Review: Kvetun Sidesword No. 2 

Well, one the one hand I am glad it is not just me, on the other hand it is a bit of a shame it is not just me. Still, as you say, otherwise it is a good sword, especially for the beginners, as it is on the lighter side, maneuverable and can be found for a good price usually. - Peter

It always depends on how you fence, they are lighter gloves will protect less than other gloves in that area, but I have used them for this purpose in the past and also use them for later sabre fencing regularly. If you account for the fact that they protect less in your fencing, I see no issue with using them for rapier myself. - Peter

Probably a matter of taste and/or exposure. The SS#1 is definitely the sword that is more forgiving in its handling. The POB is closer to the hand it is lighter and also shorter than the SS#2. That overall makes for a sword that is easier to switch directions with and that can feel nimbler. On the other hand the SS#2 has more reach and more presence, which makes it easier to work with in the bind. It is really noticeable when you use the two against one another. The higher weight and further out POB means you have to commit more to your actions with the SS#2 and use the POB when switching directions. If you work against the blade, not with it, I can understand that it feels sluggish in comparison. It is something I had to get used to too, but by now, I actually prefer it in my swords a lot of times (but not always). - Peter
