Can I Sharpen a £1 knife with the AnySharp knife sharpener? Subscribe at bit.ly/2F8s7Gx AnySharp sharpener amzn.to/2KUHOV3 Testing the AnySharp knife sharpener. Worked surprisingly well!
I bought one a couple of days ago. As I have severe arthritis in my hands but love cooking, sharp knives are a must. I have a drawer full of gadgets but this one really works - easily. It took me a while to get an edge on my most used, bluntest knife. I've sharpened everything -boning knife, filleting knife, steak knife and my serated bread knife. Yes, it is noisy! It was the fact that I could replace the blades eventually that really sold it to me. I've now got scarily sharp knives now - I love it
Thanks for this video. My dyspraxics hands really struggle learning traditional sharpening. But, I wasn’t exactly in a rush to run my knifes through a cheap little contraption that might damage them. At least I know now it’ll do a passable job.
for what its worth, I still use this on my cheaper knives for a quick fix. I do use far less pressure now that what I did in the video, basically the weight of the knife is enough. hope that helps.
I'm really pleased with this! It works like a charm ru-vid.comUgkxDcr-y2Pf6xdnrFHrSP7dl9kpKaCozcSQ Takes less time than my old electric sharpener because it can take more off the knife faster, and then it smooths out nicely with the finer grit polisher. I don't know how long it will last before the grit wears away, but I wouldn't mind having to replace it every once in a while.
There are many different branded versions of this device and all are from China. As it happens I had two branded as Jervis Walker from Australia and the suction cups did not work until I disassembled them to figure out a fix and then made room with a file to insert a washer to increase the throw of the suction plunger. The other one I have which is branded something else, I now see has a metal plate that serves that purpose and so I guess I just got a couple of a bad batch with no quality control and so the parts were missed out. Other than that, I think they are great as long as you draw the blade through vertically and at 90 degrees to the blades - in line with the guide - and apply some downward pressure but do not go mad.
@@adamzzz5061 I don't know. I have an electric charpener for my workshop and that works very well, but it removes a huge amount of metal from the blade, it's noisy and not something I want set up in my kitchen.
I was after a knife sharpener and come across the any sharp. I wanted to see it working and thought surely there wouldn’t be a RU-vid tutorial and you vid popped up😂 A very helpful video Thanks very much All the best 👍👏😉
When you use any sharpener of this type you will get a natural burr. If you are happy to deal with this you can finish with a "steel" Please do not use much pressure when performing this proceedure
Thanks for this video. Was looking at one of these in Asda today.... can i ask how hard you were pushing down please? It says’ draw only’ but it sounded like a decent amount of pressure... Was it knife weight only or was there pressure on the blade too?
Even proper stones get uneven with a lot of usage, at the price I would be happy if it lasted 2 months personally if I was using them day in day out personally
@@TranceHeed No, it happened on different knives, from cheap kitchen knives to expensive outdoor knives, I thought I must be using them wrong. Too much pressure, or unstable hand or other poor technique, but never got a good result. So I learned to use whetstones and a strop.
funny you should ask i was thinking of running my katana through it lol. proper high carbon steel katana bought from Ryan Sword forge of China, exellant katanas at great prices!
@@dannythomson5239 I have several katana and use a whetstone for them. Honestly a whetstone is the best for katana, I was scared to use one at first but they are easy to use. Get a high grit one around 8000 grit. There's many videos on RU-vid on how to use them properly. Good luck!
B4 watchin i was like, wat's the hammer for?!? 🤔 then OMG, ouch!!! bit like a slow chalk-board fingernail drag, but hey, at least u didn't start bashin' the cr*p out of 'em with it! 🔪⚒️🗡️ 🤣😂🤣
Crap tool, this will wear out the knife fast. Tormek T8 rules ! Once a knife is sharpened with T8 you just have to polish it on the honingwheel to get it razorsharp again. I only resharpen my kitchenknifes twice a year and in between just polish using the leather honingwheel. Anysharp may be good for camping.
I have tested it, luckily my cheap knives. It destroys the knives. It is absolutely not worth the money nor time. Version = AnySharp bought in a respected shop. Don't buy it.
Watching this makes me cringe.l used these in a job i had to sharpen realy cheap butcher type knives for cutting half inch thick slabs of rubber.Dont even think about putting an expensive knife of any kind near this thing,it will totaly destroy it.You have been warned😀
Knives are not to use to cut paper, Any cheap knife cuts the paper, cut vegetables, or chops the Italian flat parsley, and only after that, you can tell the truth of this little sharpener. truly I don't recommend it to anyone. After seeing many videos over the internet and on youtube I purchase a few days ago, doesn't work at all. no No no no Don't buy
Do you really have to show everyone how you open the package? Come on grow up now and stop this silly unboxing and unpacking. It's childish and ridiculously stupid. Have the thing ready to review and if you must show them the box then show them but don't stand there and waste time unpacking it.
Hey, thanks for the feedback. As you can see the packaging was plastic vacuum packing which would be damaged while opening it. I wanted to show the item in its original packaging so people knew what to expect when they have purchased it and also to show that it was a literal out of the box review.
