Nice review Preston. If I may offer a comment intended as constructive feedback. I would have preferred if you tried the shoes on and provided some commentary as to the fit, construction and feel of the shoes on your feet. Just a thought...Ed
I'd also like to see the shoes tried on. I also have wide feet but no one to compare against in person. I'm mostly curious how the shoe gets stretched over the welt.
@@corpsiecorpsie_the_original from my experience with his shoes the width is influenced pretty significantly by the last shape. Their customer service is great though so they talked me through my purchase when I had concerns about fit.
i would like to see them on... just to see how they look. i dont care about fit so much since everyone has to different feet. fit and comfort will vary for everyone.
One trouble I have with JFitz is that the heel counter definition is not as good as Carmina. If you put them two together, it’s obvious how JFitz’s heel is wider than Carmina’s and the heel counter is more straight (i.e. less contour) than Carmina. I think that the shoe designs Justin is making really deserve a more elegant shape and heel.
I absolutely recommend J. Fitzpatrick shoes. I own three pair of JF shoes. Wedgewood Boot which I got off Massdrop, Tony II whole cuts, and Pike loafers. I love his designs as they are classic but creative. The quality is great and they have replaced my Allen Edmonds (still a fan of AE though).
Not only is your shoe knowledge top level, your video presentation skills are also second to none. Seems like you have studied film making or something. Great shoes. Very interested in their JF Line.
Your transition to reviews is awesome. I'm a fan of Justin, his brand and the way he thinks. I really want a pair of his Broadmoor. I gotta put some pennies aside. I plan to visit his shop as well. I'm only an hour away.
I've been browsing through Justin's blog multiple times and heard a lot of good things about his shoes over the course of the last two years - but your detailed and beautifully shot presentation really pushes me towards the "buy" button. ;) Greetings from Germany!
I'm glad you've done this review. I've followed him for a while and I really didn't want to buy shoes I couldn't see. I'm planning on buying some in the future, you really helped give confidence that they'll be good quality. Thank you, Preston.
Justin, I'm getting ready to buy those Tecovas I wrote about to you. Any thoughts on them? The J Fitzpatrick's are a nice shoe! It's excellent that he's also going to be building a lower priced but not lower quality shoe. I figure if you can spend $200 on a pair of trainers, you should be able to spend the same for good leather, especially if you're getting a well made shoe!
hey Preston I thought that Jason Dornstar was a cool dude but brother you bring the shoe game to another level! shine on brother you've earned a new fan in the big apple 🍎!!!!🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Now that's just crazy, I actually did my first dye job on a pair of Allen Edmonds I bought for around $40.00 on ebay a few weeks ago and I got them to a real nice oxblood red color like that though I think it turned out a shade or two darker. Granted they are not in the best shape in the world (let's just say I think the previous owner went from using bad shoe-trees to no shoe-trees) but they do look a lot better after I gave them some TLC and I've gotten quite a few compliments even with the limited exposure. Thank you so much for your amazing videos, they really helped me figure out what I was doing and it is a certainty that the project would not have turned out as well as it did without them.
@@ubiquitouspanda4466 Yeah, avoid shoe trees with a narrow heel, it focuses too much of the pressure on too small an area. It's still better than no shoe trees, but it is not good.
I been wanting to buy a preowned pair of the Allen Edmonds pair of shoes. Is there any recommendations of things to look for when buying pre owened shoes 👞. Also what do I need to know when getting them resoled if needed.
Thanks for the video and your commitment to continuous improvement. When describing the sole you use the word gimping, but I believe the correct term is fudging. Keep up the great work, and I look forward to your next video.
I been trying to get black saphir shoe cream, I just dyed my shoes, which one is the best to apply arter the dye? Thanks in advance. Good job as always, my friend.
Not dumb - wondered the same thing. It is called straight lacing and basically once you put the lace across the bottom as you normally would and even out the laces, you take the lace up the inside of the shoe and out a skipped eyelet. Hard to write but certainly the Men's Gazette has a decent piece with pictures to illustrate how you skip up two holes before taking the lace straight across. I admit I've never used the method - my work boots use an Israeli commando lace which I endeavour never to untie as I wouldn't have a clue how to pull it all back through correctly 😂 side zips for the win.
Can you do a comparison video between these and TLB Mallorca Artista 110? I'd love to see your pick, and it would help me decide on my next purchase 🙏. Thanks for your favorable response. Love your channel!
Great review! As someone with eee width feet, seeing reviews of shoes that don't fit me are always a personal disappointment: however, this shoe may fit me according to the website's description of this show's last.
Great review! I need to check out his line! I have 3E feet too so I’m excited he has a last that will fit. Oh my son emailed you. He would like you to darken and burnish his shoes. Thank you!
Hi Preston. I love your videos. I would love for you to do another review for shoes that send you even after two months so we know more about what to expect from any company.
Excellent review and great looking shoe. I”m attempting to pull the trigger on a pair of boots now. My hesitation? $250 extra for having them made in my size! Your review helped move me along a bit!
I am glad you were able to find a shoemaker that caters to your width needs. In terms of the overall length of the shoe, did the shoes fit exactly like the AE's or do you think dropping a half size would have been a closer fit?
sir i had my first leather shoes pair and one of them ended with a large masterd oil stain it turned black it seamed as it got some sort of oil vapours i dont know how to remove the oil stain from it this pair means allot to me plz sir help me with my problem
Really nice video set up. But in the end, after it all, hows the fit? great, average etc? Also, you mentioned Carmina a few times, should I deduce JF trained there as well?
Hey, Lenny. The shoes fit great. The video was filmed across a few days and I had the chance to put the shoes on my feet before the video was done. I made sure to mention the shoes don’t dig into my heels since the leather is soft and maleable. Justin apprenticed under the late Stefano Bemer, who is Italian and then worked with Tony Gaziano of England. I mentioned Carmina because they are the best company to compare J Fitzpatrick to in terms of quality.
Aaah awesome! Great to hear the fit did them justice. Heel counter issues in shoes are not common for me, maybe that’s why I missed it, thanks for clarifying! It’s great he was trained by such of the most well known names in the game, thanks for this!!
Hi, Preston. How do you size the J. Fitzpatrick LPB last compared to the AE 65 last? I have a pair of the J.Fitzptrick Broadmoor. Normally a MTO shoe but I bought them at a sample sale. My version of the Broadmoor is size 10.5 EE (US) on the TMG last. I figure if you can wear the LPB last then maybe I can.
These would look amazing with navy trousers. I’m checking the site for last information. The website pairs them with navy seersucker and the contrast is striking.
A shoe snob? Fck, I couldn't imagine a more tedious friend or conversation than someone picking apart details on my fcking shoes. Lol, I've sold into Fortune 500 and 100 companies. Nobody gives a flying fck about how nice your shoes are, and nothing about the shoes I wear has ever been a barrier to success at work or with women. Now if I was under 6 feet I guess every little bit counts, but holy crap that life would just be painful...
It’s ironic because the word brogue is used when the shoe clearly has no brogues. Calling them a “plain” brogue is oxymoronic. I’d hardly call that an exact description.
Here’s the exact definition: “the expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect” Using the word “brogue” to describe a shoe without brogues fits that exact definition. Adding the word austere or plain actually serves to emphasize it.
