Revisiting The Bigs 15 YEARS After it Released

The Bigs 2 is one of my all time favorite nostalgia game. Highly Highly reccomend that you play that career mode in TB2 (though it's been a LONG time since I've played)

Man, The Bigs 2 is one of my favorite sports games ever. Hope that gets a look eventually The Bigs 2 added special abilities and players with legendary stats. So Torii Hunter for instance, his ability was +2 fielding for the outfield, and Vlad Sr had +2 arm for the outfield, so the Angels outfield was absolutely stacked. Players with legendary fielding got to do defensive plays that other couldn't. If I remember correctly, Mauers ability was +1 to all of a pitcher's pitches.

I just had the itch to drag my PS2 out of storage and play The Bigs 1/2 again a couple weeks ago, so awesome to see this content! I loved Rookie Challenge in this game with a cool NFL Street-like vibe stealing my favorite players from across the MLB. From what I remember The Bigs 2 is more refined, including the Legend Mode, but The Bigs 1 remains more memorable to me from the first time seeing this style of game

The Bigs is a great game. My absolute favorite is MLB Slugfest tho. The commentary is legendary

This was a fun video. It's fun to go back and see older sports game from years past, cause, as you mentioned happened with NFL Street, sometimes it can turn into something more. Whether a series comes from this, or any other older sports games you stumble across, I'm down to seeing it

I’m not the biggest single player game guy… but this game right here I could sit down today and grind it for hours without a doubt

I think the main reason you struggled was underusing turbo/being unaware of it. The AI will use it constantly, and make a lot of great fielding plays with it (the shot down the 3B line that turned into the double play, getting thrown out at second, even just cutting a single to a double). I personally never loved it for fielding, but it's not something to hoard. If you use it and you're successful, you'll get most of that turbo bar back. Use it to stretch singles into doubles and doubles into triples, get a strike when you really need it, and so on. Also, I don't really remember why, but I think I actually preferred the first game to the second. I think I didn't like the injuries or something. Both are great games, though; I think you should play through rookie mode in the first game and then move onto the second and play more of everything, once you've got a handle on the basics introduced by the first game.

Oh I remember this. This, NHL Hitz, NFL Blitz/Street, NBA Jam/Street back in the day, all fantastic games, absolutely antastic games. MVP 04/05 had something similar with its minigames as did MVP 06/07 college baseball too. I remember in TB1 and 2, it was over the top, insanely good, insanely fun and absolutely not realistic at all but amazing fun. Hopefully you'll look into the hitz/Blitz series since you did NFL Street already

The green turbo bar is for running bases, throwing as a fielder, batting, or pitching. It just increases speed, power, and throw power

You'd definitely enjoy the bigs2 Cane. Definitely, imo, more polished and more fleshed out in regards to being a fun arcade baseball game with traditional depth and longevity of shelf life for the game itself with season mode and the career mode. The player abilities made it more dynamic and more fun to make a build your own stacked roster kind of deal. The announcer can be a little annoying and repetitive, but all in all, a great game.

My all-time favorite old baseball game is Basewars from the NES. When you get tagged your runner and the tagman fight. If they win your are out, if you win you keep running. Plus you can purchase robot upgrades to improve your team. I wish they had done a more modern remake.

I remember playing a lot of The Bigs 2 on Wii, because it was the only baseball game on the console and I needed my GM mode fix.

This was my first and only baseball game back on my ps3 and I absolutely loved it. Main reason Pujols is my fav player and the Cards are one of my fav teams

It takes some of the meaning away from the word great when every single hit gets taken away by a "great catch". I'm honestly not sure what you're supposed to do with that. Did the Cardinals just have a gold glove infield in that era?
