Anthracite=type of coal . highest carbon content -burns clean =good for locos .

These are great little locos. I think, the heavy and light differences are boiler diameters. I ended up replacing the DCC/sound with Soundtraxx2 and TCS speaker. Awesome difference even running characteristics and a hard job. Great video, keep em coming!!

I believe the Heavy USRA steam engines had a larger boiler than the Light versions. I was wondering why no manufacture thought about adding the sand pipe lines instead of always molding them? Still I like the closeness between the engine and tender. Did you say 90+ cars? Wow, that's far more than any real USRA could handle in freight or passenger service. The most I've ever seen these pull was 30 freight and 22 passenger.

I bought the SRR 1381. It’s a great locomotive. I really wish BLI would do more whistles though.

Heavy Pacific? More like EXTRA THICC Pacific :P That Reading And Northern Pacific looks looks superb, maybe BLI would allow me a tour of their headquarters. It's not too far a drive from where I live.

do these have functioning smoke units?

Does anyone know if these tenders are interchangeable?

They don't have the actual whistle and bell sounds from bmrn 425 do they? Because if not they should, also is there room in the smoke box to fit a small bachmann smoke unit, I'm to afraid to open mine up. Thank you =)

Not that accurate and Whistle not even in the neighbor hood. Saw 425 last fall , Mth 3 rail is more accurate and the sound set .
