I have a Ricoh AF-5 which is very similar in design to this Nikon but it's all some of the flash issues that the Nikon has. This just simple switch I push if I want the flash to pop up in any lighting situation. And it doesn't force me to use the flash either enroll light if I just want to stick the camera on a tripod. I haven't run any film through it yet. If I ever pick up a Nikon it would be interesting to do a side-by-side comparison.
