I swear I am confused. When did taking care of natural hair become so complicated? As a loose natural those oils were great for me; no Bueno on my locs). I tend to let it sit overnight for maximum penetration or if I don't have the time I sit under a bonnet dryer or steamer cap for 10-15min with a shower cap on). M - Very watered-down Kinky Curly Knot today conditioner or Giovanni Direct Leave-in Conditioner with Rosewater & Aloe Vera juice in a continuous spray bottle. I'm pretty new to pre-pooing! I've been trying to regrow my hair after most of it fell out due to a heart medication I'd been prescribed. Since then I've been researching hair growth products and methods and to be honest, I am overwhelmed!!There's such a plethora of information and products available that it's hard to know where to start. I don't know how I came across your channel but, I am so glad that I did! I feel like I'm finally starting to understand "Hair" and, more importantly, "My Hair". That being said, I am now trying your PMP method using Ayurvedic products. For my Pre-Poo I've been using Amla oil. To moisturize I use a water based cream product with Amla Powder mixed in. To protect I us a mixture of Almond Mint oil and Mahabhringaraj oil. I'd really like your opinion as to whether I'm on the right track here.

I haven't used a prepoo often usually after long term protective styles. I stay in the M.P. realm. Right now I am using Melanin hair cares Leave in but I am going Back to Oyins hair dew once this is finished. The P lately has been my Cutly Proverb oil blend. I made some after the one I purchased ran out. So far so good

@@CurlyChemistry I am going to try to prepoo more. Sometimes with my health issues when I need to wash my hair I just do it. I can't always anticipate before hand when I will do it. . lets see how it goes

Currently using a diy chebe butter that I really love. Also have an Ayurvedic infused butter blend. Oils in the blend are olive, avocado, sunflower, jojoba, grapeseed. @Curly Chemistry Can you also use a serum ( silicon based possibly) for the Protect step? I'm worried that hair grease might be to heavy for my fine 3C hair strands..

Is grapeseed oil a penetrating oil or a sealing oil? I'm high porosity. Great video!

Hi Tonya, great information as always. I came across your channel from another youtuber who recommended you. I've been bench watching all your videos going back to the beginning. I have a specific question. I water wash for the first 3-4 days after a shampoo wash and then shampoo again 3-4 days after the water wash. I would normally have to style/comb my hair daily and because of that I have a hard time combing and I would therefore have to moisturize but before I do that I would spray my hair with rose water or a tea to get it a bit more manageable/hydrated, then add my leave-in followed by a grease. So I would like to know if spraying my hair daily would be an issue? Btw I have a mixture of 2b and 3c hair.

Sho nuff been playin myself not reapplying a protectant layer when moisturizing throughout the week. I thought it would be excessive since I already have protectant in my hair from wash day buuuuut apparently not lol. So thank you! About to go MP right now :)

@Curly Chemistry First, I would like to say thank you for providing such informative and highly beneficial videos which I have found to be both educational , and gives me the answers I could not find elsewhere. For years I hated my natural hair and hid it away under weaves and relaxers. I now know it was because I didn't understand my hair and how to care for it, or even how special and beautiful it is. My awakening happened in 2014 when I came across an article that explained the dangerous chemicals that relaxers contain, so, when I realised these chemicals actually seep into the skin and their potential, I knew it was my responsibility to act and treat my health with respect. I cut off my relaxed hair and began my natural hair journey which I have found to be both liberating and true to myself. My hair is a mixture of 2A, 2C, and 3C. It is low-porosity, with fine strands and lots of follicles so, when it is out I have lots of hair, and as you can imagine it also tangles quickly. I moisturise every two days, and my PMP routine is centered around coconut and olive oil as a prepoo, TGIN leave-in, sealed with Jojoba oil. Keep up the great work, lots of love from the UK!!

I sealed with hemp seed this morning. I have a few other oils. I'll try jojoba next! My hair feels dry to the touch but feels and acts like its soft and moisturized! Wierd.

I love your videos! I have a question a couple mths ago I did the rice water method and i have low porosity hair. After this treatment my hair was extremely brittle. No matter what moisturizers deep conditioning etc I did it was still brittle. Long story short I noticed my hair now had started breaking off at the ends..its bad enough I have centrical alopecia but now my hair that has been growing longer started noticeably breaking off. Can you explain why this happened and what I ould do to keep my retention?

Very helpful! P - coconut oil M - water/leavin mix P - Melanin hair oil With my hairs current length wash n go’s are a staple because it’s not long enough for braid/twist outs that don’t look a hot mess. So this method is tricky based on hair length for me.

Understandable! I’m a huge fan of doing what works for you. At the end of the day if wash and go’s are great for your hair, stick with it! ☺️

I guess I been doing this method without knowing the name of it 🤦🏾‍♀️😬. I normally do a double treatment at the Prepoo stage. I use the warm oil ( The Mane choice Alpha growth oil and coconut oil) to detangle. After my whole head is detangled and twisted up I pour onion juice over my hair and scalp and cover for 2 hrs. Then I wash and deep condition with ayurvedic herbs. My hair has grown so much.

Another question 😄 is Grapeseed oil and Olive oil penetrating oils. I think I read to much because I read that low porosity hair shouldn't prepoo. Again I need help 🆘🆘🆘

P: Coconut oil, olive oil, peppermint, tea tree, rosemary. Overnight. M: Aussie moist rinse out conditioner as leave in. I use the Kimmaytube method by mixing aloe vera juice, castor and olive oil in it to bring the PH down. P: castor, Coconut, olive mix and hair grease or a shea butter mix. I go over my hair with the oil first, then the grease or butter. I'm high porosity and this has been working well for me. I'm really loving the aussie moist as a leave in. My hair smells awesome.
