In 2017, Michael Bay released his fifth and final Transformers film, 'Transformers The Last Knight'. The film is universally regarded as "the bad one". But is it?
Something funny you forgot to mention was the fact that Squeaks needs the little girl to tell him it's ok to shoot someone lmfao 🤣🤣🤣. Bro you killed it with this review. I love how animated you got during this video best video I've seen all day. Glad RU-vid suggested it.
You have cracked me up on those last few minutes of this video. If it helps. There’s a channel called TRF Creations. They do a lot of stop motion movies with Transformers. The best thing about them, is that there are only Transformers. No Humans are involved, just like the G1 movie & Predacons Rising. They are 100% focused on our favorite Robots in Disguise. There are like 2 prequels for both AOE & this one. A series called Origins, which explains how The Fallen was born, & what Optimus’s history with Megatron was like before the War started. And believe it or not. They really did a sequel to TLK, that explains how Unicron became Earth’s core, & everything that was ignored throughout the franchise. Once you get done with pt-2 of TLK. You should checked them out, even though they’re not canon, which is ok, since anything can be canon as long you them.
Besides the visual effects and some stunning actions sequences imo, the most redeeming part for TLK was Steve Jablonsky's score. He never even had to put any real effort for this film yet really treated as it was like the ultimate conclusion of the franchise and decided to really go off. The fact that he brought back and elevated so many iconic leitmotifs like Arrival to Earth and Optimus' theme made me emotional from the final act cause he carried so much. Also his use of such strong medieval like instrumentation to signifying the Cybertronian Knighthood of the story made it so grand, unique and other-wordily compared to his past themes, which set an enticing vibe to the narrative even if not strong. I'm just thankful Steve helped brought us amazing emotions and memories throughout his 10 year musical journey of the franchise.
Honestly my biggest problem with tlk is the history part, like I was able to tolerate it with the other 4 movies, but Tlk just pushes it to the extreme and took it too far and was harder to digest
I honestly find all of the ideas really cool! on paper, at least. If only the idea of Cybertronians being apart of human history was properly set up and explored well :(
@@1FenFen1 That would be fine. But you can't say Optimus, Ironhide, Ratchet, ect were all on earth for hundreds of years, when we literally see them come to earth in 07 Why did sector 7 even exist if we already knew about Transformers? Why are there apparently 2 or 3 completely different groups of knights with no actual backstory for them explained?
@@jeepdino7353at the very least Bee’s involvement in WW2 doesn’t really contradict the timeline cause in the first movie they never mentioned when he arrived on earth. Unless you want to count the movie prequel comic but some of the events in the comics have already been retconned. But as for Optimus, Ratchet, and Ironhide being on earth longer it doesn’t make ANY sense to me whatsoever.
When even a fanatic of the franchise that has defended revenge of the fallen and age of extinction can't even finish his review/rant about the worst installment in his beloved series, that's a big warning about how horrible the movie is! Please come back for a part 2 rant...
As a massive fan of Transformers Live Action, I HATED THIS MOVIE. Because this movie has THE BALLS to retcon everything the past 4 movies that happened before. The Seed from Age Of Extinction, Forget About It. The Allspark,Forget About It. The Sun Harvester and The 13th Primes, Completely Forget About It. The Pillars, Sentinel Prime, Battle Of Chicago, you guess it, Forget About It. This movie is one of the movies that really pissed me off in the wrong way to the point I was done with Transformers. I want nothing to do with this franchise until 2018 Bumblebee Movie restored my faith and love with the franchise. And it's also the only Transformers movie I'm going skip on when I'm rewatching Micheal Bay Transformers movies cause I remembered, I took like a month and half to finish this movie on Netflix. That's how about this movie is. Transformers fans have our diffrences and opinions on shows and movies, but one thing we can all agree that The Last Knight was HORRIBLE. I don't want to rewatched this movie ever again. I can watched the other Transformers movies for fun and entertainment value, but this one can put me to sleep. Oh God, It's Okay, John I can understand why you don't want to finish this movie and how bad it is.
I literally hate the humanoid aspects of the Autobots and how Bee was in World War 2 when he was here on Earth for the AllSpark. None of the elements of the fifth makes no sense. None of it does.
The films a mess, but there are concepts i really like that prevent me from truly hating it. As a Medieval/Arthurian Legend nut, I love the concept of the Guardian Knights and i wish we just got a film just involving that.
@@Cheeseitsproductions well as seen later, Cybertron’s shape was all over the place with its chunks stretching out and whatnot so it can be assumed the planet just scrunched back into a sphere. Who knows though.
As much as as I don’t like TLK I’ve noticed a lot of commentators stretch what ever critics they have on the movie when it had a lot of good going for it as much as it had bad going for it, it’s just the bad things we’re more significant than the good things
This isn’t just a bad Michael bay movie. It’s just a terrible movie. If we can even call it that. It has so many editing errors, bizarre editing decisions, inconsistent aspect ratios, just feels like a movie held together by string and duct tape
The one thing I literally hate about this movie is that the aspect ratio kept changing. Which to be clear, I am a Micheal Bay fan and I have seen and own almost every film he has ever made so this is not from a place of hate but it's like Michael Bay couldn't decide what lens to use and it is so annoying. I noticed it in the theater when I first saw it and thought I was tripping then I got on Blu-ray and it does that the whole time. I know it was shot with IMAX cameras and filmed for IMAX but I have seen better uses of IMAX than the way it was done in this movie. Along with other problems and how all the action scenes are short for no reason and if I am not mistaken Michael Bay made changes to the film and cut out 40 minutes of the movie which is a shame. And even with me having this movie with the bonus features to this day I still can't watch them because I can't stand this movie. And this is coming from someone who loved Revenge of the Fallen and Age of Extinction as a preteen and teenager and still loves them both as an adult
to be honest, the only reason why i liked this film was because of the designs of the characters, the London chase scene with Bee and Barricade, Bumblebee vs nemesis prime and that's pretty much it
AOE and TLK had some really interesting designs. They were more stylized and easier to look at. I still prefer the designs they had for the first 3 movies because they're less cartoony, but the designs we got for the last two movies were pretty fun sometimes
I would have made it that galvatron was questioning his existence since all his real soilders are killed from his past life has a reevaluation of himself. He gets a mission from quintessa and is rebuilt fully. He becomes the last knight and is the true hero then becomes a autobot and surrenders himself to become a prisoner for his crimes
I honestly wish Megatron stayed as Galvatron and actually wanted to wake up Unicron to destroy the earth, Out of spite for everything that happened to him in that planet, And have him wanting to kill quintessa to make sure Unicron destroys earth since now Cybertron is beyond saving, And that his decepticon team being actually poweful, Have them actually giving the autobots a bad time, Make them almost win, Only for Nemesis Prime to get back to earth (Yeah, Have him appear early on) and make him kill all those decepticons that were destroying the autobots to show how dangerous he is, With both Megatron and his remaining crew (Nitro Zeus and Barricade) and the Autobots escaping from there, To make things look dangerous, I don't know if this is decent writting but at least it's better than what whatever TLK did
Yeah, the continuity really stopped with Dark of the Moon. With the additions of Age of Extinction and Last Knight, the only continuity there really is is Optimus and Bumblebee.
Ok not transformers related by brother that divide movie edit you threw in their with the joker saying “ I can’t wait to show you my toys” just took me all the way tf out🤣🤣
As a massive fan the 1986 transformers movie hearing that one of my favorite autobots of all time hot rod was coming to the bayverse I was so happy that was until I watched the movie in a theater and realized we truly have fallen into the depths of unicron himself
When it comes to Optimus confused of cybertron's state, remember in DOTM, cybertron was most likely destroyed by collapsing on itself. So seeing it exist, plus with greenery that was never, would be confusing for Optimus Prime
The scene where Anthony Hopkins's character explains transformers were here all along kinda seems like he set up those picture, posters and painting to fool Cade and Vivian into getting the staff before megatron cause a doubt most of what he was saying was true besides the knights and the devils brigade thing, the poster of Bee may have just been a photo taken to raise moral of the army, since they could've been the only ones in on the secret, and the "join the army" version was probably scrapped due to the military at the time not wanting to let the public know what's really going in the army, since the common folk wouldn't be as understanding as the hardened soldiers knowing that giant alien robots that can turn into cars can also take out entire towns/city blocks like its nothing are living among them and can never spot them until its too late
I want a studio series of the 7 knights and have the ability to combine them to make a very large leader class Dragon storm. I have a 3.5 in core class Dragon storm, which made me want a leader class of him. I also wish they'd make a leader class Infernicus as well. Once again it was the 3.5 inch version that made me want both. But I do have one question, HOW DID OPTIMUS END UP FLOATING IN OUTER SPACE?
I had no idea Paramount cut 40 minutes of the movie. It would’ve been the longest film in the franchise next to Age of Extinction. I guess Paramount didn’t want to repeat the last film. Personally I loved Age of Extinction, but The Last Knight gave me a headache and it was just a waste of time and money because I saw this on IMAX. To Michael’s credit, Transformers wouldn’t be where it is now if it wasn’t for him. He laid the groundwork and the foundation for future directors to follow. Still The Last Knight was a big misstep. Very disappointing. By the way, I am a Michael Bay fan, so this isn’t coming from a place of hate. He’s one of the richest directors in the business and I ain’t mad at him lol.
One thing I just recently got to thinking about The fact that megatron is working with quintessa Megatron isn’t the type to just be a lackey like that. The fallen was a mentor and sentinel basically usurped him. Quintessa well it can be assumed that she controlled him the same way she did Optimus prime but that’s just me as a fan filling in the gaps The quintessons which quintessa is clearly based on were able to get megatron to cooperate with them as well but that was because megatron wasnt megatron at that point. He was galvatron. Despite having the memories of being megatron he was still somewhat different personality wise and combine that with the brain damage he got from the lava bath in the first episode of season three this was a megatron that just wasn’t fit to lead anyone anymore. And even then they barely convinced him. They had to make up some bullshit about a decepticon matrix. Oh and the quintessons mind controlling Optimus prime is also a thing that happened.
I’m actually shocked but I must agree. I remember watching it in 2018 whilst heavily drugged up on pain killers in hospital and thinking to myself I quite like this movie, so I watched over and over again (due to it being the only think worth watching for a 14 year old boy compared to other crud selected for 40 year old housewifes). A couple of week after getting out I found it on Netflix and remembered how much I liked it… I wanted my appendix to burst again. I was so disappointed it wasn’t funny 😂
When you say that it was copying Star Wars with machine looking that you said is more like ATST, I would even argue that’s it’s like those Drones in Robocop you know those drone, I means that’s how Interpreted those drone comparisons
I only kinda cared for the first three live action movies as thats what I grew up with, AOE and TLK aren't my forte to be honest, then BB came and I kinda liked it, not the same that I grew up with and then ROTB just ruined everything for me, as its not the same things I grew up with, im honestly fed up with the Gwunerrs, why does everything have to be g1?
I’ve found my people. Bayverse is overhated, and without it, Transformers would’ve died years ago. Even the best media of Transformers was based off Bayverse designs and concepts, as Transformers: Prime
Finally someone i can agree with, i just dont think the G1 look works. makes them look so fake in real life. Wish we could go back to the first 3 Bay films😢
@@MetalGearPrimus dude tf5 nearly killed the franchise 😑, I like the bayverse but the excuse of *It saved the franchise* is redundant when it nearly killed it 10 years later. The bayverse giving birth to tf prime which did what the bayverse did but better doesn't wash away the flaws or damage the bayverse did or had.
I agree with you about everything you said, but the finale part about the "secret history of Transformers on Earth" room is probably 100% accurate to my own reaction once I saw the movie in thearters. The marketing campaign pushed for this "singular reason why Earth is so interlinked with the cybertronian given the previous movies" yet they completly screwed up everything, and they even had the audicity to bring back elements from the previous movies (a space-bridge pillar from DOTM is at the center of the room, for example), even showing the Ark on the Moon and the Great Pyramid of Giza where the Sun Harverster was hidden both getting destroyed by Cybertron. They built this hype around finally connecting everything and they ended up making everything so much worse. F*CK THEM!!!
Ironically for me...I didn't hate it...just felt so dissapointed at how much wasted potential this movie had because holy moly THE CONCEPT ART AND ORIGINAL SCRIPTS WERE BETTER THAN WHAT WE GOT
13:59 to 14:11 No, it really wasn’t Cemetery wind was acting on its own illegally TRF is on official business doing exactly what’s asked of them You can make anything sound derivative if you only spout the bare basics
@@johnpattison6882 For starters the beauties behind you. There are many Lego only channels, it would be cool if you talked about the sets you own n the style of how you talk about movies. Just an idea.
@@s.nifrum4580 they doesn't make it clear if they were talking about the design or character and given how Trans theories made that theory popular, it's only understandable that I associated OP with talking about nitro's origins overall
@@frxkn6786 Give him time guys, this movie is really hard for him to watched including me. It took me like a month to finish this movie on Netflix for how boring and bad it is.
I’m in a weird position here Nearly everything you’ve said has been valid but none of it bothers me when I’m watching the film Then again I’m only ten minutes in to the video so who knows
Wait that’s the girl In madam Webb?!?!?! Man some of these actresses can’t catch a break from having poorly written characters, she’s even been victim to people making fake quotes from her online as a way to hate women and make an agenda against women led films ( again she never actually said toxic men are the reasons madam Webb failed, no one involved in that movie is defending it)
Well I 100% agree with you, THE LAST KNIGHT IS A GARBAGE TRANSFORMERS MOVIE, THERE IS NOTHING GREAT ABOUT THIS MOVIE!!! It pains me to say that because I love the Transformers movies but this is the ONLY TRANSFORMERS MOVIE I HATE!!!!! I know you and I will have different takes on Bumblebee and Rise of the Beast
As you made it very clear in your AGE OF EXTINCTION breakdown VIDEO, you didn’t care about Rise of the Beast movie, I personally enjoyed both Bumblebee and Rise of the Beast!!
What do you mean by revisiting you never watched the movie you never even made the first video of this why is it revising you didn't make a video before this
This is a whole exposé of how dumb Transformers as historical fiction is. I hate it. Let history be history. Who decided that it makes sense to have these giant robots in major historical events, but yet, no one else knows about it?! No historical account could convincingly cover up such a huge event, especially repeated how many times this shows. Please Paramount, stop writing Transformers into history. Just stop!
fun action and amazing CGI mainly. Oh, also some actual Transformers. I was expecting a *Transformers* movie. They were barely involved with anything that happened in the film. It's an uncharted movie ft. Mark Wahlberg from Ted 2.
@1FenFen1 bro we had constant scenes of bee and the crew being there with the whole story of the knights and did you just say the cgi was bad 💀 it's literally the same as the past films
@@ofc.magnus the Transformers were *always* background characters in their own movies. They only do stuff when an action scene requires them. They show hints of personality, but outside of that, they don't show much character nor do much of anything. I can excuse that for the previous movies. They were all dumb fun, you never had to care for anything that happened with the plot. TLK is different however in how the Transformers just barely show up. You'd maybe have Bee in the background, but that's really it.
I truly believe it is your duty as a Bayverse fan to talk about Rise of The Beasts. TLK is horrible but ROTB is an abhorrent mess cause the people making ROTB were actually trying to make a good movie unlike Bay and crew for TLK. It's embarrassing.
