The OM SYSTEM OM-5 features are practical. The sealed LCD screen can be rotated and flipped out, which can protect the screen from the elements. The camera also features speed through fast frames per second, meaning capturing wildlife on the move. The auto focus feature is extremely quick and makes it easier to shoot swift moving objects. Great video. I think in time this camera will become much more appreciated and get more credit than it does right now. Just to let you know, the 40-150mm lens gives a 35mm 'FF' equivalent field of view of 80-300mm. Quite incredible given the compact size. I'll always love with my E-M5 II but the OM5 is starting to turn my head.

Would be nice to see you shooting with it. This video is just talking about it and showing a few photos. I would love to actually see the backscreen live, how fast is the AF, what it targets, how it switches from one are to another as someone pops in front, like real life scenarios. How it performs in highly contrasted scenes. How it the noise level at night. Noise around 1600 ISO was already terrible. I had the M5mii, which I sold because AF was too slow and not precise enough for street photography. It would often focus on the background, was not adjusting to a moving target, or would focus on a nearby leaf or wall instead of the main topic. It would take over a sec to focus at night even with a prime lens. My M1mii is way better . Also, should test the batteries, as they seem the same as old model and cannot last more then 300 shots, and around 100 in cold winter weather.

Try 24-90mm & 80-300 mm lens equivalence on the two lenses.

Thanks David. Not explicit in the video, but were the photos and video footage shot on the OM5? Always helps to note that in my view and add the lens used too. Appreciated candor about bells and whistles …agree wholeheartedly, but the ND added would be great!

Great video, Nobody talks about this camera. But this is my problem with OM System. This camera and the 12-40mm pro ii is only a few hundred dollars cheaper than the OM-1 with the 12-40mm pro ii as a kit lens. There is very little incentive to buy this one over the O-M1.

The OM-1 is larger and heavier, but also gives you more features, is better for videographers and has even more IS. I chose the OM-5 because it is smaller and lighter.

Why only 720p quality in a video on youtube? That is not fun to see on a 4k smart TV.

The problem is For the price around 1600€ there are way way better options such as Fuji xt4,canon 90d,sony a6600

Ehh the only camera here that you mentioned that would compare is the a6600. I can speak because I’ve rented and used the xt4 and Sony a6600 and the OM5 is decibels mlre feature packed and best bang for your buck, IMO.

@@forresthogue3532 I appreciate every company , but we all know that olympus played the "safe game" re-releasing the same camera with the same sensor as the old em5 mark iii ...the only thing that really changed was the slightly faster processor...ahhhh and the vertical video ! That's a gamechanger !!! (Irony).Panasonic is crushing Olympus every way,especially after announcing the new phase detect system they are gonna be unstoppable both in the m4/3 and full frame game.Thats the truth we've all seen it

@@glpro2696 I think there phase detect will be good but unfortunately their autofocus game is just not good(Chelsea and Tony Northrop speak on this) to put it nicely! The goal should be for Panasonic and OM systems to work together to really help make micro 4/3 more mainstream because it’s quite a good format and FF is hyped up WAY too much. I owned the Sony A1 and switched over to OM systems once I tried the OM1 (speaking from a bird and wildlife photography perspective) because the autofocus on the OM1 in incredible and also the build quality and lens selection and we’re talking a $2100 camera vs $6500 for the A1.

@@forresthogue3532 I agree that the om 1 is one of the best in wildlife photography.But can I ask you about what would you choose for a portrait session ? Olympus may be the best in one style , but lacks versatility in other factors such as DR,Low light,clarity,mega pixels...I think Sony is the best overall because it can be used in many case scenarios.But I respect your decision using the om systems
