You guys should hook up and make a documentary together. I can see James interviewing from the field with DIB narration in between while the train goes by. Oh, and don't forget the drone shots! Post it on both your channels, I'll watch them both. Of course you know, I am subbed to you both anyway. Cheers, Dan
I sent ScaleTrains an email recently, they plan to bring back the turbines for another run this 2019. According to their sold out stock, each run had updated numbers, and they only had units 1-30. It is a possibility that ScaleTrains is working on the 4500 HP and the Veranda.
You are pretty much the go to channel for reviews of HO scale motive power! Much like Eric's trains is for O gauge. I noticed that some of the other questions were asking if the middle unit was powered... which reminded me of an earlier comment or suggestion that I made... which is that the only thing that is missing in your reviews (and almost every one else's) is what is arguably the most important and least visible one... the underside of the locomotives! A huge amount of time is spent on details that are clearly apparent and little to none on what makes the different engines perform as they do... such as the number of powered axles and the use of traction tires (how many and where)? Just some thoughts that could improve your already important reviews. Also, you have questioned on occasion the fact that some of your tractive effort tests appear to not show the same full or highest level of tractive effort that other channels have gotten which could in a sense invalidate much of what you have done when compared with the other channels! It would be fairly easy to set up a test track with both the tracks you have been using and one of the more readily available moduler tracks with a wider footprint or railhead to see what changes that could make. I know because I have done it myself. Lastly, since you often have used smoke In your tests with steam locomotives... do you clean the rails prior to doing the tests... that would only take a few seconds to do. Your presence and personality are excellent and I mention these things because I and others including yourself) have mentioned them before. I think they might be of help and would make your channel without peer. From a 'real world' standpoint these considerations/parameters are among the most important (I say' that from the vantage point of a 39+ year retired locomotive engineer). Keep up the great work that you do and pray for our country and world and thanks again for your service! P.S.: By' the way...I think that your choice of track for your testing and layout is about as good as it gets! It's also the track that I have purchased and used in part, on a test track and will use, given the time and space for a layout, I hope!
Does the B unit have power? or does it just roll along behind the A unit as a dummy? my thought for 700+$ that B unit should have power along with the tender....
Hello James, Just a quick question I'm starting a new layout build this summer and I'm not sure what hight to go with how tall is your layout built too? and would you have gone taller if you could have?
Well, the Rivet Counter is 300 dollars less, and although it doesn't have the running turbine, it still has other features. Plus, it has better pulling power than the museum quality.
