11:35 this had only recently crossed my mind, but maybe the reason that it’s so common for the earlier edited coins to use new mechanics is because they were made with the expectation that players would continue beating levels one after the other, and then go back for the coins. With that logic, it makes more sense why robtop put in un-introduced mechanics for old coins when they weren’t necessary

You can tell the difference between experienced players and players like me- i was raging at some of the coins you put in s because they were so difficult. I also love unused mechanics in coins, gives feel of mystery and skipping ahead for the challenge. I also just love memory coins and portal recoveries, so we’re practically the complete opposite haha

The middle base after base coin deserves higher because of the music sync. Right when there is a weird part in the music that hasn’t came up before is when you have to go off of the path for the coin, which is a good indication of where it is

I love the first coin of Electroman Adventures because it actually goes with the beat of the music. It feels so good to bounce to the music and also collect a coin.

Note: When I was beating Fingerdash, I didn't even collect the mini-coins for the third coin, and, when I finished the wave, I stayed on the bottom, AND COLLECTED THE COIN.

The reason some of the portals were upside down was to hide the particles they emit. If they were the correct way around, you’d be able to see the particles from the main path and realize that there was something there. (This would make these coins 50x more interesting btw, why didn’t Rob do this)

The fact that colon doesn't force himself to have a steady upload schedule is a big deal to me. It means he doesn't do RU-vid for views or money like big corporate cash grab channels. He puts honest effort in his videos which shows he actually enjoys making videos which adds a genuine sparkle to his vids. Every time i open RU-vid and i see a colon vid, i immediately get excited and stay excited watching the video. Thats why colon is my favorite RU-vidr on the platform.

I don’t know why but I always liked the blind fall secret coins it adds an element of “oh wow I cleared this stage but I didn’t see any coins” giving me motivation to replay the level and search for the coin as if it’s a mystery

I've played this game for over 7 years and I never noticed how the spikes near Jumper's first coin were smaller

I love the fact that it is called a secret coin, despite the fact they are usually visible, albeit often harder to collect than the main path. Same with jump pads, as there are also ones the switch gravity.

The first coin in Electroman Adventures is very easy to get but hard to figure out if you're a first-time player. Definitely a clever one.

Electorman coin 1 is by far my fav coin. I was like, “hey, can’t u just go up” and I thought it was a skip for the level, and finding out it was a coin is one of the most iconic moments I’ve had in this game.

I love how he does not use a random ai to talk, he’s so honest, and he isn’t trying to force opinions on us, even one of the first things he said was “this is my opinion, it’s not fact, feel free to put your opinions in the comments!” which is very good for a RU-vidr! Love your videos! :)

The gameplay of the 2nd clubstep coin is actually way more tight than the main path. The spikes are much closer together.

I think that the little sparkle wasn’t the only indicator since if you look at the beginning of the level before the drop to the black room thing, you can see that those walls are only 3 blocks tall but that one specifically is 4 blocks tall. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Fun fact: The second coin in Clutterfunk can be grabbed by performing a precise swoop after touching the reverse gravity portal. I found that out on accident when I beated Clutterfunk for the first time.

The first coin in Electroman Adventures is probably my favourite of all the coins, because its hidden well, and the slight hint that it gives you is so simple yet difficult at the same time, and my favourite part about the coin, is when you're jumping up to get the coin, even if you miss the orb, you are still on track as you only get dropped off to the regular path.

Ok, actually for 8-1, that coin is pretty good if you consider the fact that new players don't know that you have space to jump and avoid dying from the spike. Trust me on this one.

I actually think the point of the upside down portals in the hidden paths are to hide the particles that come out from the side, which funnily enough wouldve fixed the issue of not being able to tell that the coin existed

I like the last coin in Electroman because the solid block outlines are the same color as the background, so it usually doesn’t become immediately clear to me that it isn’t solid.

My favorite part about the first fingerdash coin is that it's 100% timed with the music, making it feel like getting that coin *is* the intended route, which seems counterintuitive, but works in this case.

in my opinion the first coin of cant let go 9:00 I would say it should be either a d or c because there is a little edge on the one part where the screen turns black and don't don't land there unless you get the coin. wich that made me think about how there was probably a coin there

In defense of the 2nd hexagon force coin, the recovery is not as easy as it seems. Years ago when I was trying the level for the first time, I found myself dying to the slopes after the coin way more often when I took it. Maybe the hard part is precisely that, stabilizing your ship after the coin (stability that is de facto given to you if you don't go for the coin) rather than the act of taking it.

Poor RobTop was so worried that he went out of his way to change the SubZero coins

I think the reason of why the portals are flipped on the opposite direction is that they produce particles, they have an animation for that, so RobTop decided to flip them in order to hide de portals in a better way, he really wanted this coins to not be discovered easily.

Collecting Xstep's 2nd coin while gravity is inverted is a fun challenge that's made possible by the level design Also the 2nd coin of Clubstep has a spikes pattern slightly tighter than the normal route, and it makes it much harder because the first hop has to timed very early in order to clear them all. Imo that deserves better than C

7:51 I actually found out about this coin by noticing the blue gravity portal on top of the screen, it made me play on practice mode to figure out how to get there

Mandela effect: There is a 4th coin in Stereo Madness that everyone forgets. About when you are 121% through the level, you have to touch a special Spider-Orb that adds a little bit of Swing Copter gameplay. Crazy how everyone forgot about it.

One thing to note about the first coin in Hexagon Force: if you flip just before the pad to get you back on the main path, you actually can go up to the blocks above, while still collecting the coin. (But if you do it too early, you won't collect the coin at all) This alone doesn't change much, but imagine how good this coin would be if it were the only way to get it!

For the second coin in Base After Base, once I found the reverse portals, I used it in everything playthrough. It wasn't until I beat the level that I realized that a coin was there. In all the playthroughs before that, I didn't even realize the coin existed because of how quickly it was shown. The biggest F in the entire level.

21:18 Your comment on the second coin of ToE2 reminds me of your comments in "how gd teaches its mechanics" about Electrodynamix's invisible spikes and blocks. I am not a good GD player, I have never even cleared a demon, but to me, the Electrodynamix part with invisible stuff, which you claimed made it deserve an easy demon rating, is very easy, especially compared to the rest of the level (the ship parts 😩) because due to my slow reflexes and the fact that I can't look at the game closely at 60 FPS (the vertical lines and the slopes hurt my eyes when I do), I instinctively always look at the right side of the screen and I don't actually play the level that I see (since I can't focus on it) but rather the level that I memorised seconds ago, when the "invisible" blocks and spikes were very visible. I have not played ToE2 but based on what I can see, when the hole is on the right side of the screen it is very obvious to me that everything but this hole is blinking, so if I had the skill level to complete ToE2 in the first place getting that coin should not be much more difficult. (That said, my way of playing also tends to rely on memories of my previous playthroughs, especially "true dual mode" like in hexagon force)

Fun Fact: Clutterfunk’s second coin, Jumper’s first coin, and Cant Let Go’s third coin can all be collected “incorrectly”: going around the other way and grabbing them. This video reminded me of a trilogy of challenges that I made at some point involving exactly that, so I went and uploaded them. They’re called “Get The Coin”, “Get The Coin II” and “Get The Coin III” respectively if for whatever reason anyone here wants to try them out.

Did you know the the first coin in Electroman Adventures is impossible after beating the level in practice? The breakable blocks do not work properly.

The upside-down portals are done that way so that you don't see the particles, making the portal either harder to see or just completely offscreen.

base after base no.2 can be fixed rather easily. I always found that jump really cool, it's interesting in a way like polargeist no.3. The yellow portal should just be visible (moved up) and then add some extra gameplay under the regular path before you come back to the main one
