After sighting in at 60 feet, I could easily cover 5 shots with a nickel ru-vid.comUgkxQt2uORDRfFOVSrO4idv4B90ThT6EOnEL ! Truly a pleasure to shoot! Scope was easy to adjust for eye relief. Only problem the varmints must have seen it delivered lol!Update: So impressed with shot groups at 30 yards I purchased a Hammers 3×9 with adjustable Objective scope! Now a true nail driver!

I've had this gun for 5 months. I upgraded the scope to a Hammers - Air Gun Rifle Scope 3-9x40AO Magnum. Since then my shots have been at a consistent dead center at 25 yards. My backyard is only so big, so that's where I have it sighted. That's using Crosman Premier .22 cal Domed Ultra Magnum 14.3 gr. pellets. I also have heavier grained Gamo pellets that perform just as well at the same distance. Note: I took a robin on the very top branch of a tree at 98.7 yds. (I used my range finder). Thought I missed it until it dropped. I qualified Expert in the army with an M16-A1 with open sights, but that was 33 years ago. My eyesight isn't nearly as good as it once was (I wear glasses now). This gun is just that good. It has a LOT of power for a break barrel, and doesn't break the bank. It does take about 200 shots for the 60 lb pull to settle down. At first I didn't think I'd be able to cock it. Once it breaks in, it's awesome.

I have the same rifle, I took out the 6mm second stage trigger adjustment screw replaced it with a 8mm screw screwed it in all the way now my second stage is much shorter and my shots are touching. The pellet I use is H&N FTT 14.66gr head size 5.53mm

I appreciate numbers, so many other reviews are too focused on personal opinions and experiences; I prefer videos that look more at expectations, claims, confirmed real world performance, and overviews of pros and cons objective and quantitative. I don’t really care what anyone thinks. I like numbers that can help me form my own opinions. This guy knows how to educate consumers. Most reviewers sound like they have stock in the company, he seems like he’ll be straightforward regardless of the outcome

I Just brought back my Benjamin XL 1100 because with less than 50 shots in, and almost done zeroing the rifle, the scope feel off. No ... really, the actual mounted Picatinny rail fell OFF THE XL. They asked me if I wanted another XL and I could not refuse fast enough. To replace it I actually got the Gamo Magnum as the alternative and have to say , I LOVE IT. Such a light rifle, the scope is SO MUCH nicer than the one that comes on the Benjamin. The site rail even has a nice rubber buffer which cuts back on the recoil A TON. The XL felt like a fricken mule kicking .. lol. Accuracy is also STELLAR on the Gamo and the stock trigger is actually nice and crisp. I am getting a 1" grouping at 35 yards using a rest for stability. I appreciate the fact the scope mount with the recoil absorption works SUPER WELL and I no longer need to use the Artillery Hold (which I hate). I also don't agree on the cocking, mine cocks VERY NICE and I don't find it tuff at all. I would not give it to my kids, but I am 43 and in average shape and it cocks smooth. I use a heavy pellet and do not find sound to be an issue as well. I live on one acre with neighbours and I shoot this in my backyard. I would NEVER replace this with the XL Trail. Funny how everyone likes different things and I am super happy you like the XL over this, but my experience is a full 180 of your. Regardless, glad we are both happy with what we have. Take care.

Thanks for the video... I have this rifle in .22 magnum. It's really nice to shoot. Your right it's loud and very accurate. I have no problem shooting and cocking the rifle a 100 times or more. I'm in my 50's.. I paid $224 on Amazon. I don't recommend this gun if you live in a neighborhood with houses close together. But, if you live out of town and have places to shoot, then I do recommend this rifle. It hits really hard. So, make sure you have a good back stop. It will go through 2x4's. My wife can't cock it, but she shoots it very well out to 50 yards. But she does shoot real firearms as well.

I have seen several of your rreviews & you are very thorough and to the point. You are a natural. I have a Crosman .177 Storm XT..Very Accurate.. a Crosman Optimus .177 I just bought a couple months ago and it has become an accurate rifle as well after shooting several hundred shots through it.. Also have a Crosman ShockWave .22 which is an okay gun.. accuracy isn't what it should be yet but getting better as I shoot it more.. and my favorite Benjamin .22 cal. Jim Shockey Steel Eagle.. This gun is powerful , quiet , cocks super easy and very accurate.. at 57 feet I put pellets inside same holes repeatedly. But it was terrible at first 150 or 200 shots.. Thanks again Kenny for a great job telling us the facts.

it is mechanically precise. if rested, the gas piston acts in straight line with the barrel, fired from the shoulder, it will move your body and throw you off target, even with a very light atillery grip.

My son bought me a Gamo Raptor Whisper .22 caliber air rifle for Christmas. It has a muzzle brake and silencer. I guess I got lucky, the 4x32 scope working great and it's really quiet compared 22 pellet rifles with no silencer. Using Gamo red fire polymer tip pellets I get pretty good groupings. The whisper sound suppression technology is a big improvement. Thanks for your video's their very informative. Even a car company that has a model that's mostly lemons has one come of the line made just right one out of a hundred or so.

Keep posting dailymotion links, i'll click them, mute the tab and watch here. Switch arms when cocking, or your developing six pack will be croocked. The finishing is terrible, mine already shows first signs of rust at the outside of the barrel and piston. But i still love it. The ergonomic design, the precision, the power, the kick in the ass, the exercise and the fact, that it teaches it's user so strictly. The scope kept wandering, so i cut an M8 thread through the rail and the mount and fixed it with a worm screw !after tightening it down!. Nice review, thank you and have a nice weekend!

My G-Magnum IGT .22 is on par on every level with my cousin's Diana 350 Magnum N-tec (at 35 yards at least), his gun might have a higher quality feeling with wooden stock and lighter trigger pull but accuracy, power etc are on same level with both guns. Gamo is also alot lighter weight to hold. We usually shoot at 35 yards distance with JSB Exact Jumbo Heavy 18grainers which shoot very well on both guns. At 35 yards my 5 shot groups are usually size of a tip of my index finger. These powerful airguns need a heavier pellet to calm it down. I noticed that standard 14 grain pellet weight sometimes was just a tiny bit too light. His gun costs 2x the price and the claims for fps were the same, both guns penetrating just as good, if Gamo not even better. The energy is there. Next thing we need to do is move our targets further on distance to see what happens. But by so far, very satisfied with this gun. Gamo brand pellets (Hunter, Magnum, Pro-Magnum etc) were a disaster don't try them guys :) Just ordered some more JSB (10 tins, 500 pellets per tin). Btw that Diana he has, constantly needs all screws tightened again and again and again, mine hasn't got any screws loose yet.
@nippez
@nippez 6 лет назад
By the way my gun is the newer G-Magnum IGT Whisper, Gamo website has it but it was very hard to find a shop that sells that suppressed Whisper variant. Only found one shop from Netherlands that sells where I bought it from by so far. Regular model is 124cm in length where as Whisper variant is 134cm so with 10cm difference in length I'm supposing the actual barrel might still be the same with all it's rifling and affecting length.

Hi Nippez, is the variant you bought in the Netherlands capable of shooting supersonic with the right ammo? And does it actually shoot 360 m/s, because one webshop in the Netherlands says it shoots 260 m/s and the other says 360(.22 cal). Im also interested in which shop you bought it from...
@nippez
@nippez 6 лет назад
Matthijs Knol Preferably you should not be shooting at supersonic speeds because it might affect your pellet flight trajectory in a worse way. Creating swirls of air under the pellet on flight and it comes unstable especially for longer range. I avoid to shoot any pellet under 14grains to make sure my pellets flight consistently and I kinda think too light pellet might take extra strain on your magnum power air rifle even tho these are gas pistons which should last forever. Surely it will go supersonic if you put any lighter pellets and want to shoot the around claimed chronospeeds. I myself don't own an air rifle chronometer to measure speeds but the power is there trust me. But do know, Every air rifle manufacturer measures those speeds with the lightest pellet possible. You notice supersonic speeds when you shoot your rifle and it makes a loud cracking noise, I believe I used to get that loud bang while I was testing through various type of pellets, including the light jsb exact rs (13.8grains maybe?). But those extralight versions are ment for law regulated 16joule air rifles just to compensate the power restrictions with lighter bullets. I can't remember the exact claims but you can check them on Gamo's website. 4.5mm(.177) has like +100m/s more claimed speed than its 5.5mm(.22) variant but when you take pellet weights into calculation the force on impact/power of the rifle is alot more on 5.5mm. Was like 36 joules vs 45 joules. Can't remember exact numbers and I'm on mobile now too lazy to google around. Also sorry for this wall of text, had some extra time xD I bought it from www.db-schietsport.nl/en/ You can take that /en/ off if you can understand Dutch. I'm from Finland so I hope you understand my english :) P.S. I just bought 10x 500 tins more this Jsb Exact Jumbo Heavy. So it's 5000 pellets. They work so well.

Is this gun accurate at 50 yards and durable also?
@ecoovert
@ecoovert 6 лет назад
The accuracy appears to be OK, but how do you feel it compares the the Hatsan 125. I almost always get single hole groups with mine at 30 yards with Crosman Premiers. Mine really does great with the 18.13 grain JSB Exact Jumbo Heavy pellets. My best 3 shot groups at 50 yards with those pellets have been sub 1/4", with my average groups at that distance being just above 1/3". What's neat is those pellets also generate the most energy out of my gun. The Hatsan seems to generate more energy with the heavier pellets, above 31 fpe. with the JSB Exact Jumbo Heavy pellets in my case; whereas with the RWS Hobby pellets, the muzzle velocity is only averaging 1010 fps. Personally, I prefer the higher energy being with the heavier pellets, particularly when they are the most accurate out of my gun as well. I was so impressed with your video where you shot through both sides of 6 tin cans, 12 layers of tin with the Hatsan 125 that I ended getting one for myself. It's as heavy as a Sherman tank, but it sure can take down game at a good distance.
@myairgunreviews

I would only use the Gamo Magnum over the Hatsan if I needed that much power and was going to be carrying it through the woods for a long time.
@ecoovert
@ecoovert 6 лет назад
Well, in a survival situation, I guess I'd just have to pull it around in a trailer. Mine is the TH version so it doesn't have sling swivels.I guess I could just get a long soft case for it. I guess to give it such accuracy and power, it's just going to have to be heavy. This thing is nearly as accurate as my Anschutz .22 lr.

The cocking effort is kinda high, but you grow into it (switch arms in order to keep your body symmetrical!) It is loud, but once you've fired very light ammo, the ringing in your ears will dampen that. The barrel will rust soon, therefor it will provide better grip. A beast of an airgun, accurate enough and much fun. I would buy again.

@@61804shill There also is stuff called engineoil, but i don't polish my car with it. Unscratched finishing shouldn't rust. Oil is there for moving, unfinished, parts, not to keep the surface from rusting. That's what the finishing is for. Manny people think before they comment.... try that.

I notice that GAMO is NOT serious about their (open sights) adjustable dial. There is no numbers on the dial! most gunners will have a "dope" sheet handy letting them know where to set that dial to match the yardage they are shooting at All GAMO has is a bunch of rings on the adjusting dial instead of numbers. That is why I will never buy another GAMO . ITS A SHAME... other wise it looks like a nice airgun. CHEERS.

@JC-fj7oo
@JC-fj7oo 5 лет назад
I would say it does not count as a "magnum" there really is no official definition but over 20fpe is a pretty good reference for "high power" or "magnum". I have a prowler and love it but it only produces around 16.5fpe which is much lower than the claimed numbers. Like he pointed out in the video are usually just made up numbers. 12-20fpe is considered standard for hunting so the Prowler is average.

I love this gun! It's accurate and actually has a little more power then the Hatsan 125 sniper vortex in .22(there close) which is saying something.

II have a webly patriot in .25 but it weighs like 11 lbs with scope that has 31 fpe but It's like dragging a boat anchor around in the field. I'm 70 yrs old now and am looking for the lightest weight most powerful break barrel in 22 and above. This gamo is packing energy exceeding many .25 cal rifles and yet is only half the weight. I look at the fpe of many of the others and wonder why anyone looking for a hunting rifle would buy them. 22 ft lbs from a 25 cal rifle is foolish when you can get a 22 that has 28 ft lbs. is there any other 8 lbs or less than can match this rifle for power in a break barrel? Not interested in Pcp at all.

Gamo is Spanish but in Spain the Magnum doesn't cost anything. Why? Because it is too powerful, therefore forbiden. Nobody with a hunting license wants to buy it because huntig with airguns is also forbiden.
@geos4766
@geos4766 7 лет назад
Perico De Lospalotes Really? About how much does it cost? Well, the fun part is that here they sell it without a silencer and a scope, for twice the price of USA. Oh. And hunting with any airgun is prohibited. Funny place.
@pericodelospalotes5738
@pericodelospalotes5738 7 лет назад
Nobody sells that Magnum air rifle over here, no idea of how much it would cost. Hunting with air guns or 22 lr is forbiden. Shotshell shotguns for small game and centerfire rifles or crosswbows for big game but in order to buy any crossbow (no matter its power) you need a hunting license too, as well as for black powder guns.

Nice video! I have a question. How loudy is the sound when shooting? In a scale from 1 to 10 where 10 is the noisier, if you score it how noisy will be? I know there is a "whisper" version of the same rifle which claims to be 50% silencer. What do you think? I do not how yardfriendly is this rifle. Thanks a lot!

I wonder if the Gamo Swarm Magnum in .22 would be the same numbers??
@NateFromIT

I have a Gamo Magnum and a Gamo Swarm Maxxim I would think the Swarm Magnum would get the same results as the Non Swarm Magnum as its all the same power plant its just the pellet loader thats different. I might pick up the Swarm Magnum once its available. My Swarm Maxxim in 22 has never missed a beat.

I've been researching some pellet rifles for some casual critter hunting and there seems to be a lot of people comparing these .177 BB and pellet rifles to rifles that fire .22LR bullets. Is this accurate? I've shot plenty of pellet rifles and .22 rifles and have never had the thought they were similar. The noise of a .22LR is much much louder and rings out great distance in the air. Do modern pellet rifles do the same? Also, despite what some people claim I'd find it pretty hard to believe a pellet rifle such as this has a chance at being comparable to a .22LR for hunting small game. I bet at short range you could kill the same critters, but is one of these pellet rifles going to be able to *reliably* take out something larger like a coyote or 50 lb hog?
@myairgunreviews
@myairgunreviews 7 лет назад
I have pellet rifles that will put a pellet clean trough a 10lb block of clay at 20 yards. And using Alloy pellets, I've seen 120db out of some pellet rifles.
@Magneticitist
@Magneticitist 7 лет назад
I see that most of these high powered air rifles seem to be using a spring loaded propulsion whereas the rifles I remember as a kid were pressurized air and you could pump them multiple times for a desired fps. Seems counter-intuitive because the spring-fired BB guns I remember were always the inferior ones you and your friends could shoot at each other without real threat of harm. Going through the block of clay at over 50 ft is pretty impressive. I've seen what modded guns can do firing .177 pellets at over 2000 fps and it's pretty devastating so anything hitting over 1300 fps is probably going to be pretty intimidating I guess. Seeing as a well planted shot is usually necessary with even higher caliber gun powder rounds if you want to drop something on the spot, I think this rifle would be a decent investment.

Two very equal guns. Gamo has a better trigger and is lighter but you have a much higher risk of getting a Lemon with Gamo in my opinion.
