Thank you for sharing. I will have a 10th grader next year and this looks like a good option for us.

Thank you. I was not sure how to schedule it with everything else and SS Level C only being 2 years. I think spreading over 2 years sounds great.❤

Thanks for the video. I found you when researching curriculum and have really appreciated your focus! This is our first year with IEW and I just got the box. It is only divided into 24 weeks - curious as to why you are making this a 2 year course and how you divide up the days/weeks. (Doing with a 9th and 10th grader)

Oh good questions and will try to answer in a few words😉 A lot of times we would skip a week if we had a lot of others things going on. My oldest did an advance themed book and it was so rigorous. I understand that can be priority for some. For us leaning the process and using it in different areas was important also. He had to do writing for history, and use in communications in teaching Bible lessons. This past year he did Dual Credit that required Written Essays that had to be a certain amount of words. It was fun to see him use what he learned from Andrew P. to “dress up” his papers. I hope this makes sense. The guide does give you a 30 week option also. If you use it with Fix It and Literature, it could easily be spread over 2 years. They can also do a final paper for history or science, which my boys have done😉

Thank you for this video. Such a wonderful explanation of this level! How did you guys split this up into two years? I have a 9th grader who needs more structure in writing, but I want to be sure I'm covering her, credit wise, for her Language Arts. Would stretching this out over two years be enough writing instruction for her 9th and 10th grade years?

I am thankful it was helpful!! With Language Arts - or English 1 for highschool, it includes more than writing. There is grammar and literature 😉. Also my son had other small writing assignments for other courses. Those can be combined w/ LA credit and also gives student opportunity to use what they have learned in IEW. So yes🤗 for us it has worked and has been enough.❤️

I really enjoyed this one a lot!!! Thank you so much ❤ Do you have a flip through like this of S&S 1A? I’d love to see it. I know that there are other videos of that one but, You have such a soothing voice that it takes the stress of the thought of embarking ourselves in IEW😅😅

Thank you for your kind words. I do not have videos on level A . I did use the older version. If you have a specific question maybe I could help? Thank you for watching!!❤️

Thank you so much for this!! My daughter did this for 9th grade and loved it plus had a ton of excellent writing opportunities. I felt like it was more than with other curriculums we've tried/seen. I was wondering if this could be stretched out over two years cause it could really help us if it can be and you've given me the confidence to do that. Thanks again!!

Also, what are you using for literature? We've used Sonlight for years but don't think we will for 12th grade. Thank you so much for sharing! 💗

Did you use IEW for your 10th grader before now? I have a very reluctant 11th grader and a 9th grader both of whom have not had any formal writing instruction other than CM's written narrations. I also have a 5th grader and wondering if I should purchase level A of the program for him or wait another year or two. After 15 years of homeschooling, I still struggle with teaching writing. We tried EIW level 10 this year for the older two and it was a total failure for both of them.

Yes we have used IEW before this year. At that age and reluctant I would consider combining them (you could even do B) and maybe sign them up for a class from IEW with a teacher. It is a little costly that is why I have not done it😉. Is there any co-ops near you that offer IEW? If not them working together and yes you may have to sit with them🤷🏻‍♀️. I have heard some moms doing with their kids. I would do a year of this before you worry about you 5th grader. Maybe start with fix it for your 5th grader? I hope this is helpful!! ❤️🙏

I’m in the same boat. Next year my younger boys will be in 10th and 5th grades. I’ve done Sonlight our first year and switched to Spectrum and Pace this year. Could we start with this level with my 9th-10th grader? Does he need to start from square one? He’s got great ideas, but writing is miserable.

Do you feel like a 9th grader who is strong in english could jump right into level C without prior experience with structure and style

Yes- for sure!! If you are not familiar with it as the parent you will want to watch with him or get the teachers DVD set if older version to watch and familiarize yourself with how the program works 😉

I do not plan to do year 2. I feel that this will be enough. Our plan is for him to Dual credit for English his senior year😉
