It looks like one training issue could be awareness of the ground. No matter what angle you swing it, you'll never hit the ground, which is obviously different than a real-length longsword.
There is that, yes, but that is the price you pay for not demolishing your ceiling or killing your lamps. It is not a replacement for a proper full size trainer, but I do not think it aims be to. :) - Peter
I would not say it is 100% the same, but I also do not think that that is the fault of this particular trainer. The mass is comparable, but it is concentrated in a much more compact format and that, to me, makes it feel a little different. That being said I would say it is quite close and definitely close enough to serve as a good training tool for when you do not have the room for the real thing. -Peter
Well, these are all pretty standard HEMA fencing jackets. :) The lighter blue one is a Neyman, that one you cannot get anymore, as the company went out of business. The others are Spes, and are reviewed here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-E_J5g0LfRgc.html and here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-437fdNBVZDU.html - Peter
There certainly are other products like this available from other manufacturers, thought this is the only one we have handled ourselves. VB swordshop for example has a "3-Pieces (disassembled) Set " where you can use the same grip for an indoor training blade, a feder blade and a blunt blade. If you search for "HEMA indoor trainer" you will definitely come up with some hits.
