Reviewing Rangers vs Panthers Game Three 

He is still not that great at protecting the puck on the cycle. He is excellent player in transition though.

He has amazing hands and improved his skating like he needed to.

Hard to argue otherwise, even as a Stars fan with Oettinger. Impressive yet again.

It's why I'm pulling for a Stars-Rangers finals, the battle between Igor and Otter would be insane!

Rangers got thoroughly outplayed in the 3rd, but it's hard to say a game was stolen by a team that scored 5 legit goals, especially when 2 of Florida's 4 were pinball goals in off of skates or shins. They pressed hard in the 3rd because they were down by 2, and Igor kept it tied.

That is a good point. With everything they threw at Igor, there were hardly any, if any rebounds.

Absolutely! One thing about some Rangers fans I've found. No one complains about the Rangers more than some of their own fans, Not all, there are some of us who are reasonable and sane. But some really do. :)

You left out Kakko too, whos actually a good player but just cant finish for the Rangers. I would put 100 down on a bet that he scores over 75 points before he hits 28 years in age IF he gets put in a position to thrive. Rangers might not keep onto him, since they already have most of those roles locked up but he will be a late bloomer offensively.

@@martharunstheworld Yes but this was a very Ranger-like win I even said wouldn't it be wild if they blow the 2 goal lead and then win in OT anyway. I wasn't all that surprised honestly.

I'm not ready to give up on Kaako yet either I just wish he'd finish once in a while but the Rangers have plenty of guys who finish.

On the flipside, Panarin and Kreider were almost non-factors. They both had a few moments so they weren't completely invisible, but along with Zibanejad they've been pretty neutralized so far this series. Those guys need to step up a little too, especially Panarin who was whiffing on a few shots today. Not complaining because they've been good overall in the postseason, but definitely noticeable this series so far.

I have heard a lot of criticism of Goody's contract but this is what he did for TB and if the Rangers win the cup it is all worth it... right? IMO anyway.

Losing a close game 2 will be the death of them. The panthers are very volatile and can't afford to lose the games where they all actually show up.

Looking at that draft list, he still looks like a top 3 pick, and picking him first overall doesn't look crazy. Probably Stutzle and Sanderson should've been 1, 2 in hindsight. But Lafrienere going 1st overall doesn't look bad. There wasn't any McDavid/MacKinnon type players to pick 1st overall

He's a good player, but not a generational talent like a Bedard or MacDavid.

Not quite to the level of Canes vs Rangers, but Bob is prone to having bad games. Losing a very close game 2 is going to be the nail in the coffin for FL bc they are very beatable at least 2 games a series.

I don't agree I thought Bob was better in game 1 and Igor was better in game 3 and the Rangers played more than good enough to win game 2. The series is just as close as the Carolina one was and the Rangers win a lot of those type of games because they finish better. Every night it's a different guy for the Rangers and this series probably goes to 7 games and it's a toss up. I think it's time for people to stop crapping on the Canes they played very well and didn't choke and it wasn't all goaltending the Rangers finished better.

From several angles it doesn't even look like he makes any contact with the head. Just the back of the shoulder. Maybe his jersey grazed his neck. It just looks bad because of how he stuck his elbow out and Rodrigues embellishing. And of course everyone just wants the major based on reputation and instant reaction. You have to look at what actually happened and to me it is pretty clear from the replays the refs made a good call. I'm not saying Trouba is an angel and it is still kind of dumb to get back to back minors like that. He came close to the head.

sean and ray are very good. always love listening to them call a game. sure, they're not doc emrick but they're the best booth currently.

ESPN has a terrible broadcast. They have no idea how to call a hockey game. I would pay extra to be able to watch Sam and Joe on MSG throughout the playoffs.

100% correct. Given the refs were calling everything the Panthers way in the 1st period they have no reason to complain. The phantom whistle to blow the play dead on the Rangers shorthanded breakaway was the most controversial call in the game.

I mean Zibanejad hit himself with his OWN stick and flopped like a sniper got him... I don't think its unreasonable for Rodriguez go down when Trouba chicken wings him to jaw. Trouba already got 2 games suspension this season with similar chicken wing, I cant imagine him not getting at least 2 games for this.

Are they going to hit guys after the whistle every other scoring chance they let up how dare they get a chance to score. This is now like the 3rd game he has stolen for the Rangers after a couple against the Canes. Late in the 3rd there I was thinking he was going to give one up for sure because no one could keep up with that onslaught. The Rangers were starting to pray for OT. But he really held his own. Big big props to him again.

Amd if they're wearing a panthers jersey they deserve it

That's why the Rangers actually play better on the road so often they don't over pass and play a simpler game and I think Florida may play better on the road as well.

@@jameshannagan4256 I dunno if the Rangers played “Better.” I wish they did but the truth is, they got extremely lucky in game 3. Florida erased that 2 goal lead in no time and completely dominated the Rangers in the 3rd. Igor is just tiring them out so Rangers can win in OT.

@@DrDetfink It's pretty simple the first game was even the second game was the Rangers with the better play and the third was Florida no one dominated play in all 3 games that's all I said. People are acting like all 3 games weren't close and the Rangers should be getting blown out. The series has been pretty even and it's not some miracle the Rangers are up 2-1.

@@jameshannagan4256 I gotta respectfully disagree. The 3rd period in game 3 was absolutely dominant by Florida. They erased the 2 goal Ranger lead like it was nothing. Igor kept that team in the game. The final score of game 3 should have read 10-4 Panthers. Fortunately Igor flipped the script and the Rangers won in overtime.

It's one period in a game you got 2 gift goals in and of course they had a good 3rd they were going into it down by two goals. The first 2 games were evenly played and it's almost like you guys never faced a guy like Igor who you will not usually have much luck against if you shoot a lot from the perimeter without screens, deflections or rebounds. The Rangers have been winning games all year like that and if Florida doesn't change their approach they will lose the series. You guys act like one great period and you should be awarded the series lead. The Rangers just beat a Carolina team who is just as good as Florida and the reason they did is because they played the same way the Panthers did with the shot volume strategy they need to start crashing the net but the Rangers defense is very good at rebound control and stopping tips and screens it's going to be hard for Florida to win without some changes.

It wasn't actually as bad as it initially looked. Didn't actually make contact with the head at first, it was the shoulder and then barely nicked the helmet. That's why it was only a two minute minor, Rodriguez really sold it
