I work at Acadmey Distribution Center Sports and Outdoors in Katy Texas. Thankfully, my job had a raffle and I won a 20x 48x Intex Pool! I’m going to use it now after watching this video. The Texas heat is killing me and I believe this pool will help me relax 🙏🏼😎
THANK YOU so much for these pool videos!!!! We don't have this pool but we have an Intex 16x48 and last year we had so many issues because when we were setting up and filling we ended up getting 10in of rain in 12 hours... UGH! So the whole summer the pool sat crooked and we didn't want to start all over. For this year we are trying to figure out the best way to level and stabilize the legs just in case it happens again. Your set up video has given me so many ideas that are way more cost efficient!!!! THANK YOU!!!!
Watched the build and was disappointed not seeing it full, but found this one so am a happy camper. We had a 48x15’ years ago and loved it, but Chicago weather meant fewer months usage and annual set up. Agree with you on the ladder. We kept meaning to upgrade to the cake tier type but after about 6 years, ended up giving it away since in-laws lived in community with huge inground community pool very close. Thanks for sharing
We might be getting this installed tomorrow so we are really excited! Especially me and my brothers but mostly me. Due to covid, last summer was very boring so this will be a huge impact. Thank you. Love from Louisiana! 🦞🦐🦀
Great video,i have the older intex ultra frame 18 x 52 ,this is my sixth year with this pool the frame is still in excellent condition but the liner has at least 8 to 10 patches but still in decent shape. My pool came with a cartridge filter but upgraded to the intex 3000 GPH sand filter and after two years of the intex skimmer the same as the one your using i decided to upgrade the skimmer to a Hayward above ground pool skimmer, this skimmer mounts on the outside of the pool then cut a hole in the liner so the water can come into the skimmer, this skimmer is far superior to the intex skimmer.it's good that the pool now comes with a sand filter but to be honest it is still quite small, you said the HP of the pump is .23 this is 1/4 horse power my intex sand filter is almost 1 HP with the 16 inch canister at 3000 GPH,with my set up i do very little cleaning, just empty the leaf basket vacuum once a week,Again great video
Great job man. Its nothing better than a pool in your backyard. We have a metal frame 20 years ago and never look back ,it was great for our family in the summer months. Today I see this kind of pool more often and it looks great. Maintaining the pool is easy 12 hours running the pump and once a week the algecide and chlorine bar. And the pool is clear al the time. And if you have hard water just ad clarifier for the pool. Have lots of fun and good luck.
@@saf5800 I've seen a few. Maybe you just live in a area with expensive houses but I have seen plenty houses for 2k and a few for 1k. Tiny houses and condos.
The cap that you took off for aeration is part of the The Hydro Aeration Technology. This technology allows the pump to mix air with water, which induces the oxidation of iron and manganese within the pool water. This process helps water to stay crystal-clear. In addition to that, the concentration of negative ions on the surface of the water is increased by the aeration technology. It further ensures you clean and environment-friendly water for the pool.
great video. I also ordered the same pool. will be delivered tomorrow! what I noticed is. in america there are 2 outlet openings at the pool. I think that's great. Here in Germany, INTEX pools are only offered with one inlet opening and one outlet opening.
thx for posting man. just bought the same kit. had an easy-set, but kids tore it cleaning it i think. intex pools really are a great value. make a great starter pool.
biggest pool I hope it's as big as for 20 people cuz if it isn't I'm not going to buy it and I'm not going to invite anyone to my house so they could get in the pool so we can swim
Thanks for the video. I am new to this above ground pool stuff, so....I am watching as many videos as I can in order to do this right.....good tips about leveling your yard broheim…. Thanks!!
@@mygooniedanny I like the pool because it is big, the pump runs 6-7 hours a day and is sufficient, I have the pool from a hardware store (but I live in Europe)
Greetings from the UK - Nice pool! this the best view of the XTR Ultra Frame pool. I have the 15' x 42" Prism Frame pool, due to this being the best depth for my 6 year old. Like you said the pump that comes with the Prism frame pools are the absolute minimum. I have the same 1200 g/hr pump you have, with saltwater system and it's amazing. The XTR pools seem expensive but they are amazing value. FYI, I have the Auto Cleaner too, and it's awsome.
I bought a Summer Wave pool 16' X 48' Similar construction and it came with an integrated skimmer. Which I love since it picks up all surface debris. 8/5/21 update: best $250 ever invested on a pool. Shortly after buying the pool, invested on an Intex 2800 gph sand filtration pump for $300. More than a year and a half later my kids and family is still enjoying the pool.
I really luv the size of your gardens we have the small one 10ft would luv the big one like your info we have a natural filling system called rain 😂😂😂. Thanx from Barnsley yorkshire
I have same pump. I run it 24-7 with no problems or issues at all. Did for the hottest times of summer. No issues which so ever. 2nd year of this sand pump.
I have the same pool, took 5 tons of sand to level the ground out. Got pool set up and maybe 2 days later found a pin hole in it, the patches that come with this pool does not stick ,so I had to buy flex seal in a tube { it's white} ,but oh well. I love my pool ,glad I got it. My son Inlaw will build me a deck and yes I will get a better ladder too.
My wife just ordered this same pool yesterday (figured if we're in lockdown all summer we'll need something for the kid to do!). I'm not super excited about all the work it's going to take in order to get the desired final result, but I know it's absolutely necessary. Unfortunately our back yard has zero flat spots in it, it's all on a bit of a slope, so that'll be fun. I'm thinking if I sort of start on it now I can break it up over a week or two and maybe it won't seem so bad. I saw another video on setting these up where they used a laster level to get all the legs exactly the same height.
Laser level would be great to use. Also, consider renting a tiller to break up and loosen the top soil to make it easier to move. Pull from high spots into low spots. Then rent a Compactor to get it nice and flat.
@@axelruntschke Good tips, thanks! I also had mentioned to my wife how cheapish the ladder that comes with it looks and that I'd likely be building something to replace it...had to chuckle when you mentioned it:) Sigh...I had already planned on building a shed over the summer, so between that and this pool looks like I'll be pretty busy!
Great video. Very helpful. As far as your lessons learned part, have you considered making a straight cut in the ground cover at each leg so you can pull it out passed the legs like it supposed to be and then just I don’t know duct tape the cut and duct tape around the legs to create a seal?
I like the idea of upgrading to a sand filter... I'll do that for my next pool....but NO SALT WATER SYSTEM if you don't want RUST... steel frame and salt = rust.
Thanks a bunch for this one. I’ve been wanting a pool for the family and I’m just not ready to spend $3000 for a steel side. But this size is perfect and this doesn’t look cheap/Walmart like some do. This one is at the top of my list now. 😎
Great video and you are right the other hard wall pools are more expensive but they are worth the money. They will last for 15 to 20 years. I started out with a 16x48 Summer Wave. Kept it for 2 summers and then bought a 24ftx52in Eclipse. We hope to build a deck around it next spring. A deck around the pool will make it so much easier for me to vacuum without being in the car since I am only 4' 10" tall. Well it is time to close the pool so I hope you have had a great summer with your pool. God bless you
Hey, this is a great explanation of all the features of this heavy duty Intex pool, very well done. Do you think one like this could be installed partly in the ground, slightly backfilled and a deck built above the ground, curved around it? Just curious 😊
Initially, I thought that could be feasible, but after more research, I simply cannot recommend setting this pool below grade. There simply isn't enough structural integrity. The deck will be fine, obviously.
LOOKS GREAT! We’ve had the Intex 15’x48” prism frame with sand salt filter system! The metal frame ALWAYS rusts, even tho I paint the inside and out with rustolium spray paint! Issue is after you get it up and put the poles together ... kids swim and rock the frame, the paint chips off and RUST! Ugh. Is this the case for this new metal frame? And just for all you ANTI SALTWATER... the metal will still rust even with chlorine if the coating chips off! I did chlorine the VERY FIRST YEAR, and NEVER will I go back. Saltwater is the best for too many reasons to list!
Would you please tell us about prepping the ground. How much time daily/weekly does it take to maintain it, under normal circumstances? I'd live to hear about the chemicals too. Lastly,, can you please let us know what brand ladder you end up going with? Thanks very much! 🙂
What kind of skimmer do you use? And how do you vacuum the bottom of your pool? I love my new pool but I didn't get any instructions on how the cleaning ...
Nice video. Good information also in your other videos. As to the price. Here in The Netherlands the standard price is 639 euro. But with Corona not a single pool is available virtually anywhere in my country. I found this one with the sandfilter, the stairs etc etc for 999 euro. Due to Coid-19 we are not allowed to go to southern Europe or even to go to our own coast. And so people buy pools as an alternative. So there is no stock. Also the summers nowadays get so hot you really want to cool off (41 C in the countryside just 2 km form my town last year, 38 C the year before!)...I am sure these pools will be a very popular item for weeks to come.
Off course u can go to swimming nordsee.... also to many great water canal all around holand beautiful clean water..... also Nesselande lake or much different lake are top for swimming..... holand beautiful is great...
Great review, here in Poland it comes with sand pump serial no 26646,is it the same as yours?you wanted to upgrade, why?looking forward to your reply, thx
First off, GREAT VIDEO!!!! I have seen all you pool videos. Does the liner have too much stress on the bottom of the seam by putting it on a ~2inch wood you installed? It makes the pool higher and by 2 inches an the seam is elevated vs flat and I think it could cause stress and eventual leak??? I’m asking since I’m doing exactly the same setup and putting a 2” paver but concerned the elevated seam may eventually leak due to pressure. Have you had any issues with leaks or that part of your pool?
The boards are more or less even with the ground, so no extra stress involved. I'll also add that Intex did a great job with this liner. 50% stronger than their previous model.
Florida Outlander Yes, i could not find one for a while . I added my name in different availability list with no luck. My wife and I had an eye on all sale locations everyday and constantly until we found one in Facebook market place. It was brand new but they wanted $1100. After a lot of back and forth decided to purchase it. I was looking for one due to CV and not wanting to use our community pool. Finding one for this summer was important. It was way above market value but I figured I might not have many options if I passed on it.
Thanks for the video, great information that help me to get this exact model from Intex, it is worth the extra money. I used concrete pavers for the legs, they are 1 3/4 “ On your setup are the wood blocks at the floor level or you had to dig? I am wondering if that extra 1 3/4” can create any issue to the liner. Have you noticed any damaged on your pool? Thanks again for your very informative video.
Most are level with the ground, and a few are a little taller to the top of frame is level. No damage to the liner at all. But with concrete pads, I'd make sure to keep them level with the ground since they have pretty sharp edges.
Florida Outlander The pavers are above the ground, what I had to do is to place some foaming pads between the pavers and the liner, I am more worried about that extra 1 3/4” stretch on the liner, not sure if it may damage the liner in the long run.
Great video, we've been wanting to get an OTG pool for the past 2 years but are hesitant when we read reviews of leaks and poor pumps, etc. We ordered an Intex basic frame pool but our ordered was cancelled as the box apparently was damaged when they attempted to ship it. We are looking at the XTR Ultra frame pool now for the better quality it offers along with the 2 year warranty. Our backyard looks pretty leveled with a very slight slope downhill that is hardly visible. Our concern is, it it super crucial that the land be 100% leveled. Will it cause some sort of damage to the pool in any way? Thanks
Thanks for watching, Maya! Yes, it's absolutely critical for the ground to be perfectly level. You're putting more than 60,000 pounds of water in that pool, and it's ALWAYS going to go to the lowest point. Great question, Maya, thank you!
It's very important that you take your time leveling out the ground. I thought my pool was leveled enough but once you get in and start splashing around, the pool will shift. But you live and you learn and hopefully next year, I'll be more prepared (first time pool owner btw). Have a great summer!
Thank u for sharing great info!! Really helpful. Approx. How much should i expect the water bill to be after I'm done filling it up? I'm buying the same size?
Hi. Quick question that I’m hoping you might be able to help me with. There was a little bright blue bag looking accessory and I was wondering if you knew what it was for. We were guessing that maybe it was a pump cover of some sort.
Did you end up upgrading the sand filter if so what size did you end up going with 14” or 16” ? Great video good detailed review and good video quality.
How many legs does this have? Trying to figure out how many pavers I need to put under the legs. Also, what material would be best for this? I’ve heard some materials split but this seems to be working for you?
My parents just purchased the same exact pool, should be here soon. Can you swim in the pool while the pump is on. What sand filter media did you use? Great video 👍
Hey how far did you post expand out once full of water want to put flat blocks under each of my post so they won't sink into the ground but I don't want them to lose to puncture a whole in wall.
We are about to start leveling the area for this. There is a little slope but not bad. I was told by a landscaping professional that it would be easier to put dirt on top of the grass and then simply compact it to level it out. I your experience, is this a good route vs removing the SOD?
I don't know what type of grass you have but intrusive grasses like St. Augustine & Bermuda grasses "Will" grow through your liner... The manufacturer also recommends not to use sand, since it can easily wash out.. specially if is used on top of ground (above grade). We have been several days working the area. We decided to go 2' beyond the boundaries of the pool, to install edging to keep any grass or weed away from the pool sides and then fill that area with mulch al the way around. We've already ripped the grass out which happens to be St. Augustine grass, installed the edging and now we're leveling the ground. With the assistance of a self made water level, it makes it exact. We plan to install 12" concrete pavers at final grade as well for the 16 vertical support beams. Once the pavers are installed and leveled we will be spraying Round-Up, install a weed barrier and a general purpose vinyl tarp covering the entire area just to make sure nothing grows. We're hoping this unit last us at least 2 years.
Thanks for the detailed review. We just got our 20x48 xtr pool delivered today. Not going to bother putting it up until next spring. Anyways, with all the research I have done I was thinking about going straight to the 16in pump. If you decide to upgrade to a 14in or 16in that would be a great video. When you call Intex it's a long hold time. The thing I wonder about is what adapters I need to go from the pump that comes with it to a 16in. Have a good one
I think I'll just buy the 16" and start out with that. Keep the one that comes with it as a back-up. Seeing the 16" in other videos you can really tell a difference in the filtration. Thanks for the reply
Bought this for our son for his 14th birthday, waiting for it to be delivered. Doesnt look to hard to setup. How are the pavers under the legs holding up? They staying in place?
Hey, was the Split Valve for the two hoses from pool to filterpump really included? my ultra xtr just arrived and there are just two hoses, one for the inlet, one for the outlet.
@@axelruntschke I have the 18x52 pool, just like you. I heard that in the usa they ship it with two pool outlets because there was an incident.. i dont know if this is true. I live in germany and it seems like that i dont have the second outlet. Does it matter if there is one or two? I wonder if its a big disadvantage. I mean Skimmer + normal outlet would be better, right?
One question. I have levelled the ground etc. But if I put 4,7 cm thick paves (concrete tiles) on top of the tarp...aren't the legs lifted too high? Or is this not a problem?
@@axelruntschke Thx! I did but where the sand (for levelling) is deeper I did raise them a little. A cm or so. I figured they might sink in a bit and if not 1 cm (= less than 0,5") off the mark is not a problem. The thing is 90% filled and yes it is still 1 cm off. I am happy with that. The sun is shining 17 hours a day here and it is really shining all day long so it can do its thing...Watertemp is 15 C now ( 60 F). We'll see how fast it will rise.
Chlorine and Shock, mostly. Sometimes I add an algaecide. Check to see if there's a dedicated pool store in your city. Take them a water sample and they'll tell you exactly what you need.
I don't. But surprisingly, it never got uncomfortably warm, even during our hot Florida summer. Thankfully there are some trees that offer a bit of shade.
Im purchasing this pool . I have a circle in my back yard that the previous owners had a pool on. Its even ground except patchy grass areas. Any advice or input on that? Can we just mow grass down or should i dig it up?
I recommend using a flat shovel to remove any patches of grass or other vegetation. Be sure to then rake the area to remove any sticks, twigs, acorns etc.
if INTEX would just give us the platform for the top of the ladder that would be nice... but I think they've had problems with the plastic breaking when people were too hard on it and there were threats of lawsuits... I do think that may be why it's not included... for a while they even stopped selling the platform.
@@axelruntschke Thank you for the quick response. The wife and I are in central Florida and debating on getting one. is this the original pump still or did you upgrade?
