I based off the Mclaren Tooned episode with Bruno Senna acting as his uncle, so it should be the correct way indeed!

Great model and amazing conversion but The backstory is full of mistakes (and that's the classic "Senna version" of it): 1) "in 1989 they continued their on track battleS" On-track BattleS? The only time they did battle on-track was in Hungary 1988 and then nothing happened until Suzuka 1989 2) little detail: Senna scored 94 points in 1988 to Prost's 105. The winner was Senna because only the 11~ race results "counted" in the standings until 1989-90~ 3) Senna's car in Suzuka 1989 turned off after the collision but Ayrton conviced the stewards to push him to turn his McLaren back on (which was illegal, unless he was in an unsafe position.. which didn't happen because he was on the run-off area of the chicane) 4) with Ayrton's victory in Suzuka yes he could still become the 1989 world champion but it's also important to notice that only a win in the last race would have made it possible, it wasn't neck-a-neck 5) fun fact: Honda had a special relationship with Senna and they always gave to Ayrton the upgraded version of their engine (Prost never saw the upgrades all season long... If someone doesn't believe it let me remind that The gap between the cars was 2 seconds PER LAP in Monza). In the end, Prost claimed that title with 84 points to Senna's 60 (*70 if you think Suzuka was legit) 6) what was Senna's argument of changing the starting grid in 1990? (Especially since those were the spots since 1987).. Imagine if Hamilton or Verstappen goes to Masi nowadays and asks to switch the starting positions, Everyone would mock him so why do people justify senna for the same thing? 7) "was it deliberate?" Even Ayrton himself said it was deliberate so that should not be a question..

Hi Marco, thanks for watching the video and thanks for your insight. However, I will refute a few of your comments. 1) I never said that they battled wheel to wheel. You don't need to drive side by side to do battle, you can be half a lap apart for that matter. For instance you can refer to a duel in a qualifying session as a battle too, there is no side by side action there. You might think that I implied that they did battle wheel to wheel, but that is down to your own interpretation then. 2) Prost scored more points in 1988 indeed, that's a well known fact. However the rules were that only the 11 best results counted as you stated, so what's the point in argueing about it? Those were the rules and everyone knew it from the beginning. I didn't include this in the video as I though it was irrelevant to the whole story and that I don't want to backstories to be the longest part, as it's still a modelcar review video. 3) Senna did get an illegal push start in Suzuka 1989. However the official reason he was disqualified was because he cut the chicane, or as they said: "Senna didn't complete the whole race distance." The stewards could have DQ'd Ayrton for the illegal push start, but they chose the 'cut the chicane' reason in the end. You can check every reputable website about this. www.motorsportmagazine.com/archive/article/december-1989/8/a-flash-in-japan Even on the official F1 video on the clash you can see that they mention the cutting of the chicane as the reason for the DQ. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WBForKcFWoA.html (pause the video at around the 02:20 timestamp) 4) Again, I never mentioned, nor implied that it would have been neck and neck in Adelaide 1989. That's again down to your own interpretation. I just said it would go down to the wire at the last round. 5) I didn't think this piece of speculation was needed in the story. I'm not saying it's not true, but to me it was again irrelevant to the story. As i mentioned before, I want to make the backstory part informative, but not too long for it to last longer than the actual modelcar review. 6) What exactly is the mistake I made about the 1990 Japanese GP pole spot debacle according to you? I just mentioned he tried to get it swapped over to the racing line, which is true. I again didn't want to go on and on about that part of the story, so I kept it short and factual about his subject. I never justified Senna's lobbying either, that's again down to your own interpretation. 7) I never questioned the fact that it was a deliberate crash or not. I litterally said: "I'll leave it up to you if it was a deliberate crash or if he was over opportunistic...", which means I'm not showing any bias. I also think you might have missed the subtle irony in the latter part of my comment, the "being over opportunistic" bit. This, contradictively to my statement I'm not showing any bias, could mean I'm also quite sure it could have been deliberate. Ayrton also never said it straight that he took Prost off, although he surely implyed it. But there is much more to it than that. He talked about "justice" and that this was the result of getting "fucked" by everyone in 1989, and again after qualy in 1990. He did use the now infamous phrase: "If you no longer go for a gap (that exsists), you're no longer a racing driver" when Jackie Stewart asked him about the crash with Alain. However, that quote is so misused, you would have to see the whole interview to understand the context of it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ySBRcXZ_Dfo.html There is a great article about Senna's take of the Suzuka 1990 crash from Motorsport magazine, which you can read on their website. www.motorsportmagazine.com/archive/article/december-1991/6/the-other-side-of-senna The intresting part is that he never takes the full responsability of it. That it only happened because the circumstances were leading up to it. He says he had contributed to it, but he wasn't responsible for it. This staggering ruthless self belief and sense of self righteousness was something Michael Schumacher also showed during his career. You see I can spend a lot of time discussing this point, but I guess you understand this couldn't be talked about at length and in such detail in the video. So yeah, you can point me towards the factual mistakes that I made for sure.

People who generally dislike Senna like to diminish his 1988 title with the 5 worst results dropped from their season thing but rules were the rules back then and that rule was around long before 1988. The points system back then was 9-6-4-3-2-1 for finishing 1 thru 6. So, it wasn't unusual for a driver to see some if not all of his worst results dropped to be non-points finishes. 1988 just happened to be a year in which McLaren was so dominant that at least one driver was going to see some hefty points finishes dropped from his tally. That guy was Prost whose five worst finishes were DNF, DNF, 2, 2 and 2. Yikes! That was 18 points he had to drop per rule. Brutal. Senna, meanwhile, five worst finishes were DQ, DNF, 10 (crashed out at Monaco, remember that?), 6, and 4. That was 4 points dropped from his total. What ultimately won Senna the title was winning 8 races (should have been 9....Monaco crash) to Prost's 7 (should have been 6....Monaco fell in his lap). These guys understood and accepted that rule back then. They just never expected one team to be so thoroughly dominant that the rule would actually hurt one of their drivers but it was bound to happen and when it did, the rule was dropped. However, it shouldn't diminish what Senna accomplished in 1988. He had to overcome five worst finishes than what Prost's were. All Prost had to do was win one more race than Senna but he didn't.

Cool review! Do you have a model in your collection that you personally think is the best for its price point and details?
@rps_reviews

Thanks! There are a few models that I think are really good, but usually the rule is, the more expensive, the better... Having said that I think the Solido Renault/Alpine models are quite good and very fairly priced. The Model Car Group (MCG) Lotus 79 I reviewed on this channel is pretty good too! I just wouldn't really recommend the Bburago models, as they look much too toylike in my opinion.

Hi I bought myself the Ferrari sf71h from bbr. Got some mission winnow decals. Is it best to use the Micro set and micro sol when applying? For my old Hotwheels Schumacher Ferrari f1 cars I just used the water alone for the decals.
@rps_reviews
@rps_reviews 2 года назад
Hi mate. I would use both products indeed. The microset to make sure the decals don't immediately stick to the surface and the microsol to make the decals soft and make them blend onto the shape of the surface too. Good luck!

I would’ve liked to see it next to a 1/18 size model, it’s hard to really tell how big a 1/12 is from watching the video.

Oh man! Can you believe I actually wanted to include this in the video, but totally forgot about it?? You can see in my 1985 Senna first win Lotus how big a 1/12 scale model is compared to a 1/18...

I have the premier x 1:18 1988 car, its the first car I bought. I find premier x disappointing, I should of bought minichamps version. What are your thoughts on premier x?
@rps_reviews
@rps_reviews Год назад
Hard to say as I've never seen one in the flesh. From the pictures I'd say not as good as a Minichamps. But it does have these opening parts which makes up for the rest. Helmets are not good though.

I find the modelcar good but yes, with the same minuses that you mentioned. I would also add the fact that sometimes one of the rear wheels, when spinning, is not well centred. I've had 3 models of this car (I sold two and I kept one in my collection) and all 3 had this issue. I think I was the left rear wheel. I don't know if all these models have this issue or I've just had bad luck. Could you check your model and give me a feedback? Thank you!
@rps_reviews
@rps_reviews 2 года назад
All of the wheels on my model spin freely and don't wobble. In any case, as long as they are straight, I don't mind if they would not spin correctly.
@MegaRaduB1
@MegaRaduB1 2 года назад
Thank you! Yeah, still a bit disappointed though. For such an expensive modelcar one expects a better quality. It's not like I'm playing with it but I think that if the real car has wheels that spin and are centered, so should the modelcar also be.

Not bad but no original Minichamps always make Benetton or Mclaren ....Only two teams on F1 Grid?
@rps_reviews
@rps_reviews 2 года назад
It's more to do with them trying to get a return on investment of the expensive Schumacher and Senna licenses. For the same reason they are mostly focussed on Verstappen or Mick Schumacher models these days. Or look at their Moto GP models. They only made figurines for the Rossi bikes, with a few rare exceptions like for Simoncelli, Stoner, Lorenzo or Mick Doohan. They try to milk the cash cows they have.
