Dusty was the man. I tend the break out the Dusty (as well as other wrestler's) voice regularly. Abdullah the Butcher and the Iron Sheik are actually my best - pretty good at Scott Hall and Macho too.
@@woodwwad Excellent choices for wrestlers. I would love to see you do a review of a Ravenloft module from Dungeon Magazine issue # 64 called The Last Dance. I think it is creepy and fun. Thanks. Keep up the good work. After your Walking Dead review, I am ready to run it for my friends. They should have a great time.
Hey Main Man, I'm a big fan of the channel for years now - i've been hoping you'd consider doing a video on how to run a Ravenloft Campaign. Having been a DM for decades at this point, I've always held off doing one, because the overpower of the Domain Lords seemed tough to make an interesting set of antagonists for the PC's.
Just picked this up. Looking forward to running it for a group of brand new players and get them hooked on immersion. The read aloud texts are masterclass.
Ya know… I forgot I gotta turn down my volume for the first few seconds of The Main Man’s videos… because god damnit this man roars like a lion with a passion for tabletop gaming!! Much loved much missed content, glad you’re posting again 🖤⚔️😎
The modern fantasy ideas of a long sword, or really swords in general are all over sold anyways. Swords were the personal defense items of the rich, for when they walked about cities, not because they were good, but because they were expensive. Sure their far better then num-chuks or whatever silly weapon you can think of, and it will do great dagger vs that unarmed peasant that thinks your a fool. But an Axe does more damage, likely has more reach, and is cheaper, a mace doesn't care what armor you wear cus it'll hurt like hell no matter what and smash your brains and ribs. Realistically if our cultures evolved slightly differently, we'd be thinking Maces and Warhammers as noble weapons, or Poleaxes and Great Axes, and War Axes, with metal hafts rather then wooden hafts. (A full metal design wouldn't change anything other then price realistically)
Spears were also a very commonly used weapon. But yes, swords (especially long swords) are so overused in RPGs. And it really is all D&Ds fault. All the other games just followed their lead. Another thing that drives me nuts is how ubiquitous scimitars are in fantasy games in areas of the game that, that sort of weapon would never have been made in.
@@woodwwad Yeah spears were used in battle fields, typically as things like Javlins, Lances, or Polearms, if we're talking medieval. Goedendag is basically a Mace and a Spear, cheap and mass produced even. This said the whole sword thing goes back before D&D, even if it carried it over as well, swords were the weapons of the nobles after all. Largely as a PDW, meanwhile your Pike, Lance, Poleaxe, etc, are Battlefield weapons, like comparing Rifles to Pistols. The fact swords get such high damage values is kinda crazy for D&D. Since slashing weapons are bad against armor, damage often (I'm betting everyone's dinged a knife cutting something before, with Modern High Carbine Steal). This said I did like how Conan 1d20 handle it, shame it's out of print and with 2d20 will never get a reprint.
