Great review. I have a C9 spruce and it's fairly loud and plays well. The treble is less than the bass in projection. I don't have a 5k serious guitar and the C9's pleasant to play. My repair luthier said it is well made and very decent. I'd love to compare myself to the C12 but no one stocks them here. Thanks for the review.

Thanks for the review! In your opinion, how does the C10 compare to the C12? There's not a lot of price difference between the C9 and C10, but there is a huge difference between the C10 and C12 (about a $600US difference). I have a C12, and often wonder if the extra features are really worth the extra money that I paid. You've played both, so your opinion will be noted.
@Thisisclassicalguitar
@Thisisclassicalguitar 7 лет назад
The C12 is a bigger sound and keeps up in larger rooms. The tone is also a bit better, more woody rather than the plasticy sound. Raised fingerboards are also hugely beneficial. I think it is worth the extra money.

Thank you very much for your review. There is one aspect I don't feel you address. It's made in China. At that price range (2000 Canadian), I feel that there are many great options that are handmade in Spain. Do you feel that at that price point, it's a harder sell when it's made in China?

I personally don't think it matters what country it comes from. It all comes down to final quality control before shipping to sell it. Well made is well made no matter on the country. Yes, it has gotten a bit better over the last few months for sure. I've been using it for teaching and quite like it for the price. I tried it in the hall next to $6000-$8000 guitars and it did not keep up. However, in smaller rooms it sounds good and I've rehearsed with it. For the price it's great, if you want something that will keep up in the hall but is under $2500 I would upgrade to the Cordoba C12 which has more projection and body overall.

I have a Cordoba C5 and it is a nice entry to intermediate level. One of the things I notice is the high action. I am not sure how to deal with that other than the truss rod. Is there a Cordoba classical that is a low action closer to that of a steel string acoustic? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
@Thisisclassicalguitar
@Thisisclassicalguitar 6 лет назад
Actually, compared to high level classical guitars I think the Cordoba action is nice and low. That said, not sure about your specifically. Depends on how much you dig in with the right hand which will create buzz if the action is too low.

Considering grabbing a Cordoba C10 for myself - do you think Cedar or Spruce is the better option? I realize that is a subjective choice, but I'm wondering if there's a more clear better decision when discussing factory made more budget-friendly classicals like the C10. If nothing else, what is your preference? Thanks for the videos!
@Thisisclassicalguitar
@Thisisclassicalguitar 3 года назад
In my experience the Cedars are just better for the average student, they tend to be louder, more responsive, and fuller. These factory guitars a bit over-built and have a heavy finish so the lighter cedar tends to respond better. I always recommend the cedars for my students. For more advanced players it's really your choice and I do like the sound of the spruce.

@Thisisclassicalguitar
@Thisisclassicalguitar 6 лет назад
Well, it depends. The best value is the cheapest guitar because it's amazing that the modern economic world can outsource guitars and make a functional instrument for $150. That said, since it's our art form we'll want as good as we can get. I think the C9 and C10 are very good for the price (all solid wood, pretty good tone). The C12 is also good as it can really keep up with expensive instruments in terms of volume, so maybe the C12.

He said it was loud several times.. And It is. I have the cedar top C10....Diff between the 10 and the 9 is the 9 has laminate (veneer) back and sides; not solid wood as does the 10 and upwards....M

The 9 is solid wood, not veneer, it is mahogany [a cheaper wood] rather than rosewood. @@MarkInLA

I'm just messing around there. Maybe it sounds similar to Spanish Romance: www.thisisclassicalguitar.com/spanish-romance-tab-free-pdf/

Cordoba is made for American market. You seldom see it in other countries. It's not like Yamaha. It is everywhere. Yamaha is cheap and good. Cordoba is not that cheap and have action problem. Most people have to spend more money to get the action adjusted. It is a nuisance if you live in a place with no facility to get that done. The guitar can be totally messed up if it is not done by an expert.

This one is not $7000 (maybe you were watching my other video of the Dominelli). This one is around $1000

I know I was talking about your other guitar. This C10 looks nice and sounds well.

It sounds plasticky probably because of the spruce top.
@Thisisclassicalguitar
@Thisisclassicalguitar 6 лет назад
I think the spruce improves the sound but the polish on these is so thick that I think that would be the culprit.

For 1,100 it should not sound platicy at all.
@Thisisclassicalguitar

Well, only compared to an $8000 guitar. For it's price I think the sound is pretty great.

Yes, I would like to but it's difficult to get my hands on these. Maybe in the future.

I wish it was made anywhere but China...
@Thisisclassicalguitar
@Thisisclassicalguitar 3 года назад
Why? China makes lots of great products, it all comes down the the specific company and their quality control guidelines. I've found Cordoba's quality control to be excellent. Usually the culprit is dry and cold warehouses of amazon or other large sellers.

I have a C10. Tuners broke soon after purchase. Two quick repairs followed (also failed) Now trying to get different tuners but proving difficult here in Thailand. Tuners are rubbish. Guitar cannot be tuned so cannot be played. Don't buy one .cordoba C10 is s**t.
