Review: Dunhill "Three Year Matured Virginia" 

First of all, what idiot gives these resplendent reviews a thumbs down? My favourite part of the Stuff&Things channel are the pipe tobacco reviews. No one does them with such thoroughness as Mr. Bradley.

Hello there briar brother. I started pipe smoking 3 years ago exclusively on aromatics, keeping confidence that it would keep me away from the unpleasent essence of common cigarettes (I hate it..). I was stubborn enough not to try non aromatics for like 2 years. All in all, after having been pushed by fellow pipe smokers reviews', I haven't puffed an aromatic for a year now. Passed in to the dark side! All the ocean of flavour that could not be tasted otherwise. Can't wait to get that dunhill blend. Cheers, best from Greece!

just tried this today, and wow, I'm really impressed. Top of the line virginias.

I've got access to the original Dunhill blend in bulk for 5.80 per oz! The large jar that is standing there in the back of my local tobacco store looks like it has been forgotten for some decades with a hand written "Dunhill Three Year" label. The cut is finer then the current Dunhills. Pretty strong but absolutely no topping to detect (anymore...?). No fruitiness what so ever. The taste is bready, yeasty, somewhat "milky". Very good...

I bought it from Smokingpipes.com. I like it, It is not strong and not too mild. I love the adding flavour, it is fresh and sweet, also the virginia smell

The description you give sounds very promising. Worth a try. The previous (Murray) release was actually an enjoyable smoke ... top quality Virginia tobaccos with a fair amount of body and satisfaction. Unfortunately, the flavouring was of the berry type (blackberry or raspberry perhaps), which happens to be my least favourite. So, very glad to hear it's moved in the citrus direction. Adding a touch of oriental leaf is a great move, found in a number of the German and Danish light aromatics based mostly on Virginia leaf. It seems to heighten the effect of the flavouring and prevents it from becoming tiring or overbearing. Love the look of those Peterson 68's, but the brandy shapes tend to be gurglers in my experience. Perhaps the extra width at the bottom encourages condensation near the draft hole.

Awesome review! Super stoked. I just bought some Dunhill Three Year and some Peterson Irish Flake! I watched your Irish Flake review and had to try it. Saw the Three Year while on Smoking Pipes and added it too. Will be cellaring the Three Year though. Again, awesome review. Keep it up!

good stuff! I've been reaching for 3 blends pretty often recently: Orlik Golden Sliced, Gawith's Brown Sugar Flake, and this blend. I really dug Royal Yacht but there's something about this blend that's special.

i reaaalllly like this blend. i ignored it for so long too with all the elizabethan hype. tried many Va blends and disliked alot of them, but wow this blend is great. i havent opened a tin of elizabethan in weeks

Hey Bradley just got a tin of this believe it or not at a local B&M and I'm in agreement with your review points reminiscent of Dunhill Elizabethan they have two more tins gonna scoop em' up.

I recently bought a couple Peterson silver mounted orange army pipes $116 at smoking pipes I think you might like them Bradley worth checking out and the all have perfect straight grain.

Hi Bradley, Do you know there is a "new" Dunhill called "Ready Rubbed" a virginian mix due in the UK in August I think? I tried a tin of BB1938 very smooth and rather nice but it wont IMHO topple Nightcap from being my favourite Dunhill! Keep up the good work!

Nice review. This will be on my next order. Your description of flavor and leaf reminds me of Patriot Flake, which is one of my favorites. If you've had it, how does it compare?

Great review ! I am currently awaiting for this blend to be delivered. I have been concerned though about this "essence" and Ghosting any of my pipes. What are your thoughts 💭 I'm strictly an English, Balkan, VaPer pipe smoker, and until after I hit the buy button; did not realize it was cased with flavoring. I thought I ordered a straight Aged Virginia with multiple layers of stoving. Will this blend ghost a pipe as I do not have a dedicated aromatic pipe as I just do not smoke them. Enjoyed your review as always. One comment on the "Nicotine level" if I might. Since your rating on this is by no means scientific, why not just refer to it with terms that is more representative of how you judge it? For example, "Buzz level" is one example that just came to mind. Just my 2 cents.

I wanted to ask you if you have a physical business where you live ? The reason for my question is that I was looking at a RV lifestyle video on youtube and saw a Stuff & Things sign has they where driving through the northwest not sure if it was Oregon or washington state though

This review of Dunhill's Three Year Matured is the first of your reviews that I've watched and I like very much the way you approach it. I've just been to Germany (Leipzig) where I visited the Casa de Habanos shop - www.tabak-kontor.de. A fantastic store with a friendly, knowledgeable staff and an amazing variety of top tinned pipe tobaccos, as well as a large walk-in cigar humidor. I purchased a tin of the TYM there and I just cracked it open and smoked it while watching your review. I recall liking this tobacco in the U.S. when it was produced by Dunhill, but it's been so long that I can't really make any meaningful comparisons. One thing I particularly like about it is a quality that I think you hinted at: it is very well "balanced", with no component predominating other than the very nice aged Virginia natural fullness. There is a bit of "spice" that may be merely the "oriental" touch rather than any "topping". I do sense some slight fruit in the tin note, but not in the pipe (an Ashton Sovereign XX shape 21 Lovat). It is also a very cool smoke that burns perfectly after the second light. Thanks for the review and I look forward to viewing your other contributions.

I know this is an older review, but I have to say that even though I don't particularly like English blends as you do, I do like vapers and some aromatics. That having been said, I still like to watch all of your reviews of tobaccos. I don't care for a substantial latakia presence, so I know when you say "alottalatakia" , I probably won't like it. Besides, you seem like an ok guy and you are definitely entertaining at times. Just my 2 cents.
