@@jaymeeification I’ve gotten a couple “burn” messages when I was making chili a couple times but I was able to finish cooking it after stopping, quick release, stir and restart. Other than that, no.
We got our duo evo + pot a short time ago and began to seek youtube help in learning how to use it. After watching several vids and still uncertain as to how we can use the pot (too many unanswered questions) we found your video and I must say you did an outstanding job of explaining the pot from start to finish. Many THANKS Jeff!!
One thing that’s nice about all the different settings, like the different rice varieties, is that you can adjust the default time for each one and it will remember that setting next time. So if you have a time for brown rice that’s different than the Instant Pot out of box setting, once you adjust it you won’t have to adjust it again. That makes the presets on this machine more useful because you can use your preferred times.
Thanks for showing me how to adjust the temperature level. I have had this Instant Pot for a little bit over a month, and it's frustrating not knowing how to reduce the heat level from high to medium. No more, thanks to you, I just learned how. Thanks a million!
Thank you for a great review. I went out to Bed Bath and Beyond today and bought this beautiful Pot. I used a 20 % coupon also. The first thing I fixed was Extra meaty port ribs for Albertsons. Used the Pressure Cooker function. OMG, they were awesome.
Thank you for this amazing video. I just received one for Christmas and was totally confused by the "manual"!!! It was not helpful, to say the least. You have made it so easy to understand and I can't wait to wow my family with some good food. After years of using the old fashioned pressure cooker with not settings and praying the thing didn't explode, this is a dream come true.WOW!!!
I'm losing my mind over this instant pot and even more so about how enthusiastic you are about this! I found your vid while searching for a good instant pot for college and I think I've made my choice thanks to you! Thank you so much!
I've been researching all night, but your video sold me on buying this model. Thank you so much for your in depth review and actually showing how to actually use the pot, + UI.
Santa brought me a Duo Evo Plus with EVERY ACCESSORY KNOWN TO MAN! Love your review. I've watched dozens of youtube vlogs to get comfy with the whole pressure cooking thing.
I found this on clearance after Christmas sale at Meijer $69.99. I bought one for myself and for my mother. I absolutely love using my new instapot, it's so nice and easy.
I just received this IP model and then your email came today which was perfect timing. The tutorial was great! Thank you so much. I love you almost as much as my instant pots. Can’t wait wait for your cookbook! Keep on cookin.
I love my Instant Pot. Last week I made a double batch of soup for a large group of people. I made one batch in my Instant Pot and it was good soup. The other batch I made simultaneous using my Fagor Duo stovetop pressure cooker. It was just as good. The stovetop cooker doesn’t have any bells and whistles, obviously, but it cooks just as well.
Well done, I just purchased my Duo Evo Plus yesterday. Your video makes it so much clearer than the manual. Thanks so much. I'm a novice and now i'm ready to go. Thanks for your clear concise and detailed explanation. K
THANK YOU for this review! I had just bought my first IP and had been using it for a few weeks. I was not really happy with the bottom of the pan - it didn't seem flat to me and I kept getting 'burn' indicators (I'm not a novice to pressure cooking although using an *electric* model is new to me). I was still in my return window so today I sent it back and picked up this model. I will start using it and see how this one goes, but it looks promising. I think I will try browning on my stovetop. Also, that removable grate is for you to put ice in to have another way of doing a QR, one that is maybe a little less hard on the food (a steam-release QR can cause beans to lose their skins for example). I'll check it out. Thanks again!
Karen Shaffer I had the same problem but then realized that the bottom of the pot always needs a minimum of some type of liquid to keep from burning once set to pressure cook. Sautéing doesn’t require the minimum water level, but cooking does. This helped me a lot.
Thanks for your extremely helpful video. Just got our Duo Evo Plus with the plan that I would be able to start pulling my weight when it comes to meal planning and cooking. After finding a recipe to try and prepping the ingredients, I realized my new and just out of the box Instant Pot was not so completely intuitive as I thought (and maybe just a bit intimidating). Certainly, it is easy to use, but I found your walkthrough of the basics to be what I needed to get started. Dinner was a success. Great video! Well done.
Question.....What do you use your 3 Qt for? I was thinking about one but then I thought being you really can't fill it all the way up how versatile would be.
Mike F I’ve actually made some of Jeffrey’s recipes. Just tweek the portion to suit you. I make all my veggies, soups, etc. pretty much every meal but smaller portion.
I've watched several videos about this particular Digital Pressure Cooker / Multi-Cooker, and this has been the best review of the interface and features. Thank you!
Thank you for such an informative and easy to understand video on how to use the Duo Evo Plus. This is my very first instant pot and I am ready to go. Again, thanks for posting!
This really looks amazing. I only have the ultra, but it seems like the main difference between all the different models is the interface. This one solves so many of the real design problems: mainly the inner pot, the venting, and the lid stand. And they’ve even perfected the interface. Can’t wait to get one!
Thank you for this great review! I just received an Instant Pot Duo Evo Plus for Christmas and was a little intimidated by all the features and functions, that is, before I watched your very helpful review (tutorial).
I just got this for Christmas and started looking up recipes and it seems like everyone has a different model on these recipe videos and so I directly looked up this model and your video came up and now I feel like I got the best model possible!! Thank you
Wow! Yes! What a wonderful review! Your knowledge and energy are perfect. Got my Duo Evo Plus today and you have made me feel competent and comfortable to use this bad boy!
The custom temperature also goes low enough to make small batches of cheese in the yogurt function. makes it nice when you need to keep an even temp for long periods of time :)
Jeffrey, I didn’t go through the 484 comments, but in case this hasn’t been mentioned! That plastic lid comes off so that you can put a QuickCool Tray accessory (sold separately) that you fill with ice. It helps reduce the natural pressure release time up to 50% faster.
Agree💯%! My previous one went out and I was shopping online. When I saw the handles and the bigger canted screen, I was sold. I made your Best Ever pot Roast Christmas morning. One hour and a 3.0 lb roast was falling about. Loved the foil wrapped vegetables, and the au jus gravy. I’ve mastered risottos now. I’ve made butternut squash risotto with one spoon of peanut butter which I learned from Thai friends, gives the butternut squash another level of delicious. My next project is honey mustard pork tenderloins. Glad you reviewed this. It’s simply the best!
One of the things I'm happy about is that (from what I understand) since the bottom of the pot it flat, when I saute my oil will cover the entire bottom and not flow down to the sides. Yay!
This is my first Instant Pot which I purchased based on your review and love it. It seems that all the reviews miss that this IP has 1200 watts of power versus the older models' 1000 watts.
Just bought my first Instant Pot, which is the Duo Evo. Thank you for the easy to understand instructions. Their videos on the Instant Pot website weren’t very easy to follow. Great job!
I just got this model yesterday and so glad I found you. This video reassured me I made the right decision (confusing to an IP virgin with so many models to choose from!) and got me excited about opening the box and COOKING! Will be following you and trying your recipes. Your pot roast will be my first; looks sooo good! I love how concise and fun you are. Thanks so much!!!
I just ordered my Duo Evo Plus today - can't wait for it to arrive from Amazon in a couple of days. My first recipe is going to be your meatballs and spaghetti. I love all your videos and recipes. This new IP is an upgrade from my Duo that is a few years old and well used and loved.
I have it and I really like it. It is just missing a Teflon version (I have an extra inner pan but it's also stainless) and a sealing lid to put it in the fridge/freezer. I love to use it on my induction stove when I need browning or if I want to fry something quickly before putting it in the machine, as the instant pot takes a considerable time to heat in comparison with induction cooking. I use the sous vide cycle more than anything, unless if I am in a rush. Even to make things like rice it's great to set it to 95 Celsius and let it go for an hour or so. Nothing gets burned or overcooked this way and you can also mix some cauliflower rice if you want less calories etc. I am really happy with it.
Thank you for your review. I was thinking about either the evo or the max. Your comment on the touch screen sold me on the evo. So glad because I love it. Thanks again and keep up the great work.
I ordered the evo yesterday. I've been wanting an instant pot for a long time, but I finally decided to get one lol. Also, just ordered your book on Amazon just now! Love your video! It was very informative!
Thanks for this. I got this model for Christmas, it's my first one. I didn't know about the cap for the steam release. I just looked in the box and there it was! This video was so helpful.
I did the research and I just ordered a Duo Evo Plus, then , I find your video and I have to tell you, great video , very informative thank you. The other models have lot of features too but the handles on the pot sealed the deal for me
Just bought the exact Instant Pot you reviewed! I don’t read manuals, unlike my wife, it will be hilarious to use it out of the box. Awesome and clear review! TY!
Thank you for this great review. I am dutch en there is an english user manual in the box, but no Dutch. It's complicated for me. But you helped me in a fantastic way and convinced me to buy this great Instant Pot the Duo Evo Plus. I am happy! :-)
3:12 "...even though it's not going to be a true sous vide experience because you really need the water to circulate for that to happen...". Actually, since it heats from the bottom, you don't need a pump because the convection will do. The Sous Vide Supreme uses that same method. Whether the temperature is going to be precise enough is another matter. Looking forward to that being tested. Great review though, thanks!
Hi Jeffrey! Love your videos! So helpful. I just ordered 2 copies of your cookbook, 1 for my daughter who struggles learning how to use her instapot. Be safe and keep on bringing us great content!!😊
Great job Jeffrey! I'm looking forward to more new recipes in the updated unit. I was glad to hear that it will be available in an 8 qt size since I was thinking of getting one to compliment my 6 qt, which I use all the time. Time to add that to my Christmas list! And I love you and your channel too! Keep putting out the great content!
I never used a pressure cooker-let alone a 'fancy' electronic one. I just bought this model based on your convincing review along with American Kitchen's one which reverberated the same thing. I am so excited while I await delivery in two weeks. I hope I can cook good food with this and not blow up the house with it! XD
My first instant pot is the Duo Evo!! I love it!!!!! I can't comment on the others? Because like I've said the Duo Evo is my first purchase. I'm looking today to make pork steaks 😋 in it!!! Great video!!!!
Alright, you won me over. I was initially thinking "man this is overly wordy", and yet the further I got into the video the more I wanted all of those words. Thank you so much for all the tips, I learned so many excellent tricks!
I just bought myself a new IP duo (while giving away my old one), why didn't I wait to watch this video and bought myself one of these. That looks nice!
I bought the QVC Duo Plus with sous vide, when it was Today's Special Value early in Sept. I got an extra $10 off for 1st time buyer. So at least I didn't overpay, haha!
Great video! I purchased the 8 qt model. This is our first IP. Love all the new features they incorporated. I know i'm being a little pickey but I wish the selector knob was textured as it is slippery when grabbing it and trying to turn to make adjustments. Other than that it is perfect in every other way.
Thank you so much Jeffrey. I really appreciate this review and all of your recipes. I just put in an order for 8qt evo duo plus. I’m upgrading from 6qt duo. Can’t wait for my new toy to come in.
Thanks for pointing out how the duo evo compares to other instant pot models. I don't have any of them, but have always wondered how they compare. Now I know! And I'm off to purchase the duo evo.
Thanks for this great review! ... We are currently owning the DUO PLUS but the switch did break off... so I'm planning to buy the EVO plus. I always used a "steam release angle" with my Duo Plus to prevent my walls from the steam and redirect it directly into the kitchen hood. Could you please take the measurements of the nozzle for me, so that I can check if my "angle" will work? Many thanks in advance and nice greatings from Austria!
At first I would rather the cord came off so I could store it inside the pot. But then I noticed the hook on the back at the base. If you wrap the cord once around the front of the pot, no twists, above the control knob on the front, the plug will just make it to this hook and hold the cord. I've seen no mention of this in the manual.
I had the duo sv, and my hubby dropped it, and it broke 😥 I've been waiting for a replacement as it was covered under warranty. However as it's still out of stock, so I just got upgraded to a duo evo plus free of charge!! I'm a happy girl 🤩
Thank you so much this was very informative ! I was lost trying to use this for the first time . Your instruction and info was perfect ! Can’t wait for my carnitas to be done !!!!
I just bought this on to replace a model that I bought from QVC years ago, It was a cook’s essential brand... I don’t think Insta-pot were out or if they were not as popular as they are now. While mine still works I thought I would give it try and the feature that the inner pot doesn’t spin is what sold me ( so sad lol) . I just hit place order on WS website, the 6qt is on sale for $119! I should have it to soon so I can enjoy all of my quarantine cooking! Stay well everyone !
It took me over a year before I tried using my 3 Qt. Instant Pot and I boiled eggs to begin with and still do at times when I want to make salads or just do plain boiled eggs to eat. The last thing I cooked in mine was barbeque pork ribs which turned out fine after broiling them to finish cooking them.
Great video, thanks. Just purchased a 6 Qt Evo. First time IP owner but before I use it it's going back and I decided to wait and get the 8 Qt version when it comes out the end of October. We make a lot of soups and chile recipes in our 7+ Qt Le Cruset and being you can not fill a pressure cooker up as much as a stove top pot we decided that the 8 Qt would be a better choice. Subscribed!
Thanks for the review. I just bought my first Instant Pot, and this is the model I chose. It arrived a few hours ago. I'm in the last minute of making your Blue Ribbon chili. :-) The warmup and release times were longer than expected. But I can understand why that part is edited down a bit in most videos.
After watching your video - I’m new - just subscribed can WAIT to try your recipes - Just ordered my this model because of you1 Thankyou! Going to follow you - your directly are great!
Amazing tutorial it can't get any easier for people to get the Instant Pot working properly. The handels on the liner pot and the improved steel bottom are incredible for taking it to friends over for a warm up. With the power cable not popping out any more Instant Pot made them self a huge favor. Ones you got your book done I want to see you in action with the new Dual Evo Pot cooking your so phenomenal delicious meals!
Great review. Received it from one of my daughters as a birthday gift. This video is extremely helpful. Caribbean Chicken for dinner tomorrow, making it today!
Very nice 👌 Good job on the inner/liner pot improvements. Other features are also nice. I have the Instant Pot brand and have been very pleased with it. I'd say Jeffrey's videos were the reasons I decided to buy one. Wow though the presets are very cool. Less scary for novice.
Got this pot today and all of my extra insert pots are unusable, 3 extra pots total. They fit fine but you get a C8 error about a minute after pressure cooking starts. According to Instant Pot support you have to buy the same pot with the handles as a replacement which is not available as of yet. So as pretty as this is, it's going back. I depend on multiple inserts to get dinners ready for my family. And I adore my nonstick insert too much so going to get an Ultra instead! Edited: contacted IP support and they have NO plans to sell replacement pots like these with the handles for this version... This is their most expensive model too! Be aware!
Interesting that IP won't offer Evo Plus liners. Fwiw, I am running 6 and 8qt Ultra bases with Duo60 and Duo80 lids, & this works just fine. Got the Ultra bases on eBay from almost.perfect.store. Read descriptions and examine pics. Some of their stuff is damaged. But I got the most affordable Ultra upgrades ever, haha, with no damage.
The Custom Sauté number LE6 is more like an electric wok Sear setting. Good for giving meat a crust at 1minute per side. I find the LE 3 or LE4 much better for sauté and developing a nice fond. Just my 2 cents.
Duo Evo Plus inner pot + portable induction = supreme joy + warp speed. Induction brings the pot to temperature nearly instantly. For any task with volume like soup its the place to start. No more long waiting for IP to come to pressure from cold. I'd rather saute on the induction as well. This saves wear on the IP heating element while keeping IP clean. Gotta love Evo's flat bottom with handles. For steaming no need for the IP. Its pal is a NuWave 1800 max with +- 5 degree control.
