Fabulous and entertaining presentation. Agree with your reviews. Going to buy the trapeze dress. I may try the Maxie version.

Wool is a great fabric for all seasons, you just need a summer weight wool. It is moisture wicking. I also think you may be interested in Kibbe body types if you haven't heard of it yet. I think it will help you with seeing how the clothes look on different bodies and maybe figure out if it would be more or less flattering. If you do look into prepare to go down a rabbit hole. Do take it with a grain of salt, but it has helped me a lot. I think it's much better than the fruit system.

It's not size inclusivity either. When there's so much ease built into the garments that everyone has to size down, which is impossible. If you're already in the smallest size they offer. Size inclusivity goes both ways and I wish that could be mentioned more often. So I thank you for mentioning that.

The photos should show the model wearing a garment with the allowed ease. I bought a pattern for a beautiful fitted summer dress. It has princess seams front and back and is intended to be fitted in the top and flare out from the waist. The photo shows a beautiful fitted dress. Having bought the pattern I found the finished garment measurements include 6 inches of "ease" at the bust. It's a fitted dress! I'm a UK size 10 top so to get a reasonable fit I need a smaller size than the pattern provides. Very disappointed and out of pocket!

This is why finished garment measurements ON THE ENVELOPE are so important!

Hi Lindsay! I never miss your videos and enjoy them but today you have me laughing so hard talking about the play suit and the hip buttons! Just thinking about having to go to the bathroom is a nightmare worth of a movie with Chucky. I am laughing with tears running down my face! Thank you.

Yeah, I definitely chuckled at the yeast infection comment! 😂 I've always generally loved Butterick patterns. I tend to gravitate toward the more classic styles. Maybe I'm boring or uncool, but color-wise my closet looks like a colorful crayon box, lol. I also like to sew things just for the sake of trying them out. Also, Lindsey! A few years ago you and I were messaging about body shapes, mine in particular. I thought I was an apple, but I don't have a large bust, nor is my booty as small as the typical apple. I recently heard of a new (to me) shape label. Diamond! My hips and bust usually measure at the same size, but my waist measures two sizes larger. Hence, the child-drawing version of a diamond! That Marcy Tilton blouse seems like an upscale version of the current oversized white blouse/shirt trend. It's a bit quirky, but not bad. This go around, I liked the same designs you liked. Often I like the ones you dislike, lol! 😂

The 6990 retro kimono sleeve dress would be awesome with the sleeves in a contrast material. Either with 2 solid colors or 1 being a solid and 1 a print. (A great way to use up extra fabric). To get the stiffer appearance, you could use the quilting cottons.

Nothing reads “I made this myself” (not in a good way) like the dresses with the giant ric rac and Pom Pom trim. Please, just leave them off.

I HATE ric rac. I would uses a pretty ribbon trim or lace trim instead.

“A hip granny”!! You made me laugh. I disagree a lot of time on your comments on the fit, but that’s what makes fashion the challenge and fun that it is. Please keep making these videos.

I’ve been contemplating the putting a shelf bra into a woven top situation and the potential problems you’d encounter trying to do that for days. The shelf bra would surely have to be a knit fabric with negative ease vs a loose fitting, lightweight, flowy woven one and I wouldn’t trust those spaghetti straps to support any weight without ripping out but if I’m missing something I’d like to be educated!
@InsidetheHem
@InsidetheHem 3 месяца назад
The straps don’t really hold any weight. Even in bras. The weight is supported by the under bust band. So if the elastic on the band is tight enough you should be good.

I put B7001 on my wish list. Like you said, it's always a good deal to have a complete outfit in one pattern. Plus the pants have the ready-made side pockets -- can't stand having to draft them in myself on pants patterns that don't have pockets.

The little dress with the front zip in terry cloth would be a cute pool coverup. Quilt cotton for the 2nd retro dress would work.

Really enjoyed this video had me giggling throughout. I think in the UK the term playsuit is (or at least used to be) more common than romper so may be it was a UK designer for the 1950's playsuit??
@InsidetheHem

That or we changed it from play suit to romper for some reason.

That first dress is similar in the yoke area to one I recently did and I just want to warn everybody to measure for size before cutting because it was huge on me and I think I kind of sized down to start with. 7002 does not look comfortable. I do love the sleeve style, but the whole bodice doesn’t look like they fit either of them properly and they look uncomfortable. I might want to tuck them in, but I don’t know. I think I want some sort of shape on the top. Maybe something more to shape or give ease to the bodice.

I have that skirt pattern B6999 from the 80’s. Is it me or are the pattern companies just cranking out the same patterns over and over again ?

A mock fly has a zipper, it just isn't a true fly zipper. The fly look is accomplished with topstitching; there is not a fly shield, so much simpler to make.

Back in the day I think tropical wool was more available and used in spring and summer. I remember my mom having sleeveless dresses made of it. "Tropical wools or "cold wools" are fabrics made of worsted wool, with a light structure, and woven with a lesser thread count than usual. They are also breathable, thanks to their canvas weave that lets the air go by. Lastly, the tension that is given to the yarns gives the fabric less tendency to crease or wrinkle. Cold wool is ideal for spring and summer seasons but can actually easily be worn all year long, as wool has the specificity to let warmth out in summer, and to hold it in in summer."- De Bonne Facture 4/27/2020

The problem with Butterick is most are either in my pattern stash, or just plain boring. Where are the new exciting looks? When I think about P&P patterns, I remember I don’t have thighamongusgiantitis!

The cargo shorts were awful. I mean, if you can give a model a spare tire then you haven’t made the garment properly.
