What was your first polisher?

This Griots Garage is my first and only polisherand I love it. I can remove enough swirls on the cars that are drove daily and it has relatively low vibration. Thanks for the video!

If you are wondering how to put the rotor back in, open the handle, remove both sides, and find the insulated copper wire and coil springs, pull them back until the spring loads onto the side of the box; rotor should slide down easily. Remember to put the coil springs back to original placement! Just bought one from Facebook market, 85 dollars; guy had it for a year and this video helped me “refurbished” it! Definitely change the grease to an NLGI 2 grade lithium grease after a while, makes a huge difference in sound and startup!

@@Carlos.Rivera Nah just a personal preference, factory grease works just great. I did notice a smoother sound on start up. I always replace factory grease after a while and at the time the guy had it in poor condition.

Hello, the 3” new video polishing machine. Do you have a small game when moving the Backing plate? I want to say in the nut that the silver Baking has a ruleman / bearing that is held by a pressure washer and I notice that it has some play! The machine is completely new and works perfectly !!! Thank you very much, greetings from ARGENTINA.

i have one of these and the power cord broke recently. I have to push and hold the cord just right to get and power to the polisher so there must be some kind of worn or loosse connection inside the wire. Do you know if i can buy a replacement cord?

Brian, This is beginner to middle skill machine as you’ve pointed out well; it is one of my machines in the arsenal and other than the goofy on/off thumb switch, I admire it’s quality and results. If anyone if considering this unit, I STRONGLY recommend the 25 foot cord. Makes for less irritating extension cords.

Good evening sir, I want to change the grease in my polisher but I have problem hearing the kind of grease you put in. Do you think you could write down for me please. Also my 25 feet wire broke where the big rubber protector at the end of the polisher. Is it easy to repair or I have to send it back. I leave in Montreal Canada I ship it to their store will cost me an arm. By the way I saw all your video and that gave me the possibility to get more customer and give a good service by following your advice . I owe a lot in term of learning by following your advice without cutting coner round. Thank you many time. I wish I know were you are because every summer I go to Wilkes Barre for a week or two and I realy would like to see your shop and thank you in person for all what you did to me (teaching).

If you are talking about DA polishers, how do you differentiate between an "entry level" one and a professional one? In theory, they both work via a dual-action motion, and I'm sure the paint doesn't know the difference, When you mentioned that "you can do a little paint correction" that made me think that there re things you can't do with it. In a future video maybe you could describe the difference between entry level and pro, and the limitations of the entry-level models. Great video as always!
@autodetaillab
@autodetaillab 5 лет назад
It comes down to price and availability. The Griots and Harbor Freight are relatively inexpensive and available locally for most people. Cheaper entry level polishers such as these also most commonly have an 8mm throw. These polishers will not correct paint as quickly as long throw 15mm or 21mm throw machines. For a pro doing paint corrections for money the increase in efficiency is well worth additional cost of a longer throw machine. Offerings from Maxshine/Shinemaster and the like are dramatically closing the price gap however (about $200 for a 15/21mm throw machine). Short throw machines are also slightly easier to maneuver around contours. At the end of the day you can achieve the same results, just might take ya a bit longer.
@apexdetail85
@apexdetail85 5 лет назад
To me...a polisher with shorter throw. (8mm) is entry level. Less risk for the user. Price plays a role as well.

inside the gearbox like an angle grinder, but to be honest, it wont need it, unless you run the thing till its burning hot, its basically an angle grinder but has less stress at it runs slower, just watch the heat build up and you wont have to worry about a thing, its also running in a much cleaner environment than an angle grinder sucking in much less bad stuff, blow out the motor end with your airline after every use if you want to do the best

Who knows the Bauer might be better than the Chicago electric. Have you looked at it yet what do you think. Can you do a review on one and maybe show that Chicago electric one and the Bauer next to it and compare them. I have a Chicago electric. I have had it for about a year and a half it’s my first dual action. And I haven’t had any problems with it other than it vibrating quite a bit and a little loud it’s quite good. I’m wondering if the power is a little quieter and less vibration. For $79 that would be welcome. I’ve looked at it in the Harbor freight online ad and it looked pretty cool for 79 bucks but it looks lawful like the Chicago electric. Maybe they just threw a different show on top with a different name
