Like the cylinder glass look, get heat and light at the same time... nice. I have the 23,800 btu unit, but I doesn't have the glass like this one here... I wished it did. It does however put some major heat out, good grief. I can heat my 12x70 mobile home with it and the temps get up in the mid 80's just with one hours use... thing will toast you out.
I just bought the bigger DynaGlo heater yesterday. We had a couple of power outages last winter. I'll be using it basiclly for back up, but I'm going to break it out a couple of times, over the holidays, just to try it out and become familiar with the unit.
I have the big one as well. Great review! I use a torch lighter to light mine as the igniter takes a bit too long. Amazing little heaters Dyna- Glo brand is the only one.
Great instructional review! Thanks for the kerosene storage, manual ignite and turning off tips. Got mine last year and love it. Oct. 29 it's 48 deg. outside and haven't turned furnace on once yet! Only down side is it's hard to find kerosene here in Salem, MA. Someone said to just use diesel-nope, I know better!
Been looking for the small one like this. I got a big one but wow it sucks down some fuel. Got a little radiant one too. Seems silly but i want this one too. If you get the change to purchase a radiant one youll like it. They dont put out any light but they blast out the heat. I like em cause that glowing screen seems to work a little like a catalytic converter so even if your kerosene is a little skucky it seems to do alright. But honestly ill run the radiant one week and the convection the next. Their both great.
Thank you so much for such a in depth review, I live in a small one-bedroom apartment and never had a Kerosene Heater. Question .... Will the Unit use as much fuel if I close off half the Apartment and only use it on Low? (I really need to stretch the Fuel as much as possible), Oh and a second question, can I put a small Tea Kettle on the Top to make a Cup of Tea or Coffee? just asking. I would only be using this Heater if the Complex had a complete Power Outage, (All Electric Here). I figure better to have and NOT Need than to NEED and NOT HAVE. I'm on a Fixed Income so I really need to be careful. When this Review was made Kerosene was really cheap compared to what it is now. I live in Colorado, and everything is pointing to a very bad Winter on top of Food Shortages and who knows what's coming next with this Government, I thank God it's just me and my Dog. If 'Anyone' can think of something I'm forgetting or need to know please Chime In, I'd be very thankful. Take care Friends, keep warm, be safe and God bless us all. ☘Eileen☘ (P.S. I Subbed to you Leo, you sound like a right good Guy with a sense of humour) ie: Your answer to Terri hahaha.
Yes you can put a tea kettle on top of this heater and heat food on it also. This heater should be able to heat your whole apartment and if not then close a door to make your space smaller. This heater has only 2 settings low and high so you won't save any fuel by closing a door and if it is able to heat your whole apartment then enjoy. YOU MUST get yourself a BATTERY powered carbon monoxide detector so you don't accidentally get carbon monoxide poisoning since you will be running an open flame in your small apartment with no real ventilation unless you crack a window open for a little fresh air. Also get yourself a long skinny funnel for putting fuel in your heater. You will need 2 blue colored 5 gallon fuel containers to get your kerosene. Red for gasoline, yellow for diesel and blue for kerosene. Tractor Supply sells all 3 colors and I believe home depot sells all 3 colors also. Shop around for your kerosene your best prices will be found at some gas stations or small hardware stores. You should be able to heat your place for 2+ days on 5 gallons of kerosene with the 10,000 BTU heater. Good luck and stay warm my friend and if you have any other questions please let me know.
I just bought one of these to heat my 450 square foot cabin when it gets down to 20°F outside. I was trying to decide if I should've gotten the 23,000 BTU version but I think it would've been too hot. I'm new to kerosene heaters and I learned that these heaters only have 1 temperature setting. I like the way this heater looks compared to the bigger version.
I have one on order. I used the daddy version of it last year but the violent shut off ended up stripping the gear in it so it won't raise the wick high enough now. I used to try doing as you suggest and hold the knob as it shuts off but I couldn't catch it every time. Also. the larger model was too much heat and used up the kerosene too fast so this will be better for both reasons.
Keep the doors of the rooms in the house open, that provides enough ventilation. I got the 23800 BTU one new at Home Depot for $149. I live in Texas, but up north, they are easy to find at garage sales. It will be worth it when the power goes out this winter to heat the main portion of the house and save the pipes. I also like that you can cook on top of it. Not as fast as a stove, but we only have an electric stove, so we can at least make some food in power outages too.
I bought this model heater after a severe ice storm a few years ago and I haven't had to use it since then. Can you comment on how well that model would heat your living room in a cold winter power outage? What kind of temperatures could you expect in that room if your furnace is out?
Rat Kindler Im thinking of getting this one. I have a 23800 btu convection and it heats a large living room and kitchen and wash room easy with high ceiling's. This one prolly better for bed rooms and prolly uses less fuel. The big one i have maybe get 9 hours on full tank but it had me sweating at almost 80 in the house and 22 outside. I prefer convection over radient heaters anyhow as they heat the air.
WK11C8 NOT WK11CB But Good heater! You can cook on em and give off alot of light....made a shield for mine to cut down light reflection! Definantly light it outside and as long as the flame is white your good! Shut em off outside also! And use K-1 Kerosene........Pure clean burn! And due a burnout every now and then......
I have this same heater but can not get the wick to lower properly using the safety cut off, seems like it's too thick and binds when lowering it down the center tube. Tried 3 times with no hope:( wick is the right one per id number
@@73leo73 dude!!! I wasn't so dumb as to try and install an old wick !!!! Give me a break!! I baught the proper wick ! A NEW WICK FROM THE SAME CO. I BAUGHT IT FROM. IT NEVER WORKED RIGHT EVEN WHEN IT WAS BRAND SPANKING NEW! THE WICK WOULD NEED WEEKLY BURNS TO GET IT TO RUN GOOD. THIS HEATER IS GARBAGE BECAUSE THE WICK ACTION HAS TO TRAVEL TOO FAR TO WORK!!!
I don't remember who said this but on these and the double clean the wick travel for kerosene is too high and this can and eventually causes problems with proper combustion.
