This is a review of the return spring removal mod on the headlight switch for the 2015+ silverado HD trucks. This video specifically adresses the questions about the stops in the switch. Also a brief explanation of how to do the mod.
@@ericfromflorida5146 hey bud I did mine today happy with the results only issue is when I put back together the metal clip or rod my knob does not click like yours in the video light work when I want them on I turn them on when off their off I like it was tired of the drl always on so my switch knob is a lil loose switches freely with no clicks n stays on every setting like yours I did bend the metal clip a lil to fit it in was really hard knob would not fit in it’s housing maybe I bend too much

does my 2012gmc have a fuses for the fog light in the cluster panel when i turn on my fog light the fog light comes on buy the light in the dash does not come on

I also saw you on duramaxforum, I'm pretty sure that i tried every single position with the switch, as soon as i moved from parking the lights went on and i don't like it. It didn't work so i put the spring back. I wish i could have the solution...I have seen stickers from Mexico on my truck, is there any difference with chevy trucks assembly in Canada?,

CLAUDIO GALVEZ In Canada, auto lights/DRL are mandated by law. You can only turn the auto light system OFF in Park. Once out of Park, the auto lights reactivate unless you've already selected manual on.
When I initially did this mod, others wondered if the factory stops at each position of the switch would still be present. So the video was intended to illustrate that the stops are indeed still present after you do the spring removal mod on the headlamp switch. I added a brief verbal description on how do do the mod at the end.
Gotcha. First, there is no difference that I'm aware of in the switch option between the 1500s and their HD counterparts. Second, the mod is for those that want to disable the daytime running lights and auto headlamps. Usually this means individuals that have HIDs. The mod allows the switch to remain in the "off" position indefinitely (until moved by the driver) thus disabling the daytime running lights and auto activation of the headlamps. This is important to the trucks with aftermarket HID kits as the bulbs and ballasts are expensive and the constant cycling on and off shortens the life cycle of the above mentioned components. The headlight switch can be turned back to the "auto" position for normal operation.
Hey bud, you have to leave the switch all the to the left "off" position. Normally with the spring in place the "off” position is momentary (ie it'll spring back to the auto position once released). With the spring removed, the "off" position is now perminent.
i have a 2015 Silverado 1500 4x4 and i don't have no idea why but the spring removal didn't work, i tried twice as soon as i put the truck on drive the headlights went on, do you know why?
You have to leave the switch in the "off" position. If you have the truck in the "auto" position when you start it or turn the key to the "acc" position, it will work as it should before the mod. Leaving it in the "off" position, upon start up will disable the auto head lamps and DRLs.
I also did this mod on my 2014 Sierra, still can’t get the lights to turn off while in gear... I can get the knob to stay in the off position, but the lights won’t shut off unless I’m in park still.
