Well, I am just blown away. Brielle is one bright girl. Thanks for making this video. Very helpful in my pursuit of homeschooling for the first time this year.
Thank you so much !It is so funny she actually suggested reading her paper in the video 🥰. I am so happy she was willing to share I know this video will help someone out here.❤
Bree is the cutest! I love how when you were praising her she was so shy but also you can see how happy she is. The fact that she can work and munch on her lollipop is just so sweet and refreshing ... having that freedom. I know it sounds silly... but it just seems more laid-back and a place you want to learn. Writing papers always gave me anxiety and you can tell the environment is a good one at your home. You are doing an amazing job mama! This is one of the best videos on IEW I've seen! Thanks for sharing Brit! 🧡
Aww thanks so much Gina !!! And yes I love that she can just be free and snack while she is working on her school. Sometimes she even takes popcorn with her when she writes lol 😆. Bri is definitely an introvert and is shy but I am so happy she has been coming out of her shell lately. Thanks friend for the love ❤️
Thank you so much for sharing this glimpse into your use of the IEW curriculum. It is a joy to see your precious girl work hard and do an excellent job! She reminds me of my oldest daughter at that age (she's now 23).
This video was encouraging in many ways!! Thank you for takin the time to share your knowledge and experience. A big thank you to Brielle for her help and willingness to share!
This was so helpful for me to watch, thanks for sharing! We are using IEW this year with our 4th grader too and I've also been very happy with it. I honestly never would have picked IEW myself, I was completely intimidated by it and was looking at just doing some of the writing prompt books from learning without tears but we ended up enrolling her into a hybrid program 2 days a week and they selected IEW and that's the only reason we used it this year but I am so glad that we are, it has been fabulous and I can't believe how much improvement my daughter has made. She started out barely being able to write more then a sentence and if she did she would fight like crazy. Now she can write multiple paragraphs without getting fatigued. I'm also really happy I didn't go with LWOT writing prompt journal because they don't actually teach how to write, like the process of writing and how to take thoughts, organize them and put them on paper in a way that makes sense to a reader. Even though we are already using IEW I'm still glad you shared this video because my daughter is using the IEW themed books instead of the leveled ones like you are so I was able to see how they differed. It looks like they are pretty much the same format and approach, but I won't lie I'm a little jealous that the leveled IEW program has video lessons but for us it's not a huge deal since she goes to a teacher two days a week to do the lessons for me but if we stopped our hybrid classes I think I would probably switch to the leveled version, those videos look fantastic.
Wow! She’s amazing! Thank you so much for this video! I couldn’t imagine my 3rd grader actually doing any of this on his own. I think I’ll wait until middle school for this one.
Good job, Brielle! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Her writing is amazing! ❤️ This video was so helpful to see her go through the week and to be so kind as to share her final draft with all of us. I'm so nervous my daughter won't like the program because she hates writing.. Praying for the best! Lol
This was so helpful! We are using Writeshop with my 6th grader. While we enjoy it because there are fun activities, I know she should have better writing skills by now. I’m thinking of switching to IEW and while I’ve seen lots of videos promoting it, it was so nice to see how it actually works!
I am so happy this was a helpful video. I was looking into Writeshop and EIW before I finally decided on IEW. I hope you guy’s experience with IEW goes well. They also have the free 3 week trials on all of the levels you can do before committing as well. 🥰
I love all your videos! We switched to IEW after watching your videos! We switch our math too thanks to you!! 😂😂 it’s been such a better fit for my son!
This was awesome. I love videos like this that really show me what it looks like to use a curriculum. My favorite part was when she read her paper. She did an amazing job writing and reading it. Thank you both, I don’t have a fifth grader but in two years I will and I’m already trying to make a list of possible curriculums. ❤
This is such a great video! Thank you for showing how you approach the editing process! I am currently planning our next homeschool year and it will be our first time using IEW. I knew I was overcomplicating the editing portion! 😂
Thank you for doing this!! I’m so interested in doing IEW with my kids when they’re older, this looks like a great curriculum. Her paper was wonderful! I was genuinely intrigued and interested in hearing more. Go Brielle! 👏
Awesome job Bree!! Thank you both for making this video I really enjoyed it and it gave me a really good idea how this curriculum works. Thanks again, I’m making the switch to IEW.😊
Thank you for this week walkthrough. We’re using this in the upcoming school year and I couldn’t wrap my head around how to use it. You have helped so much! Great paper Bri!!!
What a great job on this video. Both of you calmed this Nana’s nerves about starting new with this program. We will be using it primarily with my 4th grade student but probably add the seventh grader as well!
Thank you for doing this so thoroughly! I would like to use this this year with 4 kids and was trying to see how it all would work & fit into our schedule. I appreciate it!!
Thank you so much for making this video!! Thank you to your daughter too! I've been looking everywhere for a DITL of someone using IEW SSS and have has zero luck. This was very helpful! I plan on using this next school year with my girls that will be 6th and 7th grade.
I am so happy this video has been helpful!!! 🥰I hope you guys enjoy IEW !!! I love that each level is only 24 weeks so you have plenty of time to complete a level in a school year too.❤️
I have a K and 1st grader, but this was so helpful to watch!! IEW has always seemed intimidating to me, but this video showed how doable it is. Looks like an excellent writing curriculum! Thank you for sharing ❤️❤️
I am so happy this was helpful!!! IEW was intimidating to me as well before we began. I was so nervous but after the first week I was in love with the program.I am so happy we gave it a go this year.❤️
No problem at all I am so happy it was helpful. I am happy I did wait until she was in 5th grade to start this IEW instead of doing it earlier. I hope it works out for you all if you give it a try in the future. 🥰
This video was exactly what I needed to see, thank you so much!! May I ask how old your daughter is in this video? Mine is 11 and we are considering this curriculum for her. God bless 💗
Hi Brittany , We just bought level 1A premier for my son. please can you clarify if the videos your daughter is watching/ the ones mentioned in the Overview are the videos for the parent seminar? Mr Pudewa is seen talking to parents in the very first video but i can see your daugher watching a video that looks more like a regular class of students not parents
Do you think this would work with a complete beginner to writing or should they do something a bit more basic first? My son is not a writing lover (but a voracious reader). I don’t do much formal writing until about 4th grade because I want them to focus on handwriting first. But he’s now 4th/5th grade and needs something a bit more formal because he is definitely not gravitating to writing naturally! Lol. He does know the basic structure of a paragraph: topic, details, conclude etc. Great video as always! ❤
I honestly think this level would be perfect for him. It starts off very slow, the kiddos are only writing one paragraph and then it gradually increases. This program only has 24 units or weeks and at week 10 we are so close to the half way mark. If you go online to IEW you can try 3 weeks for free before committing to the program. Best of luck 🤞🏽!!!
What a neat video. Thank you for sharing! As others have said, you can just see the positive attitudes and environment. What a sweet girl you've got. Is there a requirement on how long the compositions need to be? I was also wondering about the video lengths- just seems so long for a 3rd grader. Are most of them over 30 minutes the first day?
Thank you so much 😊 I did not purchase the teachers guide for the first few weeks I just watch the videos with my daughter so I could learn the concepts being taught. After that I use my teachers guide and follow along with each week with my daughter. Hopefully this was helpful.
Great video thank you! Question; I’m trying to figure out on average how much video per week there is to watch… was this about 1 hour for the whole week or is there video every day?
Thank you so much. 🥰This level of IEW is for 3rd-5th grade and we just started it this year in her 5th grade year. I wanted to do this program last year with her in 4th grade but I am so happy I waited to do it. Because we waited she can focus more on the styles and the dress ups in her writing than the basic structure of a paragraph.
Thank you. This is very helpful. And I feel so much better about choosing IEW for the following year (for 3rd grade)...I already picked out an English curriculum for next which will be a good transition into IEW. Question, do you think it's necessary to purchase the teacher training course for IEW or can I figure it out? Writing is my strongest area (i just get lazy with writing online or via txt)...and so I know I can figure it out. I am aware that IEW teaches differently... what's your experience?TIA 😊
Thank you for the video! We are doing the same IEW for my 5th grader as well. we are loving it! Where did you find the checklist with the point system?
No problem at all I am so happy this video was helpful. We are loving IEW as well. I am so amazed at her growth in her writing over these 10 weeks. In your teachers manual it has a downloadable link for the checklist with the points on it and it has some other cool downloads as well. ❤️
I’m asking this while watching so sorry if you cover it in the video, but what did y’all do for fourth? I’m trying to find fourth grade writing and think I need to wait until next year for IEW.
This video will answer all of your questions!!!! Best of luck in your writing curriculum search ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-v4Mlza_pPRU.html
This was so helpful! Thank you! My daughter is also in 5th grade and I wasn’t sure if I should start her in level A or B. Now I’m certain she should definitely start with A 😆. Quick question - do you have her read the suggested literature and if so, do those specific stories add to the program? Or can we get by without them and just read our own books?
Thank you so much 😊.I was questioning the same thing whether to start my daughter or A or B . In the beginning because it was so easy and I was worried but then at week 8 it picked up. We actually just skip the literature suggestion we just read aloud books she is interested in. It doesn’t affect the writing portion at all. 🥰
@@brittanyolga Thanks so much for the quick response! I love your channel! Keep doing what you’re doing. Brielle is amazing! (Sorry if I spelled her name wrong).
@@michelleriggs3008 aww thank you so much 😊!!! I am so proud of that girl!!! It is all her !! I am just following her lead and using good resources like IEW in our homeschool.
Did you do the parent guide? I'm trying to decide whether or not to purchase the parent teaching guide (14 hrs). I've heard it's a must. Did you do it?
