I have completely opposite feelings on the Terex/ASV loaders. Very powerful for their size, very agile and highly sought after by landscaper because of such. Maybe yours wasn't fully working properly after all. I used a PT-50 to landscape with and sold it to an excavating contractor to backfill with and we both loved the machine. NO problems whatsoever with stalling out or weak points. I also owned a PT110F forestry unit and that thing was outstanding for pushing snow and doing tree work. Way better than for snowplowing than a Bobcat track loader. Just my opinion. Also, keep in mind that the PT-50 is non-turboed. If you want to really push material like a bulldozer, get the PT-60 or PT-70 with turbos. That's what a turbo is for.

I am a service technician for Terex. And the reason I'm a service technician for Terex is because I'm busy I work every day and I work long hard days fixing Terex equipment. I hear many people have the same opinion that a lot of Terex equipment poor engineered and for the price you pay it's all cheap junk

Robert Jimenez Hire people that actually care about stuff then. Also how are they going to stop if you don't get on them about it? I say that because I have a feeling you just let them do it without getting on them. If you just let them then they will keep doing it, you know like little kids. When you do that you pay less money to buy quality tools less than buying cheap ones every few months. It's seems like you're just not a business owner type of person. Especially with your elementary school grammar. I'm not even a grammar nazi, but when someone does run on sentences and can't put words together at least somewhat the right way then I want to say it. When someone has to lower their IQ for a few seconds to be able to read bad grammar then it's too bad.

I've got the TSR 50 skid steer, and it's the best skid steer I've ever worked with in every possible way. The only issue I've had was dirty battery terminals, and if that's the worst I can come up with I really can't complain.

We have owned a 50 for ten years and run it in steep canyons cutting trees. We use a erskin-power ax cutter, grapple or extreme brush cutter. This machine is simple to work on and has been absolutely maxed out...BIG TIME...many times!! This machine has preformed well in summer as well as winter and we now have 1700 hrs on it. Sorry to hear that you got a bad one and I do agree that it will not do what the 80 will, but our 50 sure dose not owe us a nickel at all. If I need to throw something on a trailer to go get something done, it’s easy to move around. After adding a cup holder, it has worked out perfectly for us.

I can't speak for everything else, but one of the few machines I have ever run was a Terex skid steer with a mulching head. Not going to lie, it was badass and never seemed to crap out on me. But I'm not a operator, just a guy that occasionally runs machinery. On a unrelated note, my favorite machine was a a 2000's era CAT track loader. That thing had real power.

I have a Terex 30hp model. It was always starving for power. The dealer said nothing was wrong. After 600 hours I finally figured out the primer bulb was after the fuel water separator and that was sucking air off the top of the separator canister. The manual was completely wrong that came with the machine, you couldn’t even reach the separator the way it came. I switched the primer bulb to be before the separator and now it has more power. It was hard to believe that it could be wrong from the factory, I called to check on recalls, but there never was any. I don’t know what could be done, I don’t have any real evidence? I like the turf tracks on the machine and is the primary reason is use it, they’re non marking on concrete too.

5 years In with Pt30. Love it. Very reliable, does everything it’s supposed to. Hardscape use only, great for tight spaces and running over grass with little to no marks. Looking to buy an rt 40 with a little more jam, but still only 48” wide. That’s when I came across this. Great video, but very little research completed to make such rash judgements. But hey, everyone has a nose.

We have a PT80 and use it on 2:1 and 3:1 slopes all the time at landfills. 300 to 400 feet top to bottom. This machine has no problem pulling heavy sections of tarps or bucket loads of dirt up and down these slopes. Some of these areas I would be too scared to use another machine. Also use it to pull a 14k lb trailer thru sand and mud. Perhaps you had the wrong size machine for your project.

In Australia the we buy the PT50’s with a factory fitted turbo taking horse power up around the PT60 mark. I’ve had an SR80, now a PT80 due to traded for a RT75. I also have a PT50t that sits in the shed for the tight access jobs. The PT50 is not anywhere near the same league as the PT80 but it does what I need it to! Track life of SR80 was 3400hrs when I traded it for a new PT80. PT80 now has 3600hrs still on original tracks and rollers. I’ve been on big civil jobs where the bobcats had to park up because they kept getting bogged, but the Terex/ASV did the work with ease. Say what you want about Terex/ASV machines but I’ll never buy anything else because they work VERY well for me.

I have owned a Terex PT-70 for over a year, and it's AWESOME! The PT-70 has more power than any other skid loader on the market. I have ruined a grapple bucket, because the tractor has so much power, when I was backing out of a path of trees with 1 tree in the bucket, I tried to break the tree in half using 2 other trees (Still standing) and wa-lla! The seals in the grapple bucket blew and I got an oil bath! I could have sold tickets to see this stunt. The PT-70 is a beast.

I have a 2008 PT60 basically a PT50 with a turbo and bigger hydraulic motors and two speeds best Skidsteer out there in my mind. They are designed for grading in any conditions but not lifting. I think the PT50 was a bad choice for sure for what you need it to do it was way under powered. In it's defence the PT50 50HP weighs only a 6000 lbs able to lift 1900lbs compared to your S250's 75HP weighs 8000lbs can lift 2500 lbs the pins are naturally going to be bigger. When it comes down to machines you need to check your specs.

Nice review, i didn't realize that they made different scales of skid steer, only ones I've worked with are cat and Deere, only thing I don't like about the cat is it's lighter than I'm used to, I could use the Deere to load a 12ft snow box on to a flatbed no problem but the cat couldn't lift it an inch off the ground. They're still good machines for what we use them for which is mainly loading mulch and pallets of salt into trucks.

I run a terex pt-30 ( 1600kgs, 1300mm wide) in construction for 5 months now and i can say they need more power, and perhaps higher pressure hydraulic oil pumps. while loading trucks the lift capacity can be a tad tricky as it gets abit tippy with bulk soil or concrete. so a note to terex here is whats needed for the pt-30 to stand out : - more engine power output - higher hydraulic pressure - increase the rear weight balance by adding 400kg ( 2000kg machine) to the rear for added lift capacity to be fair Terex seems to be the only brand that offers a true tracked loader at 1300mm wide with pilot controls( not foot controls like the bobcat t110)

I had a Cat 257B which uses the ASV undercarriage. They’d like you to believe the undercarriage is meant for swampy wetlands. Works great until water gets in your bogeys at $358/ea. I could do about $5000 worth of skid steer work and then spend two days and $1500 on the machine. It was an absolute money pit. I got it stuck once and blew both drive motors. Same deal, just stalls. Mine stalled for about 5 seconds a couple times, then it gave up. $8k for new ones. Plus it needed rear bogeys again. I sold it for basically scrap price with 1100 hours on it. By the time I put the time and money in, I’d have barely broken even. I feel ya. ASV/Terex SEEM like a good idea. It’s something you’ll probably only have to do once to see it isn’t a great idea.

man i love your channel and I've learned allot watching you but i cant disagree with you more on this one. I've owned a 2012 pt50 for about 3 years now and I love this machine! I paid 19k for mine with 650 hours, everything else was twice that with more hours. for a 50 horse naturally aspirated engine I think it does pretty dam good. because it don't have a two speed option when you pushing a lot of dirt or steep grade, you can't push the joy stick all the way fwd or it will bog down. but if you just back off a bit it really will do anything you want. Maybe this machine isn't for everyone but I'm glad i bought one, been great for me!

David lambert 50 horse is only going to be so strong especially with tracks. I personally think stan really runs his machines hard moving a lot of dirt, day in and day out. In my opinion the terex isn't made for that hard core dirt work company. there more designed for that home owner jobs with small grass or sandy lawns that are slow going. It really surprised me to think stan bought a pt50 when all its specs proves what its designed for.

I was wondering if you guys down in the states have hydro vac trucks to use in finding old buried utilities on construction? I see them all over Alberta but I was wondering if they made their way down to the states?

never ran the.tracked machine but the wheeled unit I have and it was ok. we just bought a takeuchi ts60v and it is a great skid loader for what we use it for. it has a lot more power and has great serviceability. plus my dealer is 15 minutes away

I have owed a PT50 for a few years now with 2500h on it its Ok, I think you got a dud one as mine gets a fair workout. Main issue I have is dust getting into the fuse box causing the 4 in one not to open. Ps had 3 bobcats before the PT50 and I think the bobcats are better made but this PT50 craps all over them to get the job done.

Hey Stanley, I own a small outdoor services business out here in Texas. I have a good amount of customers and find myself at a strange cross roads and am in need of a bit of help in one way or another, aside from balancing my high school career and work. So I was gonna ask if you could make a video of the expansion of a service business, you've done a lot of starting and maintaining them but i have not seen many in the means of 2 years in to it and what to do. I love the channel and have learned a lot from you, appreciate it man.

We used to own a thomas skid loader and if u want power u got it. Freakin thing bent the boom arms because it was trying to lift some heavy rock in PA. Not to mention extremely reliable.

I worked at a mine that had a Komatsu WA600-8 blow up its center drive while underground. I was working elsewhere on the property, but I've been told that the shaft basically grenaded. $12k for a used replacement before labor. The mine I work at now had a WA500-8 down for months with a brake issue that the dealership either could not or would not fix. It then started raising and lowering its boom at random without a key in the ignition or an operator in the cab (unsure if the master switch was on). After a few radio calls about a possessed loader, we finally convinced the dealership to take the darned thing back and give us a loaner. They still haven't given the original back, and I'm okay with that!

My dad bought a PT30 for his Hydroseeding company. I would say that's the only good terex on the market, beats anything else in that specific size class.

Hey Stan... I appreciate your vids. BUT I think you should give it another test with a slightly higher HP Terex/ASV machine. And it's important to pick the right machine for your task. I run a Terex PT70. It's a single speed (the PT75 or PT80 are the 2-spd versions) and it's got excellent power. I bought it used 2 years ago, and use it 30 hrs a week for my landscape co along with other equipment. It's been extremely reliable and it's traction, ground clearance, and balance while grading are what keep me happy with it. I've done more "rough grading" work with it than I should, and it doesn't "excel" at that. Simply because it's only an 8000 lb machine with 70 HP. I've run Kubota SVL75's against it (both machines on same job) and the PT70 out-performs the SVL75 for grading, especially in soft conditions... I think the loader is as strong or stronger also. On dirt, I'll take it over the others. On cement or rough sites (rocks, stumps, etc) I'd go with a Takeuchi or Kubota. In fairness, I've never run the PT50. But, as someone already said, the PT60 is the same machine with more HP... might be worth a shot. Oh, also... maintenance on the Terex/ASV machines sucks. Even reaching the oil filter requires go-go-gadget arm movements. Hands down, performing maintenance is my least favorite aspect of the machine. Anyhow... keep up with the vids, just try to be a bit more "fair" is all.

Yes! Mini skid steers. Yes! SUCH a lack of helpful information out there. So far I've had TWO sources (a local bobcat salesman and one of the owners of Thomas Equipment) who could give me a thorough breakdown of the machine. The how's and why's that no one puts on the spec sheet....and yes I said Thomas Equipment. Don't believe the Internet. They have been back in business for 4 years and they exclusively make mini skid steers and supply parts and refurbish their discontinued full sized skids. Call the number on their website. They'll pick up. Lol

Komatsu D85 the machine that made me drive out to my job site in the middle of the night with a pack of matches I didn't burn it but it left the next day on a low bed and took a big loss on it so I didn't burn the infernal thing.

Rogue Excavating really?? I’ve never owned a Komatsu dozer but I have a couple of PC490’s and Komatsu, to me, makes the best large sized excavators, hands down. I prefer caterpillar for mini excavators and skid steers/track loaders

the first skid steer i ran was a telex, and it was hard to tell what was worse, my experience driving it, or the machine itself.
