Weird, obviously very biased number 1 pick. The Head Speed MP is a great racket, but putting it first on a list of control rackets just doesn't make sense at all. Even within all the Head rackets, it's probably the worst series, if you're looking for control. You got the Prestige as the most obvious contender for top control racket, but even the Gravity and the Radical offer more control. Such a shame for an otherwise decent list.

Exactly. This channel has lost all credibility for me.

Daniel, think we have differing definitions of "control". We see it as the impact the racket has on the player not on the ball. So, a Speed makes it easy to control your game, providing consistent, expected feedback. You get out what you put in. The rackets you suggested we would classify as more "precision" based frames as they enable you to control the ball better, but not necessarily in an expected or easy manner. An interesting conversation for sure. Thanks for the comment! B

Lol, yeah, the Speed is now called a control racquet, why not? I guess you would pick it as #1 power racquet, #1 comfort racquet and #1 spin racquet as well.

It is a great all rounder. A racket that enables you to do anything, based on what you are asking it to do means you can play "in control". The racket isn't exaggerating or minimising your inputs. Enabling you to stay "in control" of what is happening. Just a difference of definition.

@@ph-tennis Did you apply the same measurement in the other "control" frames? Imagine a Pure Aero enabling you to put so much pressure on your opponents that only short crap comes back to you. So that very PA enables you to control the rallies. Does that make a Pure Aero a control racquet? So you see how bigot your verdict is?

Speed MP. Stormtrooper colour theme. My favourite as well.

Blade V9 98 16x19 on the one please! Speed is not a control racket.

Hmmm... Speed MP as number one and a Gravity Pro not even on the list? I'm not too sure about that!

AJ, What else would you have in your list?

@@ph-tennis I've only tried so many control rackets to be honest, but I have owned a 2024 Speed MP and currently own an Auxetic Gravity Pro. I appreciate that different people may have different interpretations of what control is, but the Gravity Pro is so control-orientated that the control along with it's weight and mass makes it an incredible racket to attack with and do what you want without fear of missing. It's extremely confidence inducing if you gel with it. I think the stability and 18x20 string pattern makes it without a doubt a better racket for control. With the Speed MP I wouldn't be able to do what I do with the Gravity Pro against big hitters as the stability would be lacking, so I would factor that in as well. If the Speed was to be number one it would at least have to be the Pro 😁 I respect the difference of opinion though. Really like the channel! 🙂

Perhaps rename the title to "My Top 5 Rackets" - as really this list is not control focused. Good rackets however but ones that suit you're game.

Dear oh dear. Speed as the #1 😂 . No doubt it’s a great racket. But surely an open 16/19 100” disqualifies it from the control category? I guess this whole ‘modern control’ has become a grey area. Would have thought it was speed>radical>gravity>prestige? Personally having fun adding weight to the Prestige MP L to try and find max combo of control and forgiveness. At 340g(!) now and it still feels ridiculously manoeuvrable. Bizarre.

Percept 100D over 100 any day! Pro Staff has way more control than the Blade for me, also find more control with the Speed Pro than Speed MP.

After going to your online shop , I understand why dunlop tennis racquets are not shown and that's because your store did not sell them at that point of my last visit . The pure strike 97 is pure precision in 2024 .

Hi Ben, Ben here, thanks for your review, always interesting 😊 I just bought the Gravity MP after testing a bunch of the Head offerings, incl. the Speed. I really wanted to like the Speed the most, but I found the swingweight just made it difficult to use unless I'm having my best day. Perhaps I just don't play often enough, but the Gravity just produced the best results so no matter what I "wanted" to like, objectively there was only one choice. Massive sweetspot! Bring on the mishit winners 😂

do remember that the actual swing weight is often not the same as advertised. the swing weight can be 10 points lower or higher in your racquet compared to what the average or spec of the racquet should be.

Hi, have you tried the Wilson Blade 98S(pin) with 18/16 string pattern? Do you have an Opinion especially in comparison to the normal 98 and the 100? THX

Not a huge fan, just never gelled with the Gravity range. No doubt they are great rackets but not for me.
