They were hideous in my opinion and she didn’t even pick the outfits like she said she’s a victim it’s not her fault what were they thinking? Poor girl like damn 💀
I've just recently learned that 2000s fashion aesthetic isn't actually called Y2K, the actual name is Mcbling. Y2K is about digital, futurism in fashion, it is a form of expression and an idea of what people in the 2000s thought fashion would look like. Mcbling is the 2000s fashion such as Juicy couture, Paris Hilton & etc.
I generally hate when people wear Asian clothes or clothing with Asian characters and not know that culture it is/ don’t know that the language is. 🧍♀️
@ kendracampos8201 She had real nice outfits during season 1-2 of That’s So Raven. By season 4, the outfits they put her in, were quite tacky and cringy.
Yeah I didn’t like them. I wonder if she even liked those outfits or her stylists forced her to wear them. Looking back, most of the fashion trends seen in teen magazines and movies were cringy. Like wearing 3 layers of shirts and denim skirts with bright pink leggings🙄.
Also I know that technically the fashion talked about in this video is “mcbling” but because most people know it as “y2k” that’s what I used hope y'all like this new content :) still gonna make my usual kind but i wanna incorporate alot more talking videos!! also crying real tears cause i just got monetized on here! couldn't have done it without ur support and thanks for supporting a broke college student lol
I HATE THEM NOT JUST LOW RISE JEANS BUT LOW RISE ANYTHING LIKE WHEN I SEE IT I SHIVER AND LOOK AWAY ISTG IF THE TREND COMES BACK I WILL NEVER LEAVE MY HOUSE EVER
i'm literally incapable of forming an opinion on y2k fashion. like my gut reaction is always a big no bc, as someone who was never skinny, low rise jeans will forever haunt me, but the more I look at it the more I'm compelled to like it, and the nostalgia definetely adds to it. like miniskirts are just the best look, there's no denying it
I think it's offensive that Hilary referred to it as a "Chinese kimono" when kimonos are Japanese, but she was a young teen and likely didn't dress herself so I can't fault her too much when a stylist probably told her that. I'm more concerned about a teenager showing so much boob tbh. Hair chopsticks seems to be a more Western thing born from traditional long hair pins/ornaments often found in Asian fashion and traditional styles but it's not like chopsticks have some kind of special meaning that makes it disrespectful to use them as a hair ornament. From what I know Japanese people LOVE sharing their culture. In Japan you can pay to have people dress you up in a kimono with the proper footwear, style your hair, and provide traditional accessories that you can walk around in. Kimonos are not seen as particularly special or sacred compared to, say, indigenous peoples' headdresses. Plus qi and wa lolita are purposeful blends of Chinese or Japanese clothing with Western clothing. These are made by Chinese and Japanese companies and sold worldwide. While there is definitely respect for traditional clothing, the Japanese and to a lesser extent the Chinese don't mind blending. (I say China is to a lesser extent because the CCP can be overly controlling when it comes to tradition.).
Honestly I'm wondering who picked the outfits for those girls and thought it looked good 💀 Edit: Now watching most of the video some of them aren't that bad tbh
It's funny how when those trends are coming back in style now we start feeling like those looks were not that bad while when we looked at them just a couple years ago we cringed.
Growing up i hated Y2K fashion because it was incredibly uncomfortable to me, especially the jeans, i felt out of place and felt i couldn't develop an identity, at least when we are talking about the popular stuff, i'm honestly really glad the trend os old comfy clothes came back because i honestly wouldn't know what to do if i can't find ANYTHING comfortable for my body around the stores
@@katc2040 I remember wanting to wear that so bad when I was like in 3rd grade but my mom wouldn’t let me...She saved me from future second hand embarrassment 😂
@@destinyclark4133 Was born 95 and you can pinpoint the time where i decided to dress myself for school pictures 🤣 I have one were i wear pants under a dress and wear a headscarf 🙈🙈🙈
Maybe i just havent looked at red carpet pictures in a while but it’s strikes me that everyone was very smiley, happy to be there, and now the style is more about looking all serious and posing like a fashion model.
i wished everybody in this generation would learn the difference between y2k (late 90s futuristic fashion) and mcbling (literally all the fashion in this video) fashion
I looked back at what I was wearing in the 2000’s and cringed. Even the 2010’s fashion was terrible. Also Raven Symone NEVER missed a beat. I wanted to look like her when I was a kid.
all of the outfits especially Ashley's outfits were iconic. Ashley was my favorite actress growing up she's the reason I loved 2000s trends and clothes
I remember being younger and hating shopping for jeans because it was so hard to find ones that weren’t low rise and as a chubby girl that was not a look 😭 plus they were so uncomfortable!
RAVENS FLORAL GOWN I’m dyyying I love that look sooo much gives me like renaissance vibes but like make it 2003 and I’m so I loooove with it she looks AMAZING 😍😍
I remember that during the early 2000's I (a kid at the time) would look at old pictures from my family and be like "eeew, high-waisted jeans are so ridiculous! Why was everybody wearing them?" Nowadays I, like any sensible person, would never even _touch_ a pair of low-waisted jeans
The best thing about y2k is that there wasn’t too much pressure into looking perfect like today. The make up was very simple, I remember how chilled the awards clothing were. It was really nice to be alive back then, I remember people looked real in the screens. Their skin had flaws, sweat, lines, texture... You guys have no idea how things were different back then without the whole internet judging you like today. I loved the heads up for wearing a mask at the end of the video, respect ☺️
*Ashley's piano purse reminds me of those Hannah Montana guitar shaped bags that I wanted when I was 11 and 12. I only really want the bag to put my DS in it 😝*
The mini keyboard purse look literally made me feel something when I was a kid😩 I started wearing sequin skirts over jeans to the dAmn grocery store !!
I just realized that Ashley's fashion reflected very much the characters she used to play at the time. Early 2000's was very Zack & Cody's Maddie, and mid to late 2000's started being more HSM's Sharpay.
I used to want to dress like Raven so bad. I loved her fashion during the Thats So Raven days. I looked a mess at 10 years old trying to dress like her but she definitely did that.
I remember 5 years ago or so I told my brother: In fashion everything comes back, except for the 2000s trends, which are the worst in history. Guess I underestimated the nostalgia.
OMG when you said “sisterhood of the travelling pants” I thought for a second you meant this was an outfit she wore to the airport because that bag looks like luggage😂😂
after watching Modern Gurlz take on how certain Y2K fashion will come back, I was so excited to see this!! im here for the stripes and sequins, not so much into the low-rise pants but on these girlies it is ICONIC 👖
I’m sooo glad I’m not a teen now or then, like when I was a teen 60’s & 90’s fashion was the thing &, even though it was only a few years ago, I can look back at pictures of me in high school & know I was killing it. High wasted wide leg pants, flannels, croptops, creepers, chokers, middle part with wavy long hair, ughhhhh I was serving. I know my kids will look at those pictures and be like “damn mom was (new slang for sick)”😩😩😩😩😫😫
The vibe then seemed more that they were kids on the red carpet (they’re under 18) and could experiment and try fun things and it wasn’t a big deal Which is how it should be IMO.
