This is the AliExpress version of Legos Titanic. I go through the build and review it afterwards with my genuine thoughts on whether this kit is worth paying £120 for
I ordered mine whilst tipsy one night!! Then searched for a review on the tube, came across this video and it truly lowered my anxiety. Anyway finished the build (43 hours in total) and it’s very impressive, love it, thanks for the video. 👍🏻
That late night browsing followed by the impulsive purchase is something I seem to fall victim too quite often. Well done on the build, I wish I had documented how many hours mine took me.
Fantastic video! Subbed Just got into lego myself at the age of 46. I am hooked! currently building the huge AliExpress knock off of the ucs Millennium Falcon. It’s amazing! And a bargain to boot! Look forward to seeing g more of your content. Happy days, cheers mate.
I came to this video for the Aliexpress Titanic, but I stayed for the charming commentary and review. Your editing isn't bad at all! Great video, keep it up man.
Oh wow! I woke up to this lovely comment this morning 😃 Thank you. I'm in the middle of doing an Ali Express version of the Ferrari Daytona. That should be uploaded in the next week or so. Johnny
Thank you for the video. I’ve just completed the AliExpress Titanic (not predicated on this video) and like you, found the experience to be excellent. The package arrived in about a week. It had 23 large numbered bags in it, which matched the 23 major stages in the instruction booklet. Everything went together well and there were no missing parts. You are right about the instructions though - the copy version, being much condensed, makes distinguishing some small parts really difficult. The PDF would have been better, although I reverted to using the Lego App as all the parts and colours were in the pack I got were pretty much identical. So, following initial concerns (about whether it would be delivered, whether there would be problems - all of which were unfounded), I have no regrets and am delighted with the end result. Like you, I’m looking for the next now. Thanks again…
There was always that anticipation with AliExpress that either the goods might not turn up or they might be faulty. I have ordered so many things from there now and not once had a problem. Since building the Titanic, I have built a Ferrari Daytona (also posted on my channel) and now am in the middle of putting together the Grand Piano, 21323. Trouble is, all these things are so large, I dont know where to put them all 😄
Your Video was 28 minutes of my lifetime very well spent! Thank you so very much! I just opened the ugly big brown delivery-box and am in a state of sheer oberwhelming. But obviously it can be done. Again: thanks a lot and greetings from, apalled to say it, shithole Germany.👋👍
honestly mate I been considering getting the AliExpress version for my girlfriend when I visit her as she loves the titanic, and it would be fun to build together, I had some doubts that it wouldn't be too great quality but after watching this I'm honestly surprised, definitely going to gift it to her.
You really wont regret it. I'm at a loss since I finished mine. So much so, that I'm thinking of ordering a the lambo kit from Ali Express. I truly believe these are original kits that have been debadged.
Thanks for making this video I’ll be picking one from AliExpress and I’m glad you enjoyed building it I hope I get mine in less time then u had to wait lol take care.
Great to see you back with a new video. I loved it, great content, great commentary. I could see just how much pleasure, this project brought to you. Thank you for sharing and bringing joy to us. Ps. Hope the thumb is better. Paul.
I want to order one too really bad and I saw your video and want to ask where to find that construction guide, like the book so if you could help me would be grete, great video i watched at it while smiling, thank you!!
This kit was a gift to me from my brother. The pdf was emailed to me from the seller. I have been told that this can also be found on the Lego website too
@@treetopspider I saw a lot of options on aliexpress from like 200 to 100 quid and I am really confused because I do not know witch one to buy because none of them talked about the construction guide
Hey, Great to see you back! We've missed you over here in New England. We've followed you through a couple of car restorations, your apartment refurb and even the clock episode. So, I can hardly wait to watch this latest adventure.
I also have the Ali express version of this set. Bought the original Eiffel Tower this year which was really expensive so couldn’t afford a second expensive set. The Ali version is beautiful. People that aren’t into Lego wouldn’t see the difference although people that build with it can see it in a second. Flags are different and the Ali bricks have small dimples in it where real Lego bricks have the word “Lego” on it. Really like this set with all its small details. You can look at it for hours. Perhaps adding a light kit would make it even more awesome
Does anyone know if The instructions and the actual build follow what the original Lego would? I would assume that it does since it has exactly the same amount of pieces but they may have made it have the same amount of pieces just so that people would compare it to the actual Lego set. I had wanted this set for years and went to look and see if I could find a deal on one on eBay and came across this and the set that I found even has light switches awesome. If the build matches the Lego build then I am definitely spending $210 tonight.
Ive never built a real Lego kit but knowing Ali Express, Ive got no doubt that they have copied it to be exactly the same minus any trademard logos. As mentioned in the video, this was an absolute joy to build. The pieces snapped together with a satisfying click. You wont regret the purchase. Try to find one with a PDF, it makes life so much easier
Hi, I just bought this for my son and it came with no pdf download link. Where did you get your pdf download from? I can’t find anywhere online and seller is slow to reply
Literally finished my genuine Lego titanic last night other than getting it in the Lego box in the 3 stages makes me wonder what I spent that extra £500 on!? I can’t see much difference to yours at all it’s so identical! Only thing I did notice is the random white brick on the rudder but other than that brilliant it’s a joy to build! Already got the light kit to go in now too!
Its a shame that Lego dont reduce the price of their kits to make them more affordable. I've just finished the Ferrari Daytona SP3 kit from AliExpress (uploaded vid) again, its a fantastic piece of kit which only cost me £60 delivered compared to £320 in the shops here. Aside from that, isnt it an amazing satisfying hobby? The lights are really going to set it off.
I'm afraid I dont have the link as my brother bought it for me as a gift. However, he did say that the one he ordered for me wasnt from the same seller as his one. So I think you should be ok with whichever one you order.
@@joscious. Hi, I’m the person that bought that from Ali, I also bought another from a different seller and another two sets. Much like EBay if you look at the sellers ratings you pretty much can’t go wrong, make sure the piece amount and dimensions tally and you will be ok. Ali express are strict on who can sell and if you pay by PayPal and are not happy you will get a full refund. The second kit was a few days late and I messages the seller, he was prompt on reply and assured me it was on its way, two days later it arrived.
Hi, I couldn't find the original advert because my brother bought this one for me, but I found a link to one that's similar s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_Dnqxcf9 Hope this helps
It may just be your skill in assembling Lego, but judging from the video of the final result, I expect I'd be able to tell which was real and which was fake within five seconds of entering the room. ;)
Hi, my brother bought this kit for me after building one for himself. He did say that although they were both bought from different companies on AliExpress, the quality was exactly the same. I can't comment on a comparison with a genuine Lego kit, but I can say the quality is amazing
My brother bought this for me but if you just go to Ali Express and type in 'Lego Titanic 9090pcs' a page will come up with several sellers. I'd personally choose a seller that has had more sales even if its slightly more expensive.
I just received my aliexpress set. I got it with the box and instructions. However on step 10 of the very first bag I am missing the half circle piece and the swivel pieces. Step 11 you need the same three pieces so I’m missing those 6. Unless they’re in another bag. But I’ve opened the big first bag which had a bunch of smaller bags inside. Did anyone else have a similar issue?
Sometimes the parts needed run into other bags. The instructions are from the original Lego handbook but the way Ali Express pack the parts doesnt correlate with the instruction booklet. Hope that helps
I'm glad that your Titanic turned out all right. There could've easily been pieces missing, the wrong pieces included or pieces in the wrong colours, but it seems to have worked out for you. However, that's not to say that buying a fake Titanic is always a safe option. There's a lot of luck involved.
Just found your channel! Loved the video, you should have a look at Cobi sets as well, they do all sorts of ships and boats in this scale too and cheaper than lego.
My brother bought this for me after buying his own. I know that he bought from different AliExpress sellers each time but both sets were exactly the same. Look out for the amount of pieces. As long as its 9090 (if I recall) then itll be the same.
Thank you for the detailed review of this set. I'm no lego enthusiast but I want to start building some of these as a hobby. You sold me on this one. Thank you!
Great video! In case anyone is planning on buying one of these kits, they are so accurate to the ‘original’ you can actually follow the Lego instructions on their video.
Mine arrived yesterday in the states, thought I would share my story quickly as I haven't started building it yet. It arrived in a big grey plastic bag, rather than a box. Off to a great start! Will post again if I discover any missing pieces.
I'm just under a third of the way through the build, so far I am missing the 2 black 1x2 curved pieces that go under the anchor chains on the sides of the ship, one of the black Titanic name plates(could clearly see in the small bag that only one was present, I received only 7 male(dark grey) swivel pieces(no female parts) so I substituted white to continue building, there are zero tan swivel pieces to be found( I scanned ahead in the book to see where more swivels are needed). This is where I am so far, will update again as the build continues. Will be Brick Linking whatever I need but just sharing my experience for information purposes.
All but finished at this point. Will be about 20 dollars or so to replace the missing pieces. Also bought the real one today and will start it soon, will be adding the KYGlaring lighting kit to it. Happy building!
Im looking on aliexpress and there are so many different ones. The same seller has one up for £120 and one for £105 but its the same exact description and product? I dont get it.
There could be two reasons. It could be that for £120 you get a hard copy instruction booklet as opposed to a pdf. The other reason could be £105 is plus shipping which would bring it up to £120
@@treetopspider Theyre both free shipping. One says pdf manual and the other says nothing, so it could potentially be the instructions but it doesn’t specify. Im trying to do as much research as possible before i go ahead and buy one. Dont want to make a mistake and buy from a dodgy seller. Its weird because i see some have a lot of products sold but their reviews arent shown, so im not sure who’s best to go with. Might just have to take the chance at this point.
I found one for £140 that seems to have the best reviews and customer service whereas the others have some negative reviews about delivery, missing pieces and piece quality. I might have to go with the more expensive one as it seems less of a gamble.
Why? If you make a moc with instructions, the chinese will copy it. That's "only" worthless plastic, man. If there is a real e-mail I send you a picture of the real one...
When you say "their version of the LEGO Titanic," did you mean to say "a complete rip-off of LEGO's design, made in a sweatshop supporting illegal activities"?
Lego literally has factories in jiaxing, China. So quit crying and don't buy it if you're upset about it, go pay $700+ for it. Lego as a company was also a copy of another company when they started, they just ended up doing plastic bricks better than the original company, so Lego ripped off the idea from the original creator of plastic brick play sets 👍
@@jordanshaw1605 First of all, "factories in Jiaxing, China" doesn't automatically equate to sweatshops or illegal activities-LEGO actually has VERY strict ethical standards and monitors its supply chain rigorously. LEGO having a factory in Jiaxing is a strategic move to optimize their supply chain by manufacturing products closer to their growing markets in Asia. This is just one of their many global manufacturing locations, which also include factories in Denmark, Hungary, and Mexico. This widespread presence helps LEGO maintain high production standards and ethical practices across the board, ensuring their products meet the same quality and safety standards worldwide. Nice try, though. As for the price, I'm more than willing to pay a premium for quality, innovation, and ethical manufacturing. If you want to support knockoffs that undermine creativity and potentially exploit workers, thats says more about you than it does me. And let's clear up your history lesson: Lego didn't "rip off" anyone. The company innovated and refined the concept of interlocking bricks, creating a global phenomenon and an industry standard. The so-called original company didn't have a patent on the idea, nor did they take it anywhere close to the level of excellence LEGO achieved. So, if you're going try to lecture me, at least get your facts straight. 😘
