I get the Bubblevicious parallels but honestly I see this as a much worse version of "Not So Awesome Blossom." At least in that episode we see evidence WITHIN THE EPISODE as to why Blossom develops her feelings of inadequacy, instead of it just being handwaved to us.
Just watch Bubblevicious again. Save yourself the agony. Plus, that picture makes me sad because that was what I'd hoped the reboot would have looked like based on the intro.
So it's Bubblevicious (and City of Clipsville) but a lot worse and missed the point on why that episode worked? Why am I not surprised from this reboot?
@@23567678 The only bad episodes are Catastrophe and Equal Fights. I love Equal Fights Message but the show should focus more on laughs than preaching.
@@icecreamhero2375 Another good comparison, but it feels more like the writers wanted to do Bubblevicious but turned it into a lazy clipshow instead. At least Blossom's similar problem in the original was *SHOWN* to the audience rather than here, where it's just saying one sentence on how the character felt.
@@icecreamhero2375 Personally, I didn't mind both those episodes. To me, the worst OG episodes would probably be both the sunburned episode and the one where the girls are forced to not used their powers again. One's very cringe-inducing for 11 minutes, while the other is 4 seasons too late and really dumb. Both post-movie episodes, funny enough.
Yes, I totally hate that too. Like, no, no, you don't get to reference something that a) you deliberately ripped off and b) announced that you can write *better than*
I legitimately like that artstyle a lot better, it's still the classic art but with a modern touch up. Why didn't they use that for the reboot instead of whatever the fuck we got here.
@@fodv93 i thought ppg 2016 was all bad but now its so mixed, there are really bad episodes but a few good ones too. tho i think overall the series is majorly outweighed by the bad
Having an episode about Bubbles feeling useless is kinda silly, specially in the reboot where they made her the computer genius of the blog so she would have yet another thing to do for the team, if anything, she's less useless than before. They could have made her just doubt herself, feeling like she's not enough despite clearly being useful, it seems weird but it happens.
@@SuperCosmicMutantSquid nope, we have seen in. PPG2016 did this before. They just refuse to because BS. It is sad because, like you stated, this is also effecting CN as a whole.
Oh yeah, the title is correct in some way. It's a PAIN in something that's for sure. This is, I don't even know what this is. This is a new low. We went from great episodes like Home Sweet Sickness to this. Forget 15 minutes of Fame, this is my new least favorite episode of season 2. The only thing that I liked was the ending and the reference to the original show, but there isn't any redeeming of this episode. Overall Rating: 3.5/10
That photo of Blossom fight Abracadabra makes me feel a little sad. They actually made that OG design of look Mondern, yet they chose not to that do for the whole reboot series. It's proof it could be done.
3:30. How should I conjugate this? Don’t lick tentacles, in an animation! Between that and Jarfuck Faeshapiro, I just don’t know what to think anymore.
Its accurate ironic this episode since the original powerpuff episode: where Bubbles stops orange gozilla monster by ask him nicely to leave. Also this reboot she manages stop Amoeba boys with her programming skills
This shit reboot doesn't deserve to dare utter the name of the original. They were better off being a hard reboot that was disconnected from the original canon, than this INSULT of a soft reboot that rides the tails of the original (and all because CN wanted a reason to sell PPG merchandise again)
Those stories could have been a good opportunity to show Bubbles doing something small and seemingly less significant as a way to make the ending pay off.
True but I don't personally like that episode it's really depressing kind of hard to talk about how great everyday heroes are when the protagonists and all the important characters are super important figures in their universe if anything the only way this could work with the Powerpuff Girls would it be if it had been used in z
@@themaskedgamer3336 I think the episode had a decent idea but it came out wrong. It would be better if Her family was in trouble and Bubbles had to save them by Herself. In a way only Bubbles can. They are captured by tigers who drank chemical X. And Bubbles had to talk to them and use her talents. If Newspapers weren't bashing her seriously it should have been all in her head.
icecream hero here’s how I’d write this. Took me a while to write this out just finished. The girls are in town battling a monster. The monsters tail breaks a water tank and Blossom swoops in to catch it. She realizes that it looks like a bowl shape so she tosses it at the other two telling them to wait with it on the side until she says. Using her ice breath to make a slippery surface that makes the monster slip. She signals to the girls that it’s time and they slam the water tank onto the monster killing it (if Gravity Falls could get away with it so could they). They fly home with Blossom boasting about how great her plan was. Buttercup says “yeah yeah...” in annoyance but Bubbles compliments Blossom in agreement. Jump cut to Blossom having a smug look on her face and then to Buttercup fuming. The girls hear a bunch of lasers going off when they arrive home and get pushed away by the professor. He’s in a panicked state and throws steel helmets at the girls yelling “protect your heads!!!” Blossom and Buttercup catch them but Bubbles doesn’t. She quickly tries to get it but it’s too late. She wakes up in bed and is confused about everything around and about her. The professor explains to the girls that he was working on an amnesia ray but something went wrong causing it to fire everywhere. Now Bubbles has memory loss forgetting everything about her life. Bubbles asks “what kinda name is Bubbles???” in a sassy tone. Blossom Buttercup and the professor then look at each other with worried expressions. Cut back to later when Blossom is trying to remind Bubbles of the things she loves including her favorite toys and her family. Whilst bragging a little bit about how “I’m more of your favorite sister. I don’t blame you.” Buttercup overhears and gets mad at Blossom. Later the girls are all in the training simulator from Bubblevicious as they try to retrain Bubbles. Bubbles tries to think of a plan but Blossom stops her saying how she’s the leader she makes all the plans. This causes them to lose. Later the girls get a call from the mayor about the gangrene gang causing a ruckus downtown and the girls fly into action. Bubbles in her state doesn’t know what to do. Blossom tells her to wait here she’s got this and flies off. Buttercup yells at her WE’VE got this and follows. Battle with the gang and the girls are flying home. Blossom saying “too easy I’ve dealt with worse”. Buttercup has had enough and pulls her to the side and calls her out for letting her ego slip out of her control. She understands Blossom wants to be confident but there’s a time and place for everything. Blossom apologizes and they both head home. They’re greeted by Bubbles who’s had the effects reversed and her memory is back. Blossom apologizes about bragging about herself while trying to jog Bubbles’ memory back. Bubbles doesn’t remember that happening but nonetheless forgives her sister. Group hug.
@@HackiePuffs Does Bubbles get her memory back by getting it in the head again? Or do they teach her who she truly is properly? To set everything normal again.
Here’s a list of Bubbles Achievements FROM THE ORIGINAL! 1.Taking on a laser beam at a high level and single handedly beating the crap out of Mojo 2.Melting a giant ant to save her sisters using her glasses to intensify her laser powers 3.Overcoming her fear of the Boogeyman and HER destroying the giant disco ball to bring back the sun and destroy all the monsters 4.Using her killing them with kindness method to politely tell the giant monster to leave AND HE DID! 5.Using the same method again by expressing her anger in a positive way by redrawing her monster chalk drawings that came to life as funny looking monsters AND Him by making him a butterfly and annoyingly him admitting defeat! So Ha!
3:04 Powerpuff Girls 2016, please stop reminding us about how good the original series used to be. It's not making you look better, it's only making you look worse, because it shows us how good you *could* have been but you're not.
I think if they wanted to have Bubbles as an underappreciated everyday hero, the best solution would be to have Blossom and Buttercup be the ones to learn the lesson. Maybe they temporarily lose their powers and while they wait for them to be back, Blossom and Buttercup are griping that they can’t be heroes (Bubbles has been out all day lately and hasn’t been home much for the past few days) but then when they go looking for Bubbles they run into all these people who have seen her today because she’s helped them in some way. Or better yet, this could work as a Morbucks episode! Princess is fed up with not being a Powerpuff girl but learns (with varying degrees of success) that there’s more than one way to be a hero. Just some ideas.
The Dali jokes are especially bad as an art student, and a fan of surrealist works. The writers are trying to use Dali’s surrealism as an excuse for “omg so randem XXXDD” humor. But surrealism isn’t random or goofy. There’s logic and meaning behind everything that’s done, it’s just presented in unnatural and odd ways. It’s certainly not the worst thing in the episode, but it’s a personal gripe of mine.
@@icecreamhero2375 Honestly, shows like Adventure Time, Regular Show, or Gumball make me laugh with their random moments. But PPG reboot doesn't do that and honestly seems like it's trying to copy those shows randomness. Very badly too.
@@alexthekiddo10 Regular Show season 1-4 is hilarious. I can't stand Romance Show don't get me started on that travesty, I hate all of Adventure Time. And Gumball is closer to what I described Gumball isn't random. It has lots of wit.
@@icecreamhero2375 Yeah your right about Gumball. I can see the wit in the jokes of that show. Howcome you hate Adventure Time? I didn't think it was too random but then again I haven't been keeping up with it.
This reboot is not getting any better?! WHY AREN'T THEY TRYING?! ARE THEY EVEN TRYING ANYMORE?! The sooner the reboot gets fired, dismissed, the better.
reportedly some episodes ARE enjoyable and even feature a good villain or two, but overall the show still isn't very good, still overuses the weird Regular Show,Spongebob and Excel Saga style and humour and REALLY misses the tone of the original series also they STILL refuse to use Ms Bellum despite bringing her up so much, STILL focus on the characters being jackasses for 'comedy' and still don't focus on the superhero stuff very often.
@@sarafontanini7051 The Proper humor of the Powerpuff Girls satire+ slapstick+ bad puns mixed with good puns+ clever dialogue. This show= All non sequitur. Also Spongebob has way better humor than this crap.
@@icecreamhero2375 yeah I know I was just trying to figure out what exactly what they were trying to emulate ecause I'm sure this style of humour is used SOMEWHERE (mainly the text filling the screen gag stuff)
It would have been better if instead we had flashbacks of Bubbles ignoring monsters in order to help townsfolk with their problems, thus validating her role as the everyday hero and giving them a reason to show up at her house and support her.
Actually kinda like this episode it shows them actually fighting crime. The Powerpuff Girls and the most fun when they actually act like the Powerpuff Girls.
This episode would have been better if it was a flashback episode of sorts that showed the Girls remembering each of their best individual moments. Blossom remembers the Rubber Bandit, Buttercup remembers the Ice Cream Monster and Bubbles could remember her own victory. The only purpose of this version of the episode would be to show off how badass the Girls are, but that's really all we want, right?
If they wanted to go along with this premise, they could have had Bubbles being the 'everyday hero' in the background of the flashbacks, showing how she did help people but wasn't appreciated for it as she didn't help in the 'kill the monster' sense.
Ya know, If they really wanted to give this episode a lesson they could have made it a “No matter what, You matter.” Kind of lesson. It would have been a lot more meaningful than this “Everyday Hero” garbage they gave it.
I thought of a total rewrite. The episode starts with a giant monster fight. The girls argue during it but the fighting is more subtle. Then the screen cuts to Him spying on them. Him then says Perhaps I can tear them apart. Then when they are too busy fighting they won't notice me enslave Townsville. Sisters are like cats and dogs after all. Then Him Makes Powerpuff Girls dresses out of creepy black magic. One Bubbles dress one Blossom dress and one Buttercup dress. When he wears a Blossom dress only Blossom can see and here Him and so on. Then Him Shrinks down and pretends to be a conscience on their shoulder. He first tricks Bubbles. Him: Bubbles your sisters think you are useless. You don't contribute much too the team. Bubbles: They said that 👿👿👿 Then Him goes away. Then Him puts on the Blossom dress and he stand on her scholder. Blossom: Your other sisters call you Bossy Blossom: THEY DO 👿👿👿. HIM: hey Buttercup Bubbles and Blossom say you are a total air head you rush into problems and don't think them through. Buttercup: THEY SAID WHAT then she snaps one of Bubbles dolls Then then their arguing is more brutal than Before then they are at each other's throats. They even ask the Professor if they can sleep in seperate rooms. Bubbles has a cardboard box, Blossom has the room and Buttercup has the grauge. Then Him makes copy's of himself with duplicate powder. He pulls it out the bag and throws it in the air and it becomes a tiny duplicate of Him and they all have tiny versions of everyone's out fits in Townsville. They then manipulate everyone in town and turn them against each other. They are now his little puppets. Then the PowerPuff Girls still have to fight crime but they want to fly solo. Then as they are fighting a giant monster they accidentally fall through the ground and land in Him's dimension. Then they find Him's dresses. They try them on and are invisable to one another. Then they notice everyone in town arguing. Then they realize Him is on everyone's shoulders. Then they have to throw paint on everyone in town. After they throw paint on people the PPGs see the Mini Hims and swat them like bugs. Then The beat the tar out of Him. Then they feel bad about arguing. And say sisters shouldn't fight they should love each other. It ends with them sleeping in the same bed. Then Mojo Jojo throws a waterballoon at them. Blossom: Way to ruin a touching moment. Mojo: It's what I do amazingly best.
The biggest problem with all of the villians in this show is that they never have motivation. In the original they always had motivation. They are just evil to be evil thats bad writting. When you write a character the fist thing you should do is make them think *What's in it for me* that's why Killmonger is an amazing villian.
@@theonefriendwhohasnolife Technically any motivation counts as good writting it doesn't even have to be big. Man1: Why did you blow up the restaurant Man 2: They made really bad coffee.
I actually kinda like this episode even though it is a rip-off of a Very Special Blossom. Blossom was sad that she could do anything right and she felt like she was a burden. It shows the PowerPuff Girls actually acting like the Powerpuff Girls. It had a good idea but it was poorly executed. Also it would have made much more sense if the Newspapers didn't bad-mouth Bubbles and this was more in her head.
8:41 Ice Cream Monster Really? what are they ripping off Codename: Kids Next Door? because in there first episode it dealt with the KND fighting an Ice Cream Monster plus it had the delightful Childern with the Ice Cream venders being the villains seriously can't they come up with original villains and Monsters WTF!!!
Ugh, this gives me Are You Happy Now flashbacks in that just like Memory Lane of Pain has to ignore canon to make us believe Bubbles is "useless", Are You Happy Now wanted us to believe Squidward NEVER had a happy memory by pretending episodes like Band Geeks didn't exist.
I assume they just had an idea for these two segments that they couldn't stretch into full episodes, so they forced them into an episode and only gave the most miniscule of shits about whether the framing device actually held up or not.
Here is my idea, she feel bad about herself because dumb script, takes a sad walk, then she help little people with little stuff that look coinsidental, and then you bring them at the end to show they like bubbles because her little help....
So... Did the creators not see the episodes of the original series where Bubbles- 1. Convinced a monster to stop rampaging through Townsville? 2. Started up a performance that saved Townsville from forever being dull and boring and without color? 3. DESTROYED A DEATH-STAR SIZED SATELLITE THAT BLOCKED THE SUN?!??!? Insignificant to the group, my rear-end!
3:24 At first glance, I mistakenly thought that the screenshot was taken from The Powerpuff Girls 10th Anniversary episode before it was pointed out that it was from the earlier seasons of the original.
DID THEY JUST TOSS OUT BUBBLEVICIOUS, THREE GIRLS AND A MONSTER, BUBBLEVISION, AND EVEN THEIR OWN REBOOT SHOW EXAMPLES LIKE THEY DON’T EXIST SO THEY CAN DO AN EPISODE... and other episodes I’m drawing a blank to... maybe Octi evil... also I don’t watch much of or at all of 2016 PPG, so I got no episode examples aside from viral spiral for it. anyway how’s life? :0
ya know what's SAD My Little Pony Friendship is Magic will be on it's Final Season and I'd wish this Shitty PPG ReBoot got cancelled and MLP would go on for one more Season
At this point I honstly didn't care rather this depressingly want to be It's own continuation or not cause keep In mind It still a REBOOT and NOT It's own continuation. It's already bad enough these so-called writers were already ripping of the orignal's episodes we truly didn't need this meomory lane of pain. If you just want to live true nostalgic episodes then ho watch It on your complete DVD set for what I care. Still If thrde amateurs still think they can still try to win me over cause I was already out of here before Season 2 decided to embarrass themselves even more.
You know what I would have done with this episode? After the stories told by Blossom and Buttercup, we see Bubbles doing something helpful before the story ends, that would be brought up in the crowd scene at the end. And maybe they should have made it so it seems like Bubbles hasn’t done anything useful recently, making her feel like she’s no longer useful, rather than she’s never been. The fight at the start that we never see? Show that, make it so Bubbles actually doesn’t do anything helpful, and make those the seeds of doubt that make the rest of the episode happen.
Did...did Buttercup just shove a tentical into her mouth lick it then rub it onto Blossom? Wow they are really trying to see how many toes they can step across that line
*walks out of therapy* oh boy I’m finally cured of that “you know what” situation and now I can enjoy life! Oh look, I new PPG review! :D *watches up to **6:33* .___. .... *immediately storms back into therapy sessions*
You know...they could argue that because a lot of series like this don't hold a lot of continuity, that it's okay to have a one-off episode that explores shit like this....but haven't we done so many episodes like this in THIS SERIES that focuses on Bubbles' worrying about her place in the group, with or without it dealing with her powers? We had Bubbles of the Opera and the road trip episode for examples, both of which are about Bubbles feeling insecure or worried that without something she claims as her own she doesn't have anything. How the fuck can they keep repeating this line over and over and not improve on it? And I get it; there are characters like this and people feel like this two where they have their highs and lows in feeling good/bad about themselves but there is just something so overwhelmingly frustrating about having to see this plot point repeated over and over in this show, as if the writers are just forcing the joke when it was never really any good to begin with. Maybe it's just my lack of sympathy for Bubbles at this point but part of the reason why the old episodes worked with playing with her vulnerability was because they actually DID show Bubbles as being the softer of the sisters and she wasn't vain about it. Of the three girls, she WAS the most childlike and it makes sense why she would feel bad when compared to her more mature sisters. With the new Bubbles however her attitude is so grating and off-putting; she's no longer that five year old with super powers. She's a really stupid adult who fucks up constantly and is needlessly vain about her looks. You can't sympathize with that, especially when they keep repeating the same fucking plot constantly. Seriously, if it weren't for these reviews there would be nothing entertaining out of the show. That's how lackluster it is.
I know it's a minor detail, but I really hate how the newspaper isn't the Townsville Tribune anymore. Like, at least come up with something that isn't, "The Enquirer." Also, this. Bubbles being vulnerable is played out.
Fun fact about that particular lobster phone sculpture by Dali - it's been well documented that both telephones and lobsters had heavy sexual connotation for the artist himself. Literally no idea why, but the fact that that statue is in this cartoon given how the artist felt about it is something else
I thought of some fixes 1) Loose the Newspapers it makes much more sense if all the hate is Just in Bubbles head instead of other people actually thinking that, 2) instead of Flashbacks have everything happen one in a row. 3) Have Bubbles have to save her family at the end
Good point it's all a matter of opinion I just don't think that the whole everyday hero moral really works in a franchise like this and the plot is stupid and just doing to the anyway so it's pointless and eye contacts anyway
This reminds me of that Season 9 MLP episode (S9E15), the one where they screwed up Rainbow Dash's character and continuity. Nowhere NEAR this scale, but still, it was pretty ridiculous. Rainbow Dash hates cheering for her friends, or her team? Please.
