Just picked this up today. It's my first hobby-grade rc car, so I don't really have anything to compare it too. I was torn between this, kraton and the typhon. I figured this was the best choice since it's balanced for both on/off road. Again, I'm a total noob in the rc world so that seemed like the best option. Very, very happy with my choice. I'm absolutely blown away with the performance. Started out on 3s, which was awesome, then switched over to 6s... Shit got serious. You basically have a mini race quad. This thing is an absolute monster on 6s. Overall, I didn't know what to expect (speed, battery life, handling, etc) All i have to say is this car greatly exceeded my expectations. Prob the best $500 I've ever spent. Highly recommend getting into this hobby.
AWESOME review Vas 😂!!! I was on the fence about this one upon initial release 🤔. Boy was I wrong about this platform as a basher. What a BEAST 😰!!! Didn't think the stock Katar wheels could handle BIG airs and harder use. My last session "Into the Clouds" changed my view of the Talion completely 😱. She soars like a dang eagle in heat. Thank you ARRMA 😍🤘🤘😰😰😰😎💪💪💪💪👊👊
Absolutely nailed it. 100% agree with your review. Broken a few parts on mine, and here in the states it did dry up a bit while the acquisition by Horizon was being completed. Now however, even the LHS is starting to stock parts, and vehicles (bought a V# Kraton from them) now for the Arrma brand. Super excited about this, as these truly are the best bashers on the market in my opinion. Great review!
Been going back and forth between kraton or talion, i think after watching your videos I'm goin with the talion, seems like thebplatfirm for me. No stranger to arrma I have a 2013 granite blx awesome truck, and also have the 2015 granite mega for my son, and he loves it. Would also love to see some more R/C Carnage videos, fun to watch. Keep up the good videos Vas!
Fantastic, honest review once again Vas 👊🏻👊🏻. From your videos, this Talion seems to handle like it's on rails. Fast, agile, tough, affordable, and great looking - what more could anyone possibly want in an RC? 👊🏻👊🏻
Hey man, you would know about this more than anybody else but i'm having trouble deciding between this and the kraton. In the end im going to have it with traditional dish truggy wheels and a traditional style truggy body and I want it to have decent ground clearance. Would the talion be too low slung to compete with a traditional truggy? Or would the kraton be more suitable? Just wish there was more shock mounting options. The talion looks speed-bred the rear shock are really almost laid out. Any advice would be great.
Excellent Vas. 👍👍👍. This rig could easily have been a stock 80 rig..physically.. financially maybe was a different story. Arrma kept cost low thru cost sharing ..kept the same power plant as the other flat chassis 1/8ths. I will join you in ur challenge.. they should make a “special edition” maybe a blacked out version and use the Nero power plants .. hmmmm .. I think I just came up with my next project.
I work at a hobby shop that distributes a wide variety of vehicles, and where Im located its super easy to get access to arrma parts. We usually keep quite a few parts in stock, but a lot of the time they dont sell because arrma cars just dont break. However if we need to order a part, its usually in within about 2 days (unless its on back order of course) so if we dont have anything in stock for my Talion, i can get it in super quick and easy.
I've really been looking to purchase something in the Arrma 1/8 lineup... One thing I really havnt seen is a good comparison video of one next to another. Would be nice to clearly see what makes a Kraton a Kraton, a Talion a Talion, an outcast an outcast, etc...
Aussie RC Playground You know in the future people will be swapping parts from one to another, so as a reference it will be nice. Also shows you the difference in working on them. How things are arranged, stuff like that. I know I've watched all the videos I can but even then, you don't know how it compairs to another one till their side by side/top on bottom...
The body could have broke when the front chassis brace snapped. My hyper St body was destroyed until I put cnc braces on it. I bent both centre drive shafts as well XD
Very well done VAS!! I feel like xmas has come early for me.. Rich at #thercnetwork putting out a couple of Top notch videos in the same week as you!! Then Live Rc had the IC euros.. omg I'm in Rc RU-vid NERD HEAVEN!!! Thank you for bringing us some really excellent content!!.....as usual....
I have a notorious and a senton an Now looking for another arrma vehicle. I have my eyes on a Typhon or Talion. If you had to choose one, which one would you get the most out of.
I just got notified, all parts are available, Hobby Tower has made the correct decision, by keeping ARRMA afloat and going! Remember, Don"t Just Bash Blast!
Nice review, I didn't have much interest in this car since I already have a Kraton now, but it would be nice having a similar platform assigned for different purposes (also doesn't hurt that you could service and maintain your fleet from roughly the same pool of parts). I might have to reconsider, I want to explore other types first, but it's a definite maybe, can't argue with the value though.
Noticed you always comment on the connections. XT-90 vs. T-plug Saying the Xt-90 is better. Correct me if I'm wrong. Look at both connections, there both 10 gauge copper your soldering to. So in fact there is no difference in connectivity (can't be 10 gauge to 10 gauge there's no difference)). Just a different style plug.
I would really love to know what parts are different from the v1, v2, and v3. I have the version 1 and would like to convert the upgraded parts to it. Is this possible?
Aussie RC.... i have a weird problem i wish u can help. my old esc caught on fire.. i had the new one stock blx. 185 now it was all running smooth and good until a week i started to had an issue i put 4s battery or 6s battery it give me the power just for a couple a seconds and then it losses its power like the batteries is empty.... and its not empty! i have many batteries any suggestion?
The only problem I have had with it was my fault a very hard landing on the wing broke the part on the diff case where the back is braced quick fix added wheely bar all is well.
This is definitely a good rig, it was between this or the v3 Kraton n I went with the Kraton but I’m still gonna probably pick one of these up, great review Vas!
Dusty Congrats If you ever want to do some speed runs, get a set of these Road Crushers and a big pinion. They are incredible wheels. www.sweepracingusa.com/Monster-Trucks-SRC_c_35.html
I live on an acreage in canada, and have a few dirt jumps, a gravel driveway, and some grass. Any suggestions for a Arrma car? I already have an e-Revo 2.0, but want to try Arrma on for size. I would like some feedback. Thanks
Caleb Reeve hello another 🇨🇦 here. I would definitely try out an Arrma Talion they handle so well. They are fast and powerful it will power threw grass like nothing. Really though if your looking for an ultimate truck for your acreage a Xmaxx is an amazing truck that can do it all with power and speed and it’s tough! But ya the Talion gets my vote or the Kraton would be great probally also
Caleb Reeve What do you mean by amazing tyres? It depends on what you need them to do. Sounds like the Kraton is more what you're looking for. It will run the grounds you describe and jump much better than the Talion or even the Outcast. The Outcast is not that well balanced for jumping as it tumbles pretty easily, and the Talion simply do not have the suspension for it. The Talion rides surprisingly low, thus will not be that great in grass. It sounds like you need sort of a jack-of-all-trades and the Kraton is exactly that. It will even run well with the wheels from the Nero and Outcast. Just install a smaller pinion. As far as the Xmaxx go? Stay far, far away from that massively overpriced hunk of junk. You'll need to often replace the steering servo, the motors and esc's burn out, and the bearings are terrible. If you want to go largescale, look into the new Redcat R5 or Losi XL-E. They both come with much better electronics than the horrid Xmaxx.
Caleb reeve Well, there are of course similarities, but that goes for the Outcast as well. They are all monster trucks, with the Outcast having a shorter wheelbase than the E-Revo and the Kraton having one that is longer. The Outcast is taller than the E-Revo and the Kraton is lower. If your jumps are not too big, the Talion can of course work for you. It's a shame the Nero has been discontinued, because that would have been a perfect fit. But at the end of the day, all three will work one way or the other. None of them are exactly like the E-Revo.
Buti Bader i have the Kraton v3, Typhon V2 and Outcast V3.. if I could do it over again I’d get the Talion over the Kraton any day. The Talion can be a basher or speed, I’d def go with the Talion trust me.
First thing's first. What surface do you run on most? This is what determines what will work the best. Also, what kind of bashing do you like? Park bashing etc. or do you do bashing with a lot of jumps. do you like long wheelies , tumbling the rc around and so on? As a pure fun basher you can tumble around, I find the Outcast to be the better RC. And if you want to go out and do some speed runs, simply get some Talion wheels and a big pinion. While I'll agree with Vas that the Kraton is a very nice jack-of-all-trades that does many things pretty good, I think it's a bit like a Swiss army knife. It does many things pretty good, but nothing really well. I personally think the Kraton is best at home as a park basher where the Outcast and Nero are much better as rough, hard bashers. And as I said, if you want to go 70+ with an Outcast or Nero on occasion, get the wheels for the job and a big pinion. Both trucks are definitely capable of it. At the end of the day, you need to look at them and think about what will make you smile. This is as much about looks and emotion as anything else. A stadium truck might be the dogs for many things, but I hate the look, and they don't give me the "fizz". My most treasured Arrma? The Typhon. I simply like buggies more than anything. It might not do park bashing on grass as well as a Kraton as it will eat up the batteries and run hot, and it's definitely more challenged on the big jumps and a BMX track than a Nero or Outcast, not to mention that it does not do wheelies particularly well. But I don't care, it looks like a buggy is supposed to look and it just makes me smile. And take it out in an area with hardpack and medium sized jumps, and it'll leave the rest of the 6S Arrma cars for dead. Oh, and as far as stability goes? It will give the Talion a run for its money when it comes to stability and top end speed. As a final word of comfort. Don't worry, it's a non-issue that will solve itself over time. Before you know it, you'll have a second and a third Arrma 6S. You'll end up like many of us, with different rc cars for different purposes.
Just change the pinion. This easily runs 80+ with a big pinion on 6S and the stock electronics. They are already 74 mph capable with the extra pinion in the box and a good 6S LIHV pack.
I like your thinking here!!! Ive got a Max 6 and custom 8S TP motor waiting for my Talion :) Made to order Just Bash It Rc chassis and 24mm hexes in case I want to run my Xmaxx tires lol!! Do you brother there are no rules here!!
@@ELValenin High voltage lipo. Stick a pair of these in it. www.lrp.cc/en/product/antix-by-lrp-6400-graphene-114v-lihv-45c-lipo-car-hardcase/ It'll run like a raped ape. They are awesome cells.
That company has it's morals all wrong and has been hurting the hobby industry for many years. I will not support a company that hinders the progress of this hobby with its politics and malicious agenda.
Aussie RC I''ve not been part of the whole Traxxas thing ever, and I don't care much for their products or prices. But would you care to elaborate? I don't say this to seed any kinds of doubts, as I'm quite sure you're spot on, seeing what Traxxas has to offer. But I'm very much out of the loop on this one, so a bit of info would be much appreciated.
Against what? There are no classes for it. And you mean taking it to a track where you would normally race 1/8 buggies? Forget it. It's a fun runner with high speed capabilities. If you take that and a Typhon to an RC track, the Typhon will outperform the Talion with ease.
The servo complaint is the same deal as the differential shims deal. I lost count how many dumbasses are asking about shimming the diff cause they have read of premature failure and so on. When I have had mine for over a yr now and running strong w stock servo and diff. Only thing I did, stiffer shock oil and sway bars.
@@AussieRCPlayground Horizon has somehow built an RC empire while shooting themselves in the foot. Feet is more appropriate. Aarma prices will go up, quality will go down. How many Losi vehicles do you own or have reviewed?
I've reviewed 3 Horizon Hobby products and one was a Losi. Raising prices and dropping quality will not likely happen. Why acquire a brand only to destroy it? They will likely change a couple of things like the radio, for example, but that should be about it. Unless you or I have a crystal ball, it's going to be impossible to predict anything beyond that. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens...
Uhm it's a 2018 model. How can that have been out for ages seeing that we are still in 2018? Here's a well known fact for a lot of us, but apparently you missed it. If you want to do a proper review, you need to use things for more than a month. You need to live with it and experience it. So many reviews in everything from magazines to youtube videos, are not worth the time due to the fact that they are too shallow. You don't learn much about an RC and its support etc after a bloody week or two. A good review is not about being first, it's about being objective and thorough.
