I reviewed the Echelon ex-prime smart connect fitness bike that I got off of Amazon for $500. I use it with Peloton classes and love it! I also show you how I connect to the bike with my phone to get the stats you need to ride with Peloton. Let me know if you have any additional questions about the bike!

I've been debating on getting this Echelon bike since I can't afford a Peloton and after seeing your videos I just ordered it from Walmart! Your videos make me so excited to try the Peloton classes and I haven't been to a spin class since last March so I've been itching to hop on a spin bike!

In order to get a better calorie calculation you have to go in your profile and make sure that you set up your height age and weights properly and you will not have issues with that anymore.

Hi, I think you should call them. A) I always get the data recorded by day and month (under progress icon on the echelon app) everytime I finish my workouts; Also there's a part on the app that you can also have it recorded on an email (go to email preferences on the echelon app and select after ride. B) The calorie burn doesn't seem normal. On a 30 min ride yesterday I burned 208 Calories. So I would encourage you to check with them or re install the app. ( btw, I don't pay for the echelon app).

this is super interesting! Did you ever pay for the echelon app or do the free trial? Also do you have the ex-prime smart connect bike or the walmart $500 bike? I wonder if you have a higher tier echelon if these aren't problems.

The calorie problem is because I believe since you don’t have the subscription your age, weight and height stats won’t be taken into consideration. I ride echelon and it runs in line with my Apple Watch heart rate and calories. Since the bike is meant for their app and it’s not being used correctly their numbers of course will be off. Saving money might be worth losing that function and just sticking with whatever watch you use says. Happy riding🖤

yeah that's what I figured, seems a little odd that they must assume very heavy statistics (as I don't even know who would be able to burn 3k calories from biking an hour). It's okay though, I just take my apple watch calories as the source of truth instead.

I'm really sorry to bother you but I know you know the answer, and I can't find it anywhere on the internet. I FINALLY have the bike going, and the app (which was quite a problem), so I am using free trials on Apple Fitness+ and Peloton. Works fine with the freestyle ride but I can't figure out how to stop the freestyle ride. It just runs, and runs, and runs. I have hit everything on the screen, tried swiping and the thing doesn't stop short of turning off my iPad. Thanks for all your help. I know in a few weeks I will look back on all this and laugh, but oh the frustration!

no problem!! I click on the screen when the freestyle ride is going, and on the top a grey bar should appear with workout written in the center. top left there is an error which just exits out of the ride then once you hit it and brings you back to the more tab of the app. Hope that helps!!

I have been following you as I like your Peloton videos, but I can't afford a Peloton, but I found this one and was looking for reviews, and see that you like it, so I am thinking I might actually want to get it. I have an exercise bike, and you can't stand up on it because of where the petals are, so I want a 'real' cycling bike.

Definitely the first week I felt sore but I think it’s because I wasn’t used to cycling! Since then I’ve had no issues with uncomfortable soreness and don’t wear any extra padding

I purchased the Echelon Connect Sport from Walmart 3 weeks ago for $499 which included a 3 month subscription of the EcholonFit app. I also purchased a bluetooth chest heart monitor @ $25, a disco light @ $13 from Amazon. I wanted the true spin class experience. 🚴‍♀️ I don't miss having a monitor because I cast my Echelon/Peleton app to my 55 in. tv screen. EchelonFit app caveats: Free style mode shows heart rate data, however it doesn't save it in the progress report. Used scenic ride mode, avg heart rate data saved was not correct. Overall I love the sturdiness of the bike, the quiet ride, and feel that I received a good return on my investment. 😊

Love the disco light!! Such a good idea! Interesting that it doesn't save heart rate data in free style mode. I think I get a month free trial of Echelon so I've been meaning to give it a go. Love my bike too, I agree that it's very sturdy and a great purchase!!

I just wear generic adidas sneakers, but if you get spd pedals to install, I use the brand Giro cycling shoes for the actual Peloton!

you can sync the echelon app with Strava. It will sync your workout automatically

Yeah! Very easy set-up. Go to the settings and scroll to the bottom. You’ll have the option of connecting Strava, Fitbit and Apple health app. Simply sign in and it will log your freestyle rides seamlessly. I just set up my bike and it logged it in the Strava app. Just note, that it does NOT seem like ALL workout info is logged. Not the perfect solution, but better than nothing

A year later do you still have this bike and do you still like it? Now that you have been riding for a year would you consider getting a peloton for the metrics and leaderboard or are you happy without it?

I still have the bike, but I my boyfriend and parents both have the peloton so I use those a lot too. Honestly, I think this bike is just as good as the peloton unless you really care about tracking and comparing your metrics!.Those were never super important to me so I find this bike to be good for me!

yes you can! I was planning on doing this but decided that the cage pedals did not bother me that much. you can buy clip in pedals directly from echelon or from amazon, they just nee to screw in.

When using the Peloton app with the Echelon..they say you divide the number peloton says by 3 to get the Echelon resistance (eg. a 40-45 on Peloton is 12-15 on Echelon)..do you physically find this to accurate? I feel like a 12-15 is way too light of a resistance for most of the rides I’m experiencing.

yes, I think divide by 3 is too easy - but I think divide by 2 is a little too hard. I usually divide by two and stay at the bottom of the ranges for instructors I used to be in the middle/high of their ranges, which isn't perfect but works pretty well!

Thanks for the great review. One question - do you find that if the resistance knob is completely undone (i.e. counter clockwise) you have to turn it a lot before it registers any change in resistance? I'd say the top end resistance is good, but I can still turn it even with my hand - I don't know if that's normal or not. Appreciate your advice and your review!

that doesn't happen for me - if I can turn it either way I feel like it does make a change in the resistance.. do the resistance numbers on your app change when you turn it when it is completely undone?

@@EmmaAdamss Thanks a lot for the quick reply. Once I have turned quite a bit the numbers change, and in a kind of linear fashion, but it takes about 7 or so full turns before it goes off a resistance of 1 when fully loosened. Maybe I need to contact them if that's not normal behavior then

Could you please make a video on how you got the casing off on the EX-15 to fix the clicking; the echelon video version shows a different bike and I’m so confused on how to follow along :( and I have a clicking sound want to see if I can fix it ! Thank you your review was wonderful and is part of the reason I went with the echelon as opposed to another bike to use for peloton classes !

I actually could never get the casing completely off, but the clicking just went away within like 1-2 days after I got the bike and has never came back! not sure if something just loosens up overtime after riding it a bit. sorry that I'm not more helpful!

@@EmmaAdamss I was upset at first when I took the casing "off" as much as it could then back on and it knocked even louder but then magically just like you had said 2 rides later no knocking sound! the magical confusing method works I guess XD thanks for your comment :) love your videos

I don't believe that is true. You can't connect any bike to the app, there is no functionality for this

I think it’s because the app is ‘individual use’ while the bike you can log in multiple accounts. Still it is quite a big difference in price!

Have you entered your weight into the Echelon app? Once your do that, your calorie count will be updated and will be more realistic. Mine is now very close to my apple watch stats.

@@EmmaAdamss I said it’s in the app, but I was wrong. You’ll have to log in via their website (member.echelonfit.com/login). Once you’re logged in, go to “profile” then “metrics.” You can then enter your weight. Great videos-thanks for all the insightful info.

there is just a knob that you turn! you can adjust the resistance without it being plugged in

I had a clicking noise the first 2-3 rides when I was going at a high cadence/resistance at the same time, but then it just went away and hasn't come back! (and I've probably ridden around 50 times since then)

Download qdomyos zwift app. It gives you more metrics than echelon freestyle and auto uploads to strava

it's actually not EX3, it is a model lower than that. Amazon seems to have stopped selling it, not sure why, but there is the similar bike from walmart called the echelon connect sport indoor bike for $500!

I cant seem to be able to find this bike anywhere......Ok upon further research, this bike was only available for am few HOURS. Amazon pulled it and No clear reason was given.You got lucky my dear!

I think it will come back -- this bike is also sold at walmart with different decals on it (and is a walmart exclusive), and that goes out of stock/back in stock all the time. I think that they can't keep up with demand since it's a cheap bike while still being echelon branded!

Two words..........screen shot. I save my data by taking a screen shot of my results after every ride. I have an Echelon album and can instantly compare my results. Cost $0.00.

lol i think I would struggle comparing it like that!! I ended up getting an app that stores it to starve and it really helps me to have it there!
