I like the modifications you suggested, particularly regarding the peg board. Most reviews mention that the included light is pretty weak. Just purchased mine and plan to assemble it next weekend. You've given me some good ideas for upgrades.
I just bought one of these because of the low price and all the positive reviews. If you really tighten all the screws and use lock tight, it is very stable and there is zero wobble. It is a remarkably strong bench and supports about 300 lbs of total weight on the three shelves. Assembly can be a bit awkward and frustrating unless you can recruit a second person.
Not unstable at all if you properly tighten the bolts and nuts. Maybe the earlier models were shaky but there are bolts and nuts around the perimeter of the peg board to tie it all together, but even before putting the board on it was pretty sturdy.
Make sure the bolts are tight . mine free stands adequately enough for my needs . if you want to strengthen the peg board structure you could bolt two lengths of metal strut at 45 degrees on each end of bench .( from the horizontal "bench" top to the vertical "peg board structure")
That's the only worry I had it being unstable, and just garbage. I'll probably just get 1 from home depot or something. I'll just be doing little stuff a golf clubs so.
I don’t know where all these complaints about the work bench not being stable? I just put mines together and it’s nice and solid. Dragged it around my garage3 times figuring we’re I should place it. Maybe tighten all the screws snug when you’re all done putting it together? 🤷🏽♂️ other then that for the price you can’t beat it.
I drilled holes straight through the board and attached that way. . My vise has 3 existing holes in the mounting plate that you can attach with to a surface with nut and bolt.
could you tell me the inside dimensions of the bottom shelf.....my local HF doesn't have a display and need to know how much space i have to play with down there..want to see how big of a tool chest i can fit underneath
