I loved this tutorial! I am curious to know if you can place revit components like windows and doors on imported geometry like this? Is there a workaround for that?

I'm glad you like the video! Unfortunately, we can't place doors or windows directly on imported geometry. A workaround is punching holes in the geometry using voids in Dynamo prior to importing. Then, place your door or window in these holes after importing the geometry.

It looks amazing. Thanks a lot :) Could you do schedules of this? in order to get sqm. I am doing something way easier with Structural framing and I do need to get also sqm... any ideas? :) Again, thanks a lot

Glad you liked it! Yes, you can get and sum up areas of surfaces in Dynamo. There's 1 step in the video where I created surfaces before thickening them. Simply connect these surfaces to a Surface.Area node :)

Great tutorials! One problem I came across was in the end when I tried to send the geometry back to Revit with ImportInstance.ByGeometries. When it got to Revit the model were about 5x the size of the original. Any ideas what could cause that?

Did you have this issue in Revit 2022? If so, it's because the Import instance node is faulty in Revit 2022. Autodesk fixed it in Revit 2023. If you need to stay in 2022 and got the script from our website, please let me know and I'll send you the updated script with this issue fixed :)

@@RVBoost Thank you for the speedy reply! Yes, I am using Revit 2022 and I built the script following the video. Is there another way to bring the geometry back to Revit without using that node?

Great tutorial. I noticed that when the geometry is brought into revit each slat seems to be an individual object instead of a single group like in your example. Also, I'm not able to dimension the geometry once its in revit. Any suggestions?

Your objects don't get imported as one element is probably because you used the ImportInstance.ByGeometry node. Please try ImportInstance.ByGeometries instead (notice the plural). Regarding dimensioning, have you tried pressing Tab to see if that allows picking faces of the imported object?

@@RVBoost Thanks for the reply. I caught onto the geometry(s) distinction. Regarding dimensioning the I used multiple instead of one surface to create the ceiling form in order to meet some very specific dimensions. I am able to dimesion to certain portions of the resulting ceiling slats but not others...

It could be that the surfaces or lines you want to dimensions aren't parallel. You might be able to dimension using their corner/end points?
@kurtziegel4856
@kurtziegel4856 Год назад
@@RVBoost Thanks, the corner point suggestion worked. I'll have to determine why the slabs aren't parallel at som e point.

Sometimes it might just be just some fuzzy number rounding that Revit and/or Dynamo applies on the fly. Glad it (kind of) works now 😊
