I almost didn't buy this thing. I thought it looked cheap, but I took a chance and was surprised. It makes really good coffee. Definitely better if you used better coffee. I'd suggest that if you care a lot about how your coffee tastes, use good beans and grind it yourself. This makes a big difference over Folgers or Hills Brothers and definitely a lot better than instant. Depending upon the quality of the water you use, it may be a good idea to clean it with vinegar cut 50/50 with water. Run it through a cycle or two and then chase it with a couple of runs with clean water. Thanks for the video, John.
You're welcome and thank you for the comment and the information. I definitely agree that grinding beans make big difference I was really surprised on how much butter it tastes with freshly ground beans.
I prefer to use 100% Vinegar and then what I do is that I save the used vinegar in a container to run it thru for several more cycles in the future. Keep using it until it turns a dark brown.

@@JohnDaniels F.Y.I., John, I must tell you that this small coffee maker, makes 5 Cups and holds up, just like the large ones! Perfect for me because, it hardly takes.up any space. Tea, is made perfect in it too! I just open a tea bag and empty into the filter! You smell the aroma of the coffee or tea perkulating in less, than 5 minutes! I'm so happy and satisfied, with it! 🤗☕️😅☕️
Sometimes the Mr Coffee branded one is on sale for $12 or $15 and if it is you are better off to get the brand-name one which is built more durable than this Walmart one. If it lasts 3 years instead of 1 year than the extra money is worth it. You want to look at the best overall value, not just the cheapest price.
After using vinegar run clear water or your coffee will have a vinegar taste. Also with the basket I don't use a filter, it's fine enough to catch the coffee grounds.
a note on the whole "vinegar" to clean it. You should put vinegar in the pot to clean out hard water deposits, they've usually plug up a coffee maker in a bout a year, some will last longer. the vinegar desolves hard water deposits. If your pot starts slowing in perking, then you could be getting deposits inside the water tube where it comes out into the filter. A dishwasher won't clean that. Try vinegar before you throw away the pot! One pot of vinegar, then run two pots of water through to wash out the vinegar.
Push up black release tab under the filter before sliding carafe in or else it can break allowing liquid to flow continuously without anything to stop it.

I had this years ago then got a kurieg or however u say it then got a French press those two where so annoying buying the expensive cups and leaking and the the French press coffee grounds get into coffee and the glass broke after two months, my husband and I love coffee I just ordered this simple basic coffee maker that I once had years ago hopefully my husband likes it I miss mine wish I never got rid of it and only for 9$
I bought this today, and it's making very aggressive clicking sounds when brewing. It's almost like popcorn in a microwave. Is this normal? I ran vinegar through it and it's still happening
Also, use regular-size paper filters (you dont need the special hard to find smaller ones) & get them wet first then they stick to the side of the filter cup making it easy to pour the grounds in. I grind my own beans because pre-grounded coffee sucks. This maker produces 2 mugs of coffee (not 5 cups-why these manufacturers can't just say that is beyond me).
I just bought one of these and found the "how to use it" directions truly lacking. 1. As you noted, they recommend 1 scoops (5 grams) per cup. Fortunately, there is a cup measurement scale on the side of the pot. By pouring water from a 1/4c measure, and noting how many ounces it takes to reach the 2oz or 4oz lines on the carafe, you can determine if they are talking about 6oz coffee cups or 8oz water cups in the directions. I'll have to use my scale to determine how many grams of coffee in my coffee scoop. I think my 2tbsp scoop holds about 10grams of coffee which should make coffee up to the 2cup line. 2. The use of a 50/50 vinegar/water solution is only used for descaling the coffee maker from the water container to the carafe AND should really only be done about once every 2 weeks to 1 month (after 60 uses).
I appreciate this review but it did not answer my main question (which, oddly enough was also not answered on the item description page on the Walmart site) and that is: what size filters do I need for this? I bought it and the answer is: the 1-4 cup filters, but the regular size filters I had on hand worked just fine. This thing is tiny - which I love, but there is no way to tell how big the filter basket is from the pictures. BTW, I am loving this little thing. I'm the only one who drinks coffee and prefer cold brew, but this is way easier to maintain for someone with disabilities. Now I can have coffee every day.

Take the filter that comes with the unit out and buy a reusable filter and insert that if it fits. Then no need to buy paper filters. Yes run white distilled vinegar through the unit every 6 months or so. Cheers.
I have had this coffee maker before and it had a Basket to put the coffee in, I have purchased and took back 3 and None of them have a Basket in it. How Can I get the Basket?
Wow, that's pretty amazing, mine had the basket I wonder what's going on must be a bad batch of them being sent to that store I would try another Walmart. Actually I just use mine the other night had a big nice warm cup of coffee it's cold outside and just relax and drunk that coffee. take care and let me know if you get this sorted out.
That's a good question, no one's asked that before. It gets hot but not boiling hot. I remember McDonald's used to give you coffee and it would be just boiling in the cup take forever for it to cool down to drink it so this would be not boiling hot but not warm it would be in between it's almost like perfect so you could brew a cup pour it in and you'd have to sip it it's that hot you can't just start drinking it but it doesn't take too long to cool down for you to drink I hope that answers your question.

They are exactly $1.52, just wanted to make sure they fit since this coffee maker is 1 cup bigger (and I'm a coffee novice, this is for my bf lol). Hi John, I bought this coffee machine, & I have a big cup also, but mine is 2 cups & I only use 1 scoop of coffee...it would be too strong to use more than 1 cup!! My problem is where to buy the coffee filters ? They sell 1-4 or 4 or 4-6 but NO 5 ?? Please anyone know where to buy filter 5 ? I looked Walmart & Amazon
Yes, it makes perfect coffee, quickly so you can put the coffee in for the water in hit the button and within every 10 minutes I'll have a nice hot cup of fresh brewed coffee, if you get one and use it let me know what you think.
These are proof positive just how overpriced most coffee makers are. Absolutely the only improvement I'd like to see is to make it turn itself off right after brewing & NOT keep heating (& burning) the coffee in the pot for 2 hours. I have to use an appliance timer to shut it off after a few minutes because I really hate burnt coffee.
That's strange, I would think it's the coffee filter that controls the flow of water. For example, if there's no coffee filter at all, the water would flow really fast. But if you put a coffee filter in there, it's supposed to slow the water. So maybe try different coffee filter?
Good question, and it's been a year ago almost to the date. Yes still brewing out them coffees it was a good value with that price you don't know how long something's going to last. I've also been putting tea bags in it and I've got on this tea kick it's green tea but anyway if you get one let me know how it works out for you 👍🏻
The Worst coffee maker lI have ever seen, The water splashes all over but not to worry...the coffee never gets not. spend more money on a better machine and get real coffee.
