I like your idea about testing lower quality multimeters with the 1000v DC. I haven't yet shelled out the money for a quality one, although my dad has a professional fluke he brings home from work occasionally when we've got an important electrical project. Functionality wise it's easy to tell the difference between the two, but I've never had the means to test the safety of mine and certainly not his. They're apparently rated for the same voltages except mine has no cat3 rating. I will say though I previously had an even cheaper multimeter that I ruined testing voltage on my car battery with the probe in the wrong slot.. Oops! It had a 10amp fuse, but 380 amps melted parts before the fuse could properly activate. It really makes you appreciate those warning tones.

Thanks for two videos, in future I hope to presentation some other Japanese multimeters,kyoritsou-Hioki as alternative choise...

Refering to your statement at 19:57 and up: When i was testing some high voltages on my tube circuits I blew up a beckman BP3020 some years ago, as the input resistor ladder can´t handle the 1200V DC and simply explode, leave just a spot on the PCB....Nowadays i got a high voltage devider 1000:1 prior to the input just to protect the inputs of *any* measuring device, while doing serious voltage testings on tube amps ;)

Great show! I most like the battery test, as i now know it is doing well with 9V rechargeables. :)

brillant review as uasal,interesting additional extras that the basic meter lacks,and with advancing technology this accuracy should be the norm.Like the idea of being able to calibrate oneself,maintains an independant standard.

@6:30 They probably put the TrueRMS chip there to reuse the same main board on several models, which may or may not have TrueRMS, data logging etc. They're saving a dollar or about that much putting it there. Though not sure how much the traces and connector pins add to the circuit.. i guess everything can be calibrated through eeprom chip. @11:00 It's more likely to be a 4 Mhz clock... and that serial eeprom probably holds calibration data for the main chip. @12:30 springs are obviously for backlight as you see at @14:00. The chip is obviously display driver, you can see traces going to lcd zebra strip. Don't like the manual soldering of those wires from the jack board to main board but I guess they couldn't avoid it with this meter.

Nice review, Martin. Fuses are rated at 500V only. I think they should be rated at 1000V for a CAT II 1000V/CAT III 600V rating, to comply with the latest requirements. Otherwise a solid meter with most of the required features.

Hi , some time please make a review of Motwane M65 multimeter. its available in S.A. made in India product and very good quality .

Unfortunately, the meter is unavailable on the Amazon right now. It's interesting to see the differences with meters using the Brymen chipset. I have the ExTech 570A which is basically a Brymen and it is also a 50000/500000 count. It does not however have the nS measurement option which I'm curious as to whether that is a Brymen chipset function or did Sanwa add this as an additional function. I do however have my AlphaLab HR2 Electrometer which fills the gap for extremely high resistance measurements. Also on a quick note, How do you like the Mastech Insulation Tester? I have a 1K Extech and a 5K Uni-T. Both seem to work well! Have a nice day Martin, great video as always!

That seems to be a 4MHz crystal oscillator not 4KHz and the OPAMP is TL062 variant from JRC.

Hello friend, I want to buy a professional multimeter with high accuracy, high resolution, which one you prefer me to buy?? Brymen-BM867 , Brymen-BM869 or Sanwa PC7000. which one is most powerful and accurate??? Does Sanwa PC7000 use the same processor ,ic's and chip as the Brymen BM869???? Which one is powerful among these multimeters???? Which one you suggest me to buy????

the CEM DT-9919, seems to offer similar specs too, and is only 180$, not that i have heard of CEM
@Wytnucls
@Wytnucls 10 лет назад
AC bandwidth on the CEM DT-9919 is only 1kHz (20kHz for the Sanwa)and AFAIK has no PC connection.
@jusb1066
@jusb1066 10 лет назад
they offer other more sophisticated models too, such as the 9978 with bluetooth data logging, its hard to compare with all these features , ive never heard of CEM , i only found it when browsing for a seller who sold the Sanwa, and he also sold CEM, it seems there is competition in the professional/industrial multimeters as well as the low end hobby
@joey24698
@joey24698 Год назад
@@Wytnucls this doesn't either unless you spend additional $200, all they needed to was to put a $5 bluetooth chip in or usb port, but there is no mega profit in that!

I don't care for the multiboard construction. That's needless complexity and adds to the price. It should also have inductance and oscilloscope functionality for that price. It should also have a laptop lithium cell instead of ancient crude alkalines. that's mindless legacy design, symptomatic of the general technological stagnation of meters
@joey24698
@joey24698 Год назад
lithium on a DMM is a horrible idea, multiboard helps with transients, adds to price? based on the cost of this doesn't appear to have
@dancotton13
@dancotton13 5 месяцев назад
@@joey24698 Can you please elaborate that lithium on DMM problem please, I was wondering too why more manufacturers won't put li-ion on their DMM's like for ex. UT181A.

don't see why anyone who has the bonafide need for high resolution/accurate measurements would take chances and use sub-par equipment.. if you cant afford the entrance fee to the fluke/agilent club, maybe you really don't need that accuracy anyway? just my take on it.. then there's the service aspect.. how/where will warranty work be performed? sorry, there's a reason fluke costs a little (or a lot) more.. but when you need them to back their product up, you will appreciate that extra you paid.. i have found 2 different users... hobbyist and pros.. hobbyist cant/wont pay for accuracy.. pros cant/wont NOT pay for it...
@jusb1066
@jusb1066 10 лет назад
a little competition keeps fluke/aglilent on their toes, otherwise its like Internet explorer was or like it still is with graphing calculators

I don't have a problem with Fluke or Agilent, Own several of their products! I have found however by extensive testing that there are a few brands made in China which are relatively good and perform just as well as some of the top manufactures in the US and around the world. I recently had an experience with needing support from a China based company and with the exception of the time difference they did a phenomenal job with support and communications with me to fix a software problem. I received updates almost daily and they had the problem fixed within a week! To place a blanket statement on all test equipment outside of a few well named brands as being junk, well that is just plain ignorant! You have to take each one on a case by case basis and you will find that there are cheaper brands that can hold their own!
@joey24698
@joey24698 Год назад
fluke has failed to innovate for years now, competition is walking right by them, they are simply over-priced for what they are ask any Engineer ie; Kiss Analog on here
