Review of Kracess Smart Helmet 

yes, i normally don't ride with the visor down except when I know I am going be riding through a swarm of nats by the river. A yellow one would be nice for those rides at Dusk and I have to have it down for the nats. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks...I actully thought about getting the Sena after seeing some posts on the Lectric XP facebook group. My wife is deaf and wears hearing aids that is bluetoothed to her phone. Not sure how it would work with the hearing aids (for either helmet for that matter). I thought about just having the phone connected to the helmet and we can call and talk to each other. Of course we are then limited to 2 people. If the Sena was more affordable, I would get it for my kids so that I can yell at them when we are riding on the path! I haven't used the camera feature much, too much work for me to pull video off. But I do like the big blinkers, scary on the road sometimes. I appreciate the feedback and love the discussion!

I do still use it. I have two different styles. This one I use when I ride on city streets. I have a different one I use when I mountain bike and ride with my friends and family because it has a walkie talkie option.

Thanks for your kind feedback. I use this helmet when I commute...put on 1000 miles this september/october wearing this. Kept me safe and kept me company with the bluetooth. Safe riding.

That is a good question, I would need to check. I don't think so. When I use the video, it seems to record in 3 minute segments. But to be fair, I don't use the camera function much because it's a hassel for me to transfer the media and make it compatible with apple.

I start the camera after I put it on every time. I don’t download clips unless I recorded something interesting.

Thanks for your feedback. It was simply take the chip out and plug it into the computer.

@@tai.randomthings I found it difficult to be able to put card into slot, since I have arthritis in my hands. I saw a photo that looked like they could use the charging cable to transfer data to a computer. Have you tried that?

UPDATE; I FIGURED IT OUT. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on the computer. Then, turn the Smart Helmet camera on as usual by pressing 2nd button. On the computer, icon appears and by opening it there are two folders Photos & Videos. I just copied them to the desktop. I was also able to delete them from the camera memory to make room for more.

Sorry for the late reply, for some reason, I didn't get a notificaiton. But thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I am also trying out a different helmet (Sena), but more because I want a mesh intercom system when I'm riding with my family. Hard to talk when we are riding single track.

@@tai.randomthings Sena makes sense I think they figured it out. I'd assume talk feature would be poor with most other brands. I ended up with Abus Pedelec helmet and added Bintrager light to it. So it's controlled by navigation and it really works. By that I mean 1) highly visible day light and 2) I don't need charge remote / navigation or light / helmet every other day. But rather once a month.

Someone else suggested the same thing. At this time, that's how I use it, only when needed. I did think for what it is, the still photos weren't bad.

Unfortunately, no. At least not the version I have. Maybe in their newer helmet, they will incorporate it.

I agree that if you are looking for a true action camera, best to go with a gopro or something like that. For the same points you've made, I don't use the camera on the helmet. However, I have had a different experience on the other aspects. I have made/received many calls while riding 15+ MPH and going into the wind and the people on the other end have said they can hear me fine. They can't even tell I am on a bike. The radio have worked well for me at while riding 20+ mph (i can hear the music clearly as well as hearing traffic and other riders approaching me). The helmet is far from perfect and I totally agree that I hope they or someone else will come out with a better design to address those flaws you have identified as well as maybe add MIPs and as well as a more sleek look. To be candid, I just bought the SENA M1 EVO to test out. It still doesn't have camera but it does have rider to rider communications, which I am eager to test out. It's not "worthless" it's for safety reasons only. Not sure why people were expecting such good quality, probably because you wanna do your little youtubes lol, go find something else.

For the low price of this helmet the camera is good enough for dashcam use. Never had a problem with visor falling off.

Not sure what kind of bike you have, but Lectric makes a pretty good mirror. I put them under handlebars instead of on top. If I find better ones I'll let you know.

@@PLATYPUSMOFO I actually have a video on that and I did the same as you, it's under and it works well that way. But I find that it comes lose too easy and it's a little spendy. I think there are good alternatives on Amazon that may not be perfect but hard to beat the price.

Agree, I think the go pro definately does a botter job. I guess it really depends on what you are using it for.

Yes, it's not the greatest camera. I think you have to go with a "Go Pro" type if you want a quality camera. LOL...yes, my head is lopsided. The visor fits square with my son. But most of the time, I flip the visor up (it covers the camera). I only flip the visor down when I riding in an area with a lot of bugs (e.g., along the river at dusk).

The visor doesn’t flip. You have to remove it from the magnetic mounts, turn it, and mount it back on. The video can film through the visor without much change in video quality. I think the quality is good enough for dashcam use for recording accidents.
