This is an excellent explanation of the new Algebra 1, thank you! I’m now trying to find out when the new Pre-Algebra will be out because I’m told that’s the next course they are reworking. If you happen to know, that would be super helpful 😊
I was informed that they are working on Geometry/Algebra 2. Maybe for the following school year, FALL 2024. The new program appears to be for those families who live in states which require curricula aligned with the common core. I know many kiddos, including my own, who have been very successful in college and on SATs/ACTs with the original/legacy program. The original program isn't going away.
@@katk3381 that doesn't sound like a move MUS would make. Our suggestion is that anyone looking into this program, first investigate this claim before accepting this as fact. In our last conversation with MUS, they didn't even have any release dates for revisions.
Would like to know your thoughts after used with your daughter. Content wise, does it compare to legacy version or is it more advanced? Not having mr.Demme as the instructor, do you feel like the explanation of the concepts were clear? I’m debating is I should do the legacy version or this one with my son.. any tips/advice will be appreciated. Thanks for this detailed video
Thank you for review. I'm like some of the new features but I don't like sending my kids to do school work/watch videos on the computer because there are just too many distractions. I think I will stick with Mr Demme originals.
Thank you for this amazing review. What's the difference between the brown legacy and this blue version. Do you know if pre algebra blue is coming out soon? I had made the decision to use MUS for pre algebra all they way to calculus. (First time using MUS) i haven't make the purchase yet.
Our family has been using the original legacy program for over 6 years with our children. I was told that the original/legacy version is not going away by any means. MUS created the "new" series for Algebra especially for the folks who have to have their curricula aligned with the common core for high school math due to their states' homeschooling regulations & restrictions. Legacy is k-12 and isn't going away. The new program might just be the Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Trig, Calc. It was my understanding when I spoke to MUS rep that they plan to come out with the subsequent new version levels each year. We do math and a couple other programs year round so the new math levels will not come out fast enough for our needs. Plus, the new program doesn't offer DVDs at this time and there are just too many distractions for kids to learn directly on the computer. Our kiddos enjoy popping the DVDs in and playing Mr Demme on our TV and it feels to them that they are sitting in his small class setting. They love his silly anecdotes too. We're sticking with legacy. The original version works extremely well, our eldest tested out of college algebra requirement using CLEP when he was 15 and passed it with ease/high marks. He went on to take college precalculus and got 100% in class. (He had already done MUS pre-calc.)
@@katk3381 Thank you for this reply. I'm really leaning more into sticking with the OG Legacy. My Freshman has a few weeks left of Pre-Algebra before I have to buy Algebra 1, so I've been doing a ton of research to try and decide between Legacy or the new one. My kids absolutely love Math U See and have done so well, and I suppose I figure if it isn't "broke" don't fix it. Also the price of this new program isn't my favorite. I'm still going to do some research, but I appreciate your comments on this video. Thank you.
Our reviewer confirmed he is not doing the videos, but she felt the new videos covered the content even better than the previous ones and they focused more also on vocabulary than before.
