As usual, wonderful reviews. I have to say something here. With the change of seasons and the huge dump of patterns from literally, everywhere, I've watched a ton of seasonal pattern reviews lately. IMO, yours are the best. Here's why. You review the garment, not the model, for one thing. If there is a fit issue on the model, you make note of it but quickly tell us that if we have those long arms, full bust, or whatever, like the model, we need to be aware with this pattern and THIS is what you need to do to fix it. It is so respectful of the designer, the model and the company. You take the time to check out ease issues. I love that as it is highly misunderstood by many newer sewists. Thanks for that. You go into detail on the fabrics recommended or not and why. That sets you apart as well. I have seen your knowledge and interest in fit grow since you started and you are really good with your assesments and take positive critique well. Your reviews are not boring. You inject humor, often self deprecating, and never at the expense of the company, designer, or model, all while being respectful of them all. Your reviews are even toned and fun to watch. I love that you have the knowledge to back up what you say about a garment/pattern. There are reviewers who don't and that is so unfair to the designers. All that said, just keep on being yourself and doing the great job you do. Take care.

These aren’t new spring patterns. The website is just highlighting the spring patterns from last year. That’s probably why you felt like you’d seen them before (you had 😉)- plus they are re-releases of previous patterns from the other brands at a more affordable price.

I think that these patterns are last year's Spring 2023 release. They were released on May 9th. I live in Australia and picked up a few of these patterns last year. As far as I know, there has been one more recent release of New Look patterns, which was the New Look Fall 2023 release which came out on September 12, 2023. As far as I can determine, there have been so further New Look releases since then and none for 2024 so far...

Thank you, Lindsey. I enjoyed the commentary. N6753 was previously seen on Simplicity S9470. And N6751 is a remake of Butterick B6051. I already own the Butterick pattern, but I'll probably get the New Look because I like it that it has all the sizes in one envelope. As I age, my weight can't decide where it wants to be. 🥴

I feel like New Look is like Princess Anne of the British royal family: quiet, stylish, capable yet overlooked in favor of the flashier and troublesome siblings. I always think to myself I should buy this New Look or that New Look when you do these videos, but during the pattern sales I'm grabbing up everything BUT New Look. I'm one of those people who like to see unique designs but I'll make an exception for spring dresses. Give me some pretty gathers, a long row of dainty buttons, swishy fabric with ruffles and flounces in February and I'm happy. Maybe because I live in the north where winters are half the year, I'm just glad to see a sign of spring. So what if the spring dresses look the same every spring? I'm there for thwm, dammit!

Love the Princess Royale. I think these actually aren't new for 2024, they are just featuring what can be sewn for spring

I don’t think the circle skirt of the first pattern is pieced. I don’t see any seamlines, actually. Thanks for the video, Lindsey!

Normally New Look is on sale atJoAnn’s when ever Simplicity is on sale. It just isn’t advertised that way.

You seem to want to put the waist too high, I agree this first pattern is a little long but not as long as you mentioned. Where is the short and top that is shown on the top of the page, listed as spring break?

MMM isn't the N6749 the same as M7974 but doesn't include a collar ?

For you and everyone out there who likes the first dress, the one that buttons down the front and has the wide fitted midriff, please take note of this! I bought the pattern when it first came out in the spring of 2023, and the pattern instruction sheet in the envelope IS WRONG!!! It's for a very different dress pattern from 2007 or so. I called the company, and was very disappointed in their customer service. All they did was email me the correct instruction sheet, which, when printed out, is microscopic. And, they didn't apologize or anything! Since last March, almost every time I go into a JoAnn store, I check the pattern and bring it to the attention of the store manager, who pulls it off the rack. Next time I go in, they have them back up for sale with the wrong instructions again. Anyway, during your video, I pulled my copy out and thought I would share the finished garment measurements for bust and waist. Bust: 6 34" 8 35" 10 36" 12 37.5" 14 39.5" 16 41.5" Waist: 6 25.5" 8 26.5" 10 27.5" 12 29" 14 31" 16 33" I love the details you pointed out in the knit maxi dress, 6751. Those details make it a must for me to get, even though I have patterns that are somewhat similar. Thanks, Lindsey, for another great first impression video!!❤

Your comment is interesting. I bought a butterick pattern and some pattern pieces were missing. They had included one pattern sheet twice and completely omitted the other. I wrote to customer services and I never even got a reply. I'll probably never buy another big 4 pattern.

The fact that they are not even adding poppers to the bodysuits like we had in the 1990s is actually horrifying to me. You cannot go to the toilet in these things, trust me, you can't. Back in the day you would wear these things once, and then realise you can't do the poppers up while drunk and never wear one again. Today's teenagers are going to wet themselves.

It's a rite of passage to get excited about the idea of a body suit, buy them in every color, then wear them once and say 'never again.' Then a new generation of women repeat the cycle. Nobody wears a body suit more than twice. Nobody.
