Here is my review of ARS as a heat and air conditioning installation company and authorized contractor for Home Depot. There was a lot of calls and very cold and very hot nights in my home, but after 4 months they may have got it right. I guess only time will tell, the heater is working now, but I really hope the AC works in the summer on this HVAC system.

Update: ARS did come out after 12 services calls and much inconvenience to us and replace the entire unit with a carrier. After that was done there was only one more issue with a short that caused issues with the thermostat, but they did fix this as well. I hope that they can improve the quality of installation from the start moving forward and ope that others do go through the same pains as us.

Thank you for the review. I just had someone here yesterday and and my mom signed forms that he told her was not binding and she can call and cancel before it's install date in 4 days. We have someone coming today from del air to see what he's offering. I'm already not cool on the price of $8,000 for a 3.5 14 seer rheem. The reviews I read are mostly bad at around 90% bad, 2% good, and the rest not decided. I'm in central Florida near disney and i see everyone around us is giving bad reviews. eek! Thanks again for your story, it helps.

You are welcome, AC is one of the most costly things to fix in your home. I am going to do an update video on ARS, they did come out and replace the entire unit with a carrier, so I can say they did make it right, but I don't know if this review had anything to do with that.

Also my wife says that price is a bit high, we paid $6K for a 4 ton and that was a 15 seer.

Sorry to hear about the problems you’ve been having. I work for ARS in California myself. I really hate hearing these kinds of stories because I’m not a technician I’m the sales person that works in my local Home Depot, and it’s this of stuff that really upsets me. The techs not only hurt the company but hurt the reputation of the sales rep who most times are well known and even grew up in that community when they provide poor service. Ive had a couple of complaints come my way, and even though I’m the lowest on the totem pool, I make it clear to my management whose reputation they are harming when things like this happen. It is simply unacceptable and you deserve better. Sorry for your loss of time and I’m sorry for your unsatisfactory experience

Thank you for your sentiment and taking the time to watch our video! We are sure there are some great techs that do work for ARS, we just didn't get to meet a lot of them. The issue I saw with the ARS tech was mostly they seemed rushed because they had so much work, some saying they work 12 hours a day. This is not a good business model because people get burnt out, rushing from place to place the first thing to usually suffer is quality. This install cost ARS more than they made unless the markup on the units is over 100%. The salesperson that sold us this unit also did not do a Calculate Size of AC Unit needed per square foot based on location and home efficiency. We told them that the old unit was oversized when we bought the home leaving the floor humid because it did not cycle enough. We were able to get him to agree that we could go down a ton, and the price seemed fair, but still were not happy with the lack of technical detail during the sale. You are right all the above does hurt the company's reputation, this hurts all the people working for ARS. We wish you the best and hope that issues like this are becoming less common.

Unfortunately, I have gotten some complaints. I try my best to fix them to the best of my ability. Frankly, I don’t even care if the customer buys from us. I do make commission but I value my integrity more which seems to actually have a positive effect on my sales, ironically. I’m a huge supporter of researching before you buy and tell my customers we do do free estimates but ensure that they do their research. My management seems to be shocked I’m doing well, especially in a small town Home Depot. But, if you have integrity and treat the customers the way you would like to be treated, the sales will come with that. Unfortunately, a lot of sales people don’t understand that.

I also went through Home Depot and had ARS install AC furnace combo and man... I had so many problems. Polar vortex hit and our brand new furnace was out. At least a dozen problems within two years. Tried to charge me for everything.

Well on this AC install, after 13 service calls they just replaced the whole thing, I am going to make an update to this video after time pass and I think we are good. The installation was done by ASR a contracted AC installation company for HomeDepot, I am just glad that they did fix it. Hard to fault HomeDepot for this, glad that this issues got resolved.

I would try to get it repaired by ARS, it to us a lot of time and was a pain. We did get our unit replaced after 7 times to fix this one under lemon law.

Did they do a load calculation?
@ChrisDoesWhat
@ChrisDoesWhat 5 лет назад
No they did not, they just said I had a 5 ton and that a 5 would be fine, but more is better. I calculated the house myself needing 48,000 BTU which is 4 tons. The unit has been through a summer with no issues and lower electric bills, also the house is now less humid. More is not better, it can cause real issues.

Home depot sent ARS to my house to sell me an A/C set up. They told me if we had any problem with the system they would put my family including myself in a hotel until the problem is fixed. Is this true?

After all the service calls we had we said that we were going to do lemon law and have them replace the units. Even when they replace the units we are still having trouble so we have them replaced the thermostat. Thank you for watching and we wish you the best of luck getting your HVAC working.

Thanks.. they gave us a new unit on Monday. Free of charge because their crappy install.. we had them come back out today because it was still not cooling and the unit was freezing. They are now going to come back out on Friday to replace the unit once more. And hopefully finish this whole ordeal. They are going to send us some window units tomorrow morning for the mean time..

Wow, thanks for the share, we thought we had issues getting a new unit in. We had another issue with a mechanic and our boat, he just quit working and is now out of business. We are just glad the AC issues got resolved.

So many HVAC horror stories. At the same time, so many people complain about competent technicians/companies charging what they're worth. I good HVAC technician is a plumber, electrician, metal fabricator, and controls technician. We wear many hats. On top of that, we have to understand how a home works as a living system. You want quality work, you need to pay for quality technicians. There was nothing inherently wrong with your Rheem. It was your installing contractor. They need to understand how to wire it properly and install it. That requires reading a manual.
@ChrisDoesWhat
@ChrisDoesWhat 5 лет назад
Thank you for watching! I agree there are good and bad techs out there, but most of the time when someone meets and HVAC repair tech, it is the middle of summer and their home is over 100 inside. Also paying for quality work, really hard to know if you have a good tech or bad one until the work is done. So many fluff their resume by fake reviews on their site or google, we know this cause we get asked to do fake reviews but never do them. We don't have an issue with Rheem, we had one in our last house the lasted over 12 years when we sold the home. After 9 service calls with the Rheem we had installed, we have to think the problem was with the system cause all the tech could not have been incompetent. Once they replaced it and choose to go with a Carrier, we have not had any more issues.
@christophershreiner5114
@christophershreiner5114 5 лет назад
@@ChrisDoesWhat you might be surprised at the number of incompetent technicians out there. Lol! Sadly, most of the good ones go on to commercial and industrial work because it pays better. You're right though, most don't get to pick out a tech when it's 100° outside. When it's time to replace the system it's good to have already done your homework and be ready with 20 questions for the sales person. Many people go with whoever's cheapest unfortunately. Not all techs are created equal, not all companies are good to work with. There's no reason a good tech shouldn't have been able to troubleshoot your system and fix it within the first two visits.
@ChrisDoesWhat
@ChrisDoesWhat 5 лет назад
@@christophershreiner5114 They should have been able to, we like to give the person the benefit of the doubt and say that something may have been inherently wrong with the system that was not easily seen. I worked as a computer tech, then engineer, followed by project management for over 20 years. I have seen plenty of things that seemed easy that turned into a real nightmare, like replacing a bad part with a brand new bad part, then getting another bad part after that. Thank you for watching, and we love the civil conversation. We also have checked out your RU-vid channel, love to talk with fellow creators, we wish you the best in all your endeavors.

@@ChrisDoesWhat I work for an HVAC company and we dont touch plumbing. We would never put a customer through this because we would have installed it correctly the first time, the previous tech for you jumped out the heat from the unit because he couldn't figure out the low voltage wiring that's why your unit wouldn't shut off, just straight hacks
@ChrisDoesWhat
@ChrisDoesWhat 4 года назад
@@stevekaufmann8109 You are right, the low voltage wiring was the issue, and they did send a tech out that solved this issue after replacing the unit. The time they took to solve the issue was a problem and left us in a bad way during the colder parts of the year. I imagine you are a great HVAC tech, what I was saying is a company can hire a great tech like you and a great plumber, then offer both services.

Would say that their price is comparable with others, It is the service and the technical knowledge we had issue with. We did have the job bid by a few companies, ARS was on the low side for price, some companies wanted double for the same size and seer AC unit. Thanks for the watch.
