I have been using the SK2 essence for years and I believe that in order to get the full effect its essential to tap the SKII essence on to your face rather than wiping it like you mentioned. I understand your concern about radiation, but the sk2 factory is in southern Japan in comparison to the earthquake which occurred in the Northern area. Regardless, thank you for a great review, I think I would try the EL one since I have very dry skin

what i found from SKII products is that you need to build up your skin strength. I got break out from SKII products at the beginning but because I spent so much money on it, that I kept using it to finish (I know, weird right?). And after awhile, like half of the first bottle, my skin got so much better and so gorgeous. The following bottles, now I am using the LXP line, which has higher level of pitera, also at the beginning saw nothing, until I almost finish then I realized how much my skin has improved. I guess that is how SKII works. Many people in my country also reported the same thing.

Thuy Linh Duong I feel the same. Sk II brought out the breakout and after a month my skin started change. It's smoother and nicer. I tried to change to cheaper skincare from Korea which is dupe of SK II. it's called Secret Key and I ruined my skin then I go back to SK II. I will never change my skin care anymore. I love SK II

I find the SK II's Essence too drying for my skin. I am currently using the Estee Lauder Essence and it's my second bottle. I love it because I see a vast improvement in my skin tone and elasticity. I am concerned about the plastic bottle of SK II's essence; there could be chemical reactions. SK II does have bottles which are made of glass, so the question begs to be asked is: Why the difference and is there a tradeoff with using plastic bottles?

Hi Jen..grate video!! don't worry about the radiation for SKII.. radiation problems is happened in very far away city.. SKII is made in Kobe, it is safe.. after i watch your video last night i almost make up my mind to give a try on Hera.. but i will stay with SKII..

what I noticed about the SK-II essence is that mostly people who dont usually get breakouts, breakout from it. While for acne sufferers, it really doesnt do anything to your acne. The only difference I felt was when I first started incorporating their Treatment Clear Lotion into my skincare. I think it has to do with the AHAs in it.

I used a couple of samples of SK-II and I quite liked it. In a relevantly short time my skin felt smoother and my redness had gone down! Nothing magical, but quite nice. I'd buy it when I have the money. Many Japanese beauty "gurus" swear by it. At least with SK-II it's supposed to be applied AFTER toner. :)

EL Micro Essence sounds really good, I would buy it but I'm staying away from EL.. I've been debating between HERA and IOPE for the longest time because I really enjoyed both and they cost the same! And the dilemma continues...

i'm using Missha Time Revolution essence..xtra moist...and my acne prone skin feels great..getting clearer skin. I use em after cleansing and its been a week now and also it smells better than SK2.

I think it was from the earthquake a few years ago which caused the radiation plant to explode thus radiation escaped in the country. And sk2 is made in Japan.

For your Info, the SK II 75 ml is a glass bottle :) I have the travel size (that you have in there) and the 75ml size. I have acne prone skin and it works wonders for me, my mom is the one who introduced it to me. We loved it so much that we bought the man version for my dad :D I would like to try the HERA one but I don't think there are HERA stores in Jakarta (Indonesia)? Prolly have to order it online.. Hahaha! I always describe the smell of SKII water essence as the smell of white discharge. LOL!!! Gross I know but that's what it reminded me of. Have you ever tried Tony Moly's Intense galactomyces lite essence yet? Would like to know the review of it. I heard they said it's a dupe for SKII water essence.

Jen, have you tried the Iope Bio-Essence? Some say it's better than Hera and SK-II combined, but I've tried it multiple times and have always had to stop because I started breaking out! I wanted to switch to the Hera Cell Essence because your reviews on it are so positive and I love Hera products and how milky it looks ^_^ Does it contain fermented ingredients? Because that's what I think breaks me out with the Iope.

these particular products is not a regular essences, it a first essence it's more like a booster, so it should be use first after cleansing

Jenn, thanks for the review as always! I was in Korea last week and totally forgot to get the Hera cell essence although it was in my head for the past month or so. Fortunately I can buy it from China before I head back to the U.S. I hope I'll love it as much as or even more than my SKII essence since that stuff is just so damn expensive.

SK ll is one of the best skincare lines I've used. I'm. 47 with no wrinkles. What i find is that you will receive stellar results when using the line. It's annoying to hear women talk about wanting to glow. At 47 I can tell you glowing is not the goal..GREAT SKIN IS

I'm a bit confused and I'm sure most asian girls will understand.. There's this concept about SKII being so 'strong'/effective (or maybe it's just expensive haha) that it is only meant for slightly older girls (maybe like 25+?) I'm 19 and I'm just a bit worried about using something really good/strong and then all of a sudden if I decide to use something mild or less expensive, the effect won't show on my skin?? I hope you guys understand what I'm saying.. and if you do... any advice?? Thanks!! :)

I used SK-II Facial Treatment Essence for a year and stopped because of the expensive price. Then I've had moved on to Secret Key Starting Treatment Essence for another year. To be honest, when I didn't use the SK-II, I missed it so much because it does a miracle to my skin! Now, I am going back using SK-II and never been happier about my skin condition now! It is really miracle water!

Essence do not go before your toner as you mentioned in the video. That’s incorrect. Essence go AFTER your toner.

i've used skii essence for a while but i jumped to another brand with the same reason as yours i felt like it didnt give me anything anymore it make my face brighter (not my neck sadly) and more plump i didnt really help with fine lines and acne for me i'm trying hera now, but i think i'm goin back to sk ii if hera doesnt work out

Essence actually goes after! Toner is used to balance the ph on your skin (5.5 is the most optimum). So after balancing ur ph then u use your essence.

Nowadays in Korea many 'Essence' is actually a booster that you use before toner mainly to help with the absorption plus have tons of other claims. Booster(essence) > toner > serum/essence/ampoule> emulsion> eye cream > moisturizer. You noticed at third step I wrote essence again as many Korean products they uses word interchangeably. But Ofc, it depend on the company, booster can be use after the toner as well. As well as the texture of the product. :)

Can someone tell me what essences mean? And what serums are and what they do? I don't wear makeup or do anything to my skin. I don't even wash my face unless I am in the shower. ): I am sorry for this stupid question.

Like Jenn said, essences are used to help improve your skin's condition in the long run. It helps to brighten and smooth the skin as well as hydrate (not so much but it does have a hydration factor), help with wrinkles, help with pores, etc. Serums, from my understanding, are another added boost to help your skin. They target specific skin concerns; it's like a more amped up version of essence if you will. :)
