I feel you. I was raised in a nominal Christian home that never really cared about growing in the Lord. When I came to faith I realized what a precious thing we missed as a "Christian family" by not spending time together with the Lord. Got married recently and by God's grace me and my wife are practicing family worship. And, oh how I wish that this goes down to generations to come!
So much loss I have felt, at an early age, I was very interested in going into the ministry- if it was a call, I don’t truly know. But, from 15 years, my parents were very much against it. And despite advice about how one could just leave and move in with another family- I found I simply couldn’t leave the “ stability “ of a home. If for a moment, revival had come to my parents, I wonder how things could be different.
I wasn't raised in a Christian home. My wife was but devotion was done on the way home from church when her overbearing father told them all why their Pastor was wrong yet again. We have 5 kids and we all read a chapter or three from the Bible after dinner each night. This resource would be very useful.
This book was really helpful in getting family worship started as a regular habit after dinner. We have been doing one psalm per night working our way through the psalter. There is nothing airy fairy about the devotions in this book. They are short but often hard hitting and I love it
We’ve been using this for a couple of years. It is excellent. Use it and stop putting off family worship! You don’t have to spend hours to prepare a lesson. Read scripture, pray, and use this (or other good devotional).
Matt, you are quickly going up on the list of my favourite RU-vidrs. When I first saw your videos on Jonathan Edwards Miscellanies and Study Notes I wasnt even a Calvinist. Now the only thing I disagree with you on is Infant Baptism and I'm probably wrong about that too.
Family Worship Bible Guide is an excellent little book. Love the videos Matthew produces. Will be looking up Essential Truths of the Christian Faith. Need to add that to the list.
Pastor Matt, have you had any experience with the 3 volume Family Worship Bible Commentary? I'm looking for reviews on it but I haven't found any. Thank you in advance! May the Lord bless you and keep you.
Hi Pastor Matt, I have been enjoying your videos and have learnt and been encouraged by your words. Can I ask you 1 question as I visit a modern evangelical Anglican church. If we by the Holy spirit are encouraged to sing a new song to the Lord. Why is this not looked upon as wholesome as it were in similar churches to your own. Peace and blessings
I have not read Ryrie, but my favorite book on covenant theology is Christ of the Covenants by O. Palmer Robertson. He also has a chapter in that book addressing dispensationalism vs covenant theology which is very fair and helpful.
though they were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad-in order that God’s purpose of election might continue, not because of works but because of him who calls- she was told, “The older will serve the younger.” As it is written, “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.” What shall we say then? Is there injustice on God’s part? By no means! For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” Romans 9:11-15 ESV
@ashleylatimer2607 Did you know that he also believed in baptizing babies? Serious word twisting to even attempt to prove that. The Catholics do this and have helped millions to hell, and continue to do so. False security
@@ironleatherwood what’s wrong even if RC did say that? If God is he who saves His people, and not all people are saved by Him, then He must not save all people? Like what Calvin says “all men are to be taught that the favor of God is offered to all who ask without exception, only those who do ask are those whom heaven by grace inspires” RC would say the we whom grace inspired to repent were Gods people. But those who don’t ask, God to glorify Himself passes over with saving Grace. There is no injustice on Gods part thats what Paul says in Romans 9. You can’t fear a God who doesn’t save people. Why fear God if I saved myself. If we left salvation up to man, he’d forever be lost
