I played Mario a couple of hours ago with three other people at EGX (UK gaming con) and was brilliant! Was 20 minutes and great fun, although Yoshi kept picking me/Daisy up 😂 Oh and it is weird they used joycons there, the Nintendo booths here used pro controllers. So 4 pro controllers per console, with at least 10 consoles there.
Weird how video game kiosks were once looked past and in 2023 its a headline topic. Demos should be commonplace. No more Early Access pre order beta weekend early preview build online test segment blah blah blah... just release a demo.. its covered in the name
I think it's because people have been waiting to try the game for a while. Nintendo always releases in store demos but, unless it's a big release it's not going to be talked about
Capcom is the only one I think that puts out a demo for every single game. I'd just like to see that come back in a big way. I think on PS you have to have a subscription for demos, no?
The reason the PS5 has the weird top design is for its cooling system. The PS5 has 2 fans that push the air up. Also the PS5 Digital is more expensive because they added more storage. The Black 1 TB Xbox Series S is $50 extra as well.
You guys forgot about how the current PS5 models are being discontinued and these new slimmer versions are taking over as the base model! Definitely glad I already have a PS5. This seems like a weird decision from Sony since Spiderman 2 is so close but they chose to do the plates and special edition console on the “old” model. I got a day 1 PS5 and never had any of the issues you brought up nor have I heard of any of these issues with the PS5 like at all. Like it being broken from day 1 and needed updates???
It's baffling how people are still asking if Peach has her glide after the trailer specifically said that they all play the same. That means none of them have any special jumps or runs or glides. So no, Luigi will not jump higher, the Toads will not run faster, and Peach and Daisy will not have the dress float festure in this game. That's what the badges are for. Yoshi and Nabbit are the only ones with different play features.
Mario Odyssey was in the kiosks - I remember watching a guy in all biker gear play it with a huge smile on his face and then go "Man, Mario is so fun, you can't help but smile".
This ps5 revision is great. Anyone who had to change a disc drive on a ps3 and ps4 will tell you. A Modular disc drive is a great thing. Sony's drive do not last. I think the console looks better overall. I am not surprised that they are trying to milk the ecosystem with more accessories. The new design is not on the level of the original ps4 but I still like it.

Life don't work that way bubs. Super Mario World is where my love of video games started! Maybe that is why that person was so passionate about it. That is the game that gives me the most nostalgia from my childhood, but I can see how it wouldn't seem great to someone who didn't get to play it until later in life.
I play sports, racing, shooters, crpgs, etc and not a ton of Nintendo. And STILL I think Super Mario World maybe the best game ever made. For Wood to be such a huge Nintendo guy, it is a crime that he hasn’t played it.
The issue isnt thst he played door easy mode. Its that the option was locked behind a pay wall..as many people as possible should be able to play as many games as possible.
51:57 It's ok Bob, there are 2 little kickstand that slide in and they are sturdy. I got the PS5 slim w/ disk drive and it's awesome. It's silent, doesn't get hot, it looks better, and it was only $500. The only people whining about this are people who are salty because they had no patience, they bought the original console with all its problems, and it was overpriced. And this whole thing where you're whining about potential issues for people who don't pay attention and might buy the disk-less version, it's their fault. Not Playstation's fault for giving you the option. Next you're going to start complaining about how there are 3 different types of gas at the pump because you were too dumb enough to know which you needed.......just stop all the whining. It's so unnecessary.
Regarding the PS5 design: I would absolutely, always, every. time. prefer a console to actually have a design - even if it's weird and awkward - than just have consoles that are rectangles.
The only playstations I owned when I was younger was the portables. So... i'll just buy myself a used ps4 for $169 from book off and get all the great games.
I do not get it when people say "you're not a real gamer if you haven't played X game". Shut up! Some people were too poor as kids or they just don't like it. And sure you could say "well they can play it now" sure if they don't go down the legal route, since so many game companies restrict emulation. Like get over yourself. Most of the people who say this play only one game and it's usually a FPS, like get a grip!
I hate when they close down online for older consoles personally as I enjoy gping back to older games from time to time. Nintendo could just add another teir to there online subscription, say an wxtra £5 per year and you get access to online on the DS, 3DS, Wii & Wii U. That way they make some money out of keeping servers alive and those of us that would still like to play games onlike on theae consoles could still do just that. Maybe you can only have this teir if your already subscribed to the extra package, so they could potentially get people to sign up who havent already done so

am devastated at the thought of bank shutting down, there is so much I wanted to do on the old games and then have the ability to bring them up. I wanted to shiny hunt and ribbon master different poke. Having all those pokemon now be forever stuck is and no longer able to move betwee generations is such a loss.

I get where Bob is coming from with the mario sounds.. played enough sonic games to know even if the physics/mechanics are the same and the animation is actually better than the originals, something feels off if the jump or spin dash sounds are different

Wulf...When the SNES first released my friend and I would bike to Target and play their kiosk all day. The employees would yell at us to let others play (and we would let them), but we stayed and beat Super Mario World (not in one day). Sure, we were only 14, but who cares what people think? Stop being embarrassed of who you are.
Peach doesn't glide now. Mario, Luigi, the princesses and the toads All play the same. It's only nabbit and yoshi that are different since they're easy mode
Wood you’ve only played more games than me because you still haven’t found one you’re good at. Big difference between “you can be a real gamer and not play a certain game” and that “certain game” is Super Mario World when you’ve built your platform on mostly Nintendo content.
One of the first games I played on emulator, and I think the only one I ever completed on an emulator, was Super Metroid. And all I had was a keyboard. That game is not well suited to a janky old visio computer basic keyboard. But shows how good, or how much I liked, the game.
Not coming with the vertical stand and charging $30 for it is batshit crazy but the separate disc drive price makes sense. Any time there’s an option to buy a bundle or buy everything separately you end paying more if you don’t buy the bundle. I’m one of the few that actually loves the design of the OG PS5 but the disc version of the slim is ugly AF lol The digital version do be lookin sleek though. Also don’t like the little cut out line. This upgrade definitely feels like a downgrade overall. Sony really messed this thing up smh
to clear up some stuff you can't buy any new streetpass minigames for a while now because it's tied to the eshop also in april games won't be playable online anymore but other online functions that haven't been discontinued yet wil still work like updating games or the web browser
Xbox360 was meant to lay down even if it looked better standing up. Xbox 360 was perfect if you just gave up on easthetics a little. The xbox 360(slim/newest) also had a really satisfying power button. My discs never got scratched except once when I forgot to take it out and moved the whole console.
The new playstation 5 sucks. I don't like the 30 dollar stand. I also don't like that Sony will likely only sell custom plates for the new slim models.
I don't mind the line in the middle.hoping it's a cool light. But there's another bad design thing tou didn't mention...for whatever reason the top panel is glossy so it will be a scratch, dust, and fingerprint magnet
The Series S is a bad idea in general because it isnt just "all digital" it is less powerful which is already causing them many issues and delaying game releases.
you cant play the demo past the open area, the wonder seeds needed for the end of the open area is 99. I doubt anyone can hack it in 1 week let alone even getting the demo downloaded.
I feel like you do end up losing money going all digital but only if you ALL digital. It saves money most of the time if you only buy games on sale for digital and if you buy non sale games physically you end up saving more then one side only
