RS232 and RS485 are just connection types. The system uses only TWO cables in the connectors to communicate. From the Controller RS485, connect to the first and third slot (middle empty). The RS232 has 9 cables. You may need to look at the manual for the camera to find out which PIN is used for camera control. You might like to use a RS232 connector on one end and an open cable to the other. For me, I use a RJ45 cable to connect the devices together to make it easy to connect and remove. E.g. Open Cat6 Lan cable from controller > RJ45 to RJ45 adapter > Cat 6 long cable > RJ45 to RJ45 adapter > RJ45 Connector to RS232 Connector.

Sure. You have to set the camera setting on the PTZ before you can use the joystick. Press setup on the ptz remote that comes with the ptz and go into the menu. There’s a section where you can specify the camera number. If your ptz uses ipaddress, you can also set the ipaddress on the joystick. If you have two cameras, 1 and 2. To control the camera you have to press 1 then Cam to select camera 1.

The camera address is set within the camera settings instead of the controller. Imagine, the controller wants to send a command to tilt the camera down, on the controller we will select the camera number first. So the controller broadcast the data for camera 09 to all cameras. Only the camera with ID 09 will take action. Hope that helps you understand.

Move camera with joystick to pan and tilt, rotate the joystick to zoom in and out.

Then once at position you want, press number on the keypad, then press preset.

To call the preset, just press number and Call
