This great. I've been binging CGB/Rarran/Cimo collabs for a bit now and I've grown really found of these dudes. I can't afford to play any of the card games I used to love anymore so this stuff is the way I get to enjoy HS and Magic....while learning about Yugioh.

Them discussing the Black overlord made me realize that Impending removes a counter on *end step*. So it can't attack right away once the last counter is removed, and it has to survive an opponent's turn.

I did an empirical data regression to calculate the average mana values of various traits, lifelink included! It's typically ~0.4 to 0.5 mana value, increasing with how much power the creature has a slight amount.

I find it endlessly funny when Rarran goes hard on "Disneyland" arguments, cause what he does or does not consider Disneyland arguments for mtg is only about being halfway accurate in both directions lol. Like, not even necessarily that his final assessment is off for those cards, just what he thinks counts or doesnt count as "Disneyland" haha. Also side note but the similar term that was used historically when talking about these things was "magical Christmas land." Disneyland is definitely a much cleaner term for it haha

To answer Rarran's questions about The Mindskinner, there are no cards in current Standard that silences its abilities that I can think of. In older formats however there are a bunch of cards that say "damage can't be prevented this turn", so hypothetically you could swing in for 10 unblockable and play Stomp or Wild Slash or something at instant speed and they would take 10.

Fun fact about marven: his rules-text does apply while he is in hand, not just the battlefield, and this does mean that if you have a creature in play with ninjutsu, you can ninjustsu the murderous mimic into play. This combo may be bad, but it's also very funny

CGB didn’t mention this but theirs already a similar card to Marvin in standard called Agatha’s soul cauldron, but it’s just an artifact and can give activated abilities to other creatures on your board, which is much better then Marvin in most cases

I know it’s from a Standard perspective and Rarran hasn’t seen a lot of other Magic cards throughout history, but all of the Glimmers and some other cards like the Leylines just have the same effects of cards with similar mana values or the same. I.e. see Enduring Curiosity and Coastal Piracy or Enduring Innocence and Welcoming Vampire

I think Hauntwoods shrieker is good because if there is any 1 or 2 mana cards that manifest dread you can immediately flip it when shrieker enters

screaming nemesis is really interesting i wonder how many times someone will play this and not attack with it, like if you are playing from behind against tokens or small dudes and drop this, it is a mean blocker, any minion that can be blocked by it without killing can make this a 2 for 1 or better and you can always hit it with a instant before it dies to triger the effect of no healing if it is relevant, also we can always dream of taking the rollercoster to disneyland with two of these on the board, just lightning bolt one into the other for 24 damage to the dome or a shock for 16

Reluctant Role Model is definitely going in my old Mount deck. Lots of tapping, lots of counters, this could be fun.

Zimone triggers turn 3. It doesn't care when the land entered. You can play the land then play Zimone and you'll get the fractal on your end step.

All I can say is I'm going to play a Dollmaker's Shop... deck. Duskmourn seems so fun as a standalone set in the first place.

What Rarran's missing is that for Shrieker to be good you have to fill your deck with expensive bombs which isn't going to make for a very good deck. Ramp could definitely change the analysis, not just to get it out early but to have 5 mana on turn 4 when this attacks to play something and removal.

The cool thing with hauntwood is that you can cheat out any creature even if it is not mono green.

Screaming Nemesis with delirium, spell does 2, doubles due to delirium to 4, redirects to face, doubles again to 8 Lets not forget all the enchantment creatures in the set that count as 2 card types for delirium.

Doomsday excruciator doesn't look so bad. You could just splash blue with some kind of two-color land and bring out jayce on turn 5. If they don't kill it that turn they lose to excruciator. There are also other purely black cards that can make your opponent draw in current standard, which would be enough to win even if you don't get jayce out.

Excruciator is really going to live up to its name when you drop it in a casual commander game.

Putting 4 of these in the fling deck will create turn 2 kills and also increase the likelihood of a turn 3 kill but I don't think it'll be as meta-defining as CGB thinks... The solution is still the same, blowing out the pump spells w/ spot removal and they're adding new spot removal as well...

leyline of resonance is good for non-mono red cause if your opponent has it in their opening hand you can just concede right away and not have to play against mono red

Okay, hear me out. Zimone's Token being a legendary, while it won't flood the board, it gives you an attacker for free that you don't mind trading off because it is going to come back on endstep BIGGER. I actually think the token being legendary is fine??

Screaming nemesis allows you to double your burn spells if you have the leyline in play? (Assuming it survives the first resolution ofc.)

The Minskinner is 100percent a horrible card that I will play in every single blue deck until the end of time.

Enduring innocence is also good for pioneer as a draw engine you can gey from collected company which is nice idk if that makes coco decks good but its an idea

Doomsday Excruciator is busted. Just put it in your mono-blue Omniscience/Mindskinner deck. It's perfect. /s

Screaming Nemesis is kind of slow, and decks that don't care about life gain don't care about it. Most mono red creatures are KOS already, this isn't any less so, a Get Lost or Go for the Throat will take it out, a blocker will make it into a 3 mana bolt for those decks that aren't gaining life. How much life are you going to lose off of this that it's scarier than Manifold Mouse or something similar? Shrieker is just a 3/3 for 3, no haste. So even if you play it turn 2, it doesn't swing till turn 4, where you pay 2 to try and play slots when you could already just make a 5 mana play. You've seen Heaped Harvest, a 3 mana card that ramps 2, when would you play this over that? Remember that the manifest 1. can't be a land or non-creature spell 2. can't be a cheap card (like the 1 mana ramp or another copy of this) 3. won't trigger its enter the battlefield effect. Otherwise, you just get a 2/2 with summoning sickness and they block the Shrieker for no value.

All the cards in the turn 2 red kill are replaceable. Scamp sacrifices itself. Scamp plus two pumps is lethal. Hero, pump, Sell-sword is lethal. Scamp, pump, Sell-sword

mono red has bigger than a 5/5 on turn 2 in a commons and uncommon deck, and here blue wants to sell us a rare (!) 5/5 on turn 7…. like don’t waste money on this. …. wait is it a mythic?!

I think overlord is decent. Not too strong but not too weak. Might see token play but nothing meta relevant. Mindskinner is Draftender, Rarra-Kitty is good i think. Come back wrong im buffled that this is a sorcery and doesnt give the creture haste. Otherwise it would be really strong. The rollercrusher ride might be the first good red x-spell since fireball. Kaito im not even buying since he will get banned in every format. Getting emblems with his +1 is riddiculous. Also... wait, ballon man can copy the Overlords and turn it into a creature with haste... Rarran is right, he is actually really good.
