I thought I would never own another 2WD after getting the SC10... A year later I have the Blitz, Glamis Uno, 1/10 Hobby King basher buggy, and Arrma Vorteks. 2WD is challenging to drive but it's also very rewarding. You can't bash them at BMX jumps. But mild off road and street are awesome. I like 2WD platforms for more realistic handling characteristics. They also stay cleaner, especially with paddles. Tires and batteries last longer. Plus lightness is conducive to durability. One platform I have come to dislike over time is 4WD SCT... Replaced most of mine with 1/8 buggies.

I've always liked 2WD drive vehicles for almost the same reasons you do, they're just not always suited for bashing. RCs like the Raider, Stampede and Glamis are the exception though. I loved driving my Stampede 2WD off road and I even built my own Grave Digger, so 2WD is not foreign to me, it's just that I don't use it often.

Yeah I can see your frustration driving the truck, but all your issues are just from the fact that it is a 2WD short course truck. You do need to steer with your throttle finger as well as your steering wheel. I think if you weight the rear a little and add some toe out in the front you will see greater improvement in its drivability. Also, try turning down your punch on your ESC. Hope this helps!

You really are experiencing the "tendencies" of all 2wd sct's. Much less weight then a 4x4 with the same body. Also most of the weight is at the back. I use my pro-2 on track mostly and have added ballast to tune the ride..combined with suspension tuning you can have a nice jumping vehicle. I also have a pro-2 buggy, you will be happy with the lack of parachuting, but ultimately it is the same vehicle so it drives similarly. Great review, thanks for sharing.

In the end it is more the 2WD that you find less fun and I get it : 2WD is a pain to get even running straigh under power, let alone corner properly or fly leveled... but as often are hard things they tend to be more rewarding (yay to my first corner at a decent speed without going straight or spinning out) and it is teaching a lot. If you can drive a 2WD properly then 4WD is a breeze... the opposite, not so much as you realized. I went 4WD when I went 1/8 scale but never could get rid of the 2WD and still have tons of fun with them...oh and how much more easy is the maintenance...
@AussieRCPlayground
@AussieRCPlayground 9 лет назад
Yes, that's true. There is a sense of accomplishment when you can drive a 2WD correctly and beat your friends in the process. Haha

It is a great truck. Like you said it really is aimed at the racer market. I totally agree with your comment about it not really being a basher type vehicle. But as a semi basher/Race truck it is great. Probably a little over priced for what you get when compared to say the Team Accociated sc10.2, But a great truck none the less. Thumbs up from me :)

Great review as usual Vas. My first car last year was a cheap hobbyking 1/10th short course truck. Had alot of issues with it and decided to put some money into something better. And fell in love with the pro 2 buggy, it definitely eliminates the parachute effect. But still is hard to control on loose surfaces like the local bmx track and the dolamite did my head in haga. The quality and the hammering they can take (because lets be honest I'm no pro) is amazing. Like you the only problem I've had is the axle pop out once. Mine is now set up with sand paddles and is so much fun in the dunes, if you ever get the chance give that a go! Huge rooster tails whilst skipping across the sand is good fun.

Its nice to see your pro2 again. I'm currently waiting on a parma 71 muscle for my pro2. 😀

i agree with you, this ruck can be frustrating.. I think maybe on an indoor track, or if you converted it to the buggy it would be much more driveable, i converted my slash to this, it is really nice looking and durable but it does flip alot due to parachuting. the quality is very nice though.
@fondfarewell2
@fondfarewell2 8 лет назад
+Christopher no proper venting will not solve the problem. I run a flotec, and have every hole cut out plus more. I run 40 weight front 35 rear with all different springs tried. the truck out doors parachutes. unless it's perfectly still. no wind at all sure you can correct in the air, but it doesn't work well outdoor. setup helps but doesn't solve the problem.
@Spoogitywoogums
@Spoogitywoogums 9 лет назад
On the rear of the truck, you cut out one of the three air ducts. And that is easily what caused you to flip. Try the Evo SC body or just stick to the jconcepts BAJR, which is pretty much parachute proof.

Well said mate! This truck would do great at my local indoor and outdoor tracks :) but I ended up getting a losi for a price I couldnt resist! I have been using 3300 kv motors on my 2wd sct's and I find they have heaps of power, so you might be right about the overpower issue, at the end of the day I find 4wd more fun on my tracks but 2wd really teaches you how to control an rc imo. I really enjoy my 2wd sct's on groomed tracks, but wouldnt even bother bashing them, 4wd for bashing everyday of the week :)
@robbieracer3294
@robbieracer3294 9 лет назад
If you took this to a proper track, you'd probably like it more. This is definitely not made for large uneven bash jumps.

could decrease the parachute via something stuck into the nerf bars. make the chassis wider.

Hey Vas, surprised you didn't go with the Pro-MT I would have thought that would have suited you much better! Also you said it dipped below $300 at some point was that at tower? how much was it? I'm gonna keep my eyes opened for another sale if so!
@AussieRCPlayground
@AussieRCPlayground 9 лет назад
It dropped to $276 and I got a $40 discount on top of that, so I jumped on it. And yes, it was at Tower Hobbies. When I bought this truck the MT was not released, so that's why I got this one. The MT is a lot of fun as well, I have a friend that has one and I've driven it a few times, but I still find it hard to justify almost US$400 for a 2WD MT Kit. Like I said in this video, I only bough it because of the price, otherwise I don't think I would have.
@Norcopunk

This truck doesn't come with electrics, so the top speed is determined by the system you choose.

Running a 3500kv on 3S geared 35/69, this sc should run around 70+mph very easily. Running balanced traxxas sct tires and NO BODY.

Thank you very much for being honest with this and also for giving it a second chance as a buggy. And to add a 3rd option for you, there is also the Stadium Truck conversion as well. www.prolineracing.com/blog/2015/01/07/pro-line-racing-pro-mt-to-pro-st-stadium-truck-conversion/

Does'nt land well and isn't fun it's unbalanced LOSI is where it's at.. You are going sideways because of your aerodynamics... NEVER NEVER cut your windows out.. Need tru flow through the front to the rear not the sides

This is not a very good review in my opinion. This truck is not at all made for bashing. It is made for the track. That is where the review should take place.

+Broc Stroebel Perhaps you missed the part where I say this is from a basher’s prospective. Yes, I’m fully aware this is not a basher vehicle but I still wanted to give my view on it in case people got it thinking it was just a better 2WD Slash, which is a “go to” for many who want a cheap basher SCT.

+Ariel Garcia Actually, the ESC wasn't great, but it worked ok. The motor is a beast and has heaps of power. Not really much to complain about, to be honest. It's not the best combo, but not the worst either. It worked very well in this truck.
