drive it. Hope this helps!

Yeah. This car is great for daily driving and its a sedan, so you can make this car a family car. And its also very cheap. The base price MSRP is around 32k which is cheap for how much you get it. Its worth it.
