In today's video, we're going to be reviewing DarkWalker ShotPad
and seeing if it holds up to its advertised promises, it comes equipped with a large touchpad for your mouse input and plenty of buttons for your keyboard input. this controller is mainly advertised for first-person shooters so that's what I mainly focused on in this video, I got to say this device was pretty fun to use and everyone should definitely check it out.

this is so neat, ive always digged these homemade touchpad controllers from other youtubers back then and seeing one more fleshed out like this today is a nice refresh, i also always had the wish of a more layback way to play competitive fps with a controller with better aiming but still the touchpad isn't as good as i thought. So I found another way to do it thats still pretty underestimated which is controllers with motion controls, ive never returned to the keyboard to play games since then

Looks pretty cool, the layout has me thinking it would be pretty useful for "rail" shooting games like Rez, Sin & Punishment or Panzer Dragoon

wow amazing review. very thorough. I bought the new wireless version, and i can't find any review on it .. I'm curious on how it performs using gyro.. I'd love to see you review it so I'm subscribing. I bought mine because i use my mini pc as a console hooked on a tv. Using mouse and keyboard is just too messy and unpractical for me. I also found myself avoiding many games i always wanted to play simply because they lack full controller support, I'm glad to know you think it's great for this purpose.

Mobile gamers will love this controller for sure. It's literally bringing mobile fps controls to PC (but you get physical buttons and left analog). Which in my opinion is way better for aiming than a regular controller (worse than kb&m obvi). I've always wondered why no one replaced right analog stick for a touchpad yet. I think it was about time someone did this, but it needs improvement for sure. This also needs to become a standard for consoles imo. This is the next step for console controllers that should've happened years ago.

how feasable is quick turning to a flank with touchpad controls? this seems appealing after trying aiming in mobile games, though the range of motion seems to be more precise with this controller

Trackpad is similar to touch screen. I use to play a lot of mobile FPS games with no bots. One example of a game with all players and no bots is Standoff 2. Its pretty much Counter Strike. Touch screen/touchpad is great. I prefer it over a normal controller any day but thats probably because I use to be a hardcore mobile gamer.

I really want to use the trackpad as arrow keys to play Muhshihimesama (and other shmups) because trackpad is the most precise input I have ever tried for Shmups (Danmaku Unlimited II on my mobile phone)

The function key should be moved behind as a back button, so your thumbs don't have to move in a pinch.

I used to be pro player in Apex Legends Mobile and i would absolutly beam even with aa turned off. I got good at M&K, BUT i belive my peak is in my finger and i think i'll enjoy it a lot.

I have a question about this if someone that has the controller might be able to answer. I got some nerve damage in my right arm that makes using my thumb on right hand painful at times. I see usually touchpad was using the thumb but what I want to know it would work with a finger such as my index or middle finger? If so this might help me with some of the pain I get from playing extended periods of time.

I need this. I actually use a controller for call of duty mobile the ones that latch on the side of your phone like a switch vibe but when I aim I actually use the touch screen instead of the analog stick and this is really smart I hope they make one for android. It's better than aiming with an analog stick. But for now, touch screen aiming is also great. I use the buttons only for walking reload etc. But for aiming it's the touch screen. Edit: the best controller though is still a mouse for recoil a controller sucks. But this game pad i can work with.

Really wish someone would come out with a HIGH END x box style controller with a GOOD QUALITY touch pad... im 45... I stopped gaming for 20 years because I just never could get the precision I wanted with a joystick... my son begged me to play call of duty mobile with him on my Samsung galaxy tab s7+... after a cpuple of months... he stopped playing with me... I got all the kills.... then he switched to a controller... and we still play at the same level even though he can use multiple buttons at the same time and im limited to 2 thumbs... joysticks just suck in my opinion... and the reaction time and precision with my touch screen are much faster and more intuitive... specially for us old school gamers from the Nintendo era😂 we didn't grow up with pressure sensitive joysticks... and many of us just aren't able to adapt well to them

It's only compatible with a small handful of games on Xbox Series. Let me know if it works for RE4R. I'm trying to hook it up to my Cronus zen to play games that are not compatible

@@ramonaltamirano340 I got it but ended up sending it back, it works well but the aiming was kind of hard cause the sensitivity on it wasn't the best. But then again I only messed with it for so long.

I have carpal tunnel in both my wrists cause of the kind of work I did for so many years and my hands get numb, it's hard to control the thumb stick on modern controllers unfortunately, so thought this controller would be good. It is a fantastic controller, it automatically set itself up as soon as I plugged it in, and would normally work well for those with issues in their right hand I think, those that can't effectively control a computer mouse to aim, I hope one day they come out with a backwards version, with the buttons on the right and the control pad on the left.

This is a very very niche usecase but this controller would probably be really good for emulating Kid Icarus Uprising, it's layout seems perfect for it, and way more comfortable than playing on an actual 3DS.

I love this controller and the new wireless version. It's great for games that don't have game patch support especially older PC games, which is why I use it the most, and to navigate windows without a keyboard and mouse. I originally use the steam controller, but I have problems with it on windows because for some reason games that had support had no problems with it, but older games that didn't had suport made the steam controller freaked out and didn't registered it however, on Linux, I don't have this problem for some reason.

So I'm actually currently working on the steam controller video The reason why it doesn't work well in Windows is because it uses multiple inputs at once so windows wants to recognize the mouse input but also recognizes the Xbox input and it freaks it out. Versus the dark walker that is just a keyboard and mouse

you can use this easy with some "twin stick" shooter for PC that doesn't support controllers, starbound, terraria, gunscape, postal, monaco, hotline miami, you could barely tell the difference if those game support only keyboard or have some controller support, on the other hand, I get a bit of a whiplash after returning to assassin's creed seeing how different keyboard users have a different experience from gamepad users, I first play black flag in xbox and barely played any other games on PC, I had AC Unity and Sindicate sitting on my library, playing them both back-to-back with a bluetooth controller and using the shotpad (and watch dogs 2 for good measure) it genuenly left me awestruck for a moment how much the exact same game is different depending on the keyboard or gamepad you're using

There's also an app that you can download, that's for touchpad devices and it allows you to tune it more precise but I didn't find this out till after I made the video

Maybe because Steam Controller is expensive right now, it doesn't work on consoles without additional hardware like Chronus Max Plus and apparently has some issues with old Keyboard & Mouse Windows games. So there are circumstances where this controller may be a better fit.

@@Ignitablecub hello,does double tapping on the touch pad counts as a left click?to me that seems like the most comfortable way to play fps games,track with the touchpad and double tap to shoot.i hope it does but if it doesn't I'd have to go with the flydigi apex 2 which has motion control.
