Can't thank you enough for this video. My steam boiler pump did the 1 min run followed by timeout this morning, and as it turns out, that tiny little orifice under the boiler fill line that you point out around 4:57 had crusted right over. A quick descale and I was back up and running! Cheers to you guys for making this detailed video!

You guys really appeal to they way I like to view and buy things. I love the detailed investigation into the inner workings of these machines, and indeed all of the machines you review. Gives anyone a really good insight into how they work, if they are well manufactured, what can go wrong and potentially how it can self-fixed by a keen, capable owner. I wish Todd and Marc did videos for all the items in my life, that I wish I had a better understanding of, before buying (Hi-Fi, cameras, and many more!). The knowledge and enthusiasm is exceptional. Well done guys. Love it, love it, love it!

Here is the Bezzera Matrix / ECM Synchronika 2019 question I would like to know. Is it easier to work with the Bezerra or ECM Synchronika when it comes to troubleshooting issues with them? Which one is built more to last? My take is the Synchronika because it has less circuitry thus easier to maintain. I could be wrong but it makes it easier for me to make buying decision on my first espresso machine. As nice and techno impressive the Bezerra is, I am concern if I am buying a fancy looking machine that may not last as long as it looks. Then comes the taste of the espresso. Does it taste as good as it looks??? I mean I like the thought of super automatic, but this is what steered me out of the Oracle Touch too. Please help me with my weak sense of understanding espresso machines. You guys really know your stuff.

Hi Todd & Marc - you guys are great..after washing this and your other reviews of Bezzera Matrix DE, quite repeatedly over one year, I finally purchased it last October from WLL, and could not be happier!! I came back here to ask this question. I removed the steam wand tip to clean milk buildup. I used a thin bottle-cleaner type thingy to clean the tip's inside, but it came off with a red colored O-ring (washer). I am not quite sure where the red O-ring should go back? There is a black colored O-ring still intact at the bottom exterior of the tip's threading. But where should I put back the red O-ring? is it on top of the black O-ring or somewhere else? Please advise.

Hi, thank you for another quality video. You guys have the most detailed information for the Bezzera and Expobars which are really good for home users. I hope you can do a video on testing the electronics like what you did for the Expobar eventually. I've a quite a number of questions with regards to the internals. How easy is it to access the transducer and relay which appears to be behind the boiler. Must the boilers be removed before we can access to that area or could the lever regulator be removed to easier access? Will you be able to show us how to remove the boiler that is already filled with water? Is descaling for the machine easy? Thank you for your hard work, Bezzera is proud to have you as distributors.

Hi, I know this is an old video, but hoping the comments might still be moderated. I need to replace a stripped inlet valve to plumb in. I have ordered the replacement part (the brass union elbow) just searching for some advice on how to replace it. Im hoping i wont have to remove the housing. Any words of wisdom?
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 3 месяца назад
Hi TDF, yes still moderating! Fairly certain you will need to remove the housing to get a wrench on the other side of the fitting to remove. If you do need to remove the housing it's not difficult and we have this video that shows you how to do it on the Duo. Not sure which model you have but it's even easier on the Matrix: support.wholelattelove.com/hc/en-us/articles/360061078214--Bezzera-DUO-Remove-Housing-and-Drain-the-Boiler If you purchased the machine from us and run into trouble you can reach out to our Tech Support team here for assistance: support.wholelattelove.com/

@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 2 года назад
Hi Brian, The LEDs are cool! You'd likely have to DIY hack in some aftermarket LEDs as the original LEDs are tied into the control board of the machine for power and color mixing functionality.

@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage Год назад
Hi Paar, You can't really change the flow rate in a meaningful way. It's possible you could get a small reduction by adjusting the rotary pump bypass but that would cause a significant reduction in brew pressure.

Hi guys!! Great videos! I have a DE Machine that has a European Schuko Plug. In looking at this video, it looks like the Power cord/plug is "plug and play" and could easily be replaced. How could I get an American version, prefer the 20 AMP version that allows both boilers
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 2 года назад
Hi Chad, Not exactly sure what you're after. You want to purchase an EU version and put US spec plug on it? Be aware EU versions run at higher voltage so more to it than swapping out the plug. This US Matrix is 20amp: www.wholelattelove.com/collections/prosumer-espresso-machines/products/bezzera-matrix-de-dual-boiler-espresso-machine#product-specs
@chadjaney7281
@chadjaney7281 2 года назад
@@Wholelattelovepage Well, my comments keep getting deleted. Not sure why. Trying to simplify and remove links to see if perhaps that is what the issue is. I already have the EU version. From looking on the Bezzera Website parts list, the only parts that appear to be regionalized are the power cords which come in many different versions for many different countries. That is why it seems it could be switched out. My understanding is that the US version that runs at 20 Amp is also 220V, at least it appears to be a 220 V plug? So, was trying to figure simplest way to use the EU machine in the US.

Hi thanks for your great videos! .. so do you prefer the BZ grouphead or E61 ? and which one gives a better Espresso ؟
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 4 года назад
Hi d, Thanks for the question. I can't say one makes a better espresso than the other. I can say the E61 opens up more possibilities for modifying an extraction. For instance rotary pump, plumbable machines from Profitec and ECM can do line-pressure pre-infusion. Also E61 machines with flow control which can modify flow rates to the group during an extraction. On the flip side electrically heated BZ groups are ready to brew far faster than thermosiphon heated E61 groups. Hope that helps! Marc

Please don't take this as criticism, but why fiddle about with a dismantled machine when you coud take us through the one next to it - like the excellent vids you did on the Profitec/ECM dual boiler machines? It's hard to visualise whats going on with the components "almost" where they should be and a great big hand blocking half of the view! Your ECM stuff was fantastic.

Hi! First of all great work! Really love your videos! Have you ever serviced the Bezzera Mitica top? Is the boiler insulated? Is it copper or stainless steel? From another video i've seen there is a tube that goes into the water tank from the top, what do you think is that for? Many thanks for your help! :)
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 5 лет назад
Hi TV, Thanks a whole latte for the comment and questions! We do not carry the Mitica so have not serviced. My understanding it is a copper boiler. Do not know if the boiler is insulated. A tube going into the top of reservoir is generally a return from the OPV valve of the brew water circuit. Marc

Hi Marc, what is the power of those two cartidges in grouphead? They are PID controled?

Hey Ante, Thanks for the question. The Matrix/Duo DE use a triple PID so the BZ group is under PID control. Bezzera does not specify wattage of group heating element. Here are other specs from the Bezzera site: www.bezzera.it/?p=articoli&id=34&lang=en Marc

Could a professional plumb the Magica so it was fed from the direct water supply? You could also install an in-line filter. I think due to the water quality in my area it would be best to be a direct water supply with an inbuilt filter to protect the coffee machine. Could the Magica be supplied with the ability to connect water to direct supply?
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 3 года назад
Hi E, No way to plumb direct to waterline. But you're right to filter water if you know your water is hard! A couple of great options for reservoir fed machines are in-tank pad filters like the BWT Bestsave: www.wholelattelove.com/products/bwt-bestsave-m-anti-scale-filter Or the BWT Penguin Pitcher: www.wholelattelove.com/products/bwt-penguin-2-7-l-water-pitcher Both those options go way beyond simple water softening using patented ion-exchange technology which replaces calcium in water with magnesium to prevent scale. Hi Guys, Love this machine and have it for a month now and works like clock work, just wanted to know, as I went to all the settings and couldn't find a way to adjust the brew pressure? I noticed it is pressure at 10 bars, 9 out of 10 times, is there way to adjust it? would be good to know :)
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 4 года назад
Hi Gerald, Thanks for the question and sharing your love of the machine. Like most all rotary pump machines brew pressure is adjusted manually. The adjustment is located underneath the machine just in front of the left rear leg. There's usually a black rubber cap over the adjustment. Remove the cap and use a flat blade screwdriver to adjust brew pressure. Make the adjustment with a backflush (blind filter basket) disc in the portafilter. Turn the machine on as if brewing. With the pump running turn the screw to produce 9 bar on the gauge. As the adjustment is underneath the machine you have to hang that back corner off the edge of a counter to access. Hope that helps!
